I can add the Azores to my bucket list too. I did not fly commercially though. I flew there on a Air Force C-141 Starlifter Transport. The flight was from McGuire AFB in NJ to Rhine Main AFB via Legis Field. This was in 1985 and I was returning off of emergency leave because of my mother passing away. I think we were there in the Azores for several hours (it has been a few years since then) then it was back on board and on to Germany. The one thing I remember from the flight was it was cold on board the plane. I was traveling in my Army dress uniform and it did not provide much warmth.

Jeb, there is a country that you should see and its called Moldova. If you have not been there, its beautiful to me. My relatives live there and I have been there before. Very tall apartments, one was I think 18 stories high. Also, the airport is normal sized. Its not very big like DFW or The one at Atlanta, and over there, the air Moldova is great, when we were going back to the USA, it was like a premium economy

I was yelled at in Rome (FCO) a couple of years ago for taking a picture in the same spot as you of an American Airlines A330-300 heading back to CLT. We were backed up waiting to get in the plane, so it wasn't like I was holding up the line. Once onboard, however, I had the best service I ever had (also helped my dad knew one of the FAs and let her know where were on that flight. lol.

Ive been to the Azores and the island is BEAUTIFUL! Getting there? it doesnt matter how you get there, its terrible. SATA, TAP, you name it, the airlines are THE WORST! Youd be better off getting a plane with a propeller and a rubber band.
OMG it is BAD.
Ponte Del Gada is gorgeous and the people are very nice.
Best bet if you go there, buy a raft

You see The Airlines Retires The Boeing 767-100 200 200ER Airbus A310-200 300 Because The Planes Was Very Small Boeing needs To Come Up With An Approach The Boeing NMA 797 Like The Boeing 767-300 was almost to retirement Or The Boeing 767-300ER And It Was Big So Trust Me The Airlines Will Make Sense When It Comes To Orders

Question. if you knew that they were going to retire the A310s why did you give us a bad review? Just because we dont have as much money as american airways bla bla doesn't mean you should dis us. You got from A to B without any problems so thats the main thing, not because there wasnt anyone there to scratch your feet.

You should do another trip report from Boston to Ponta Delgada because Azores Airlines (formerly SATA) retired there A310s in October last year. Today they use 1 of 2 A321neos. One says Breathe. Another says Wonder. Not sure if the A321neo has business class.

Hi Jeb the ashtray that was from before passengers used to smoke on board and every airport has a cleaning crew to clean the cabin and the food flight attendants don't touch the food it comes from a catering company with contracts with airlines

I did record the take off and landing. You have to wait till pilot says cabin crew take your seats. Did get caught once though, wasnt pretty. Got yelled at in Ponta Delgada mall too because I was filming the large goldfish in the fountain.

Fun fact: the hot winds from the Sahara combine with the humid conditions in the Azores, thus eventually forming the genesis of hurricanes. Some die out crossing the Atlantic while others sustain the energy and strike our hemisphere.

I would have walked off seeing that cabin not because I think Im too good for economy but because if they dont take care of the plane inside imagine how well its taken care of on the inside where the important parts are.

I thought you were kidding as you said, multiple times, this is why you fly Air Azores. I thought we were going to see more of the Azores. Being 63% Azorean Islander, I must say I was disappointed. Ive never been there

I got to fly the Air Transat A310 to Dublin in 2019 before it retired, it was pretty amazing, it looked much better than this even in economy, but still i probably would of done it if I wanted to go to Azores.

Pictures, in the US you are allowed to record and take photos in the public in the US. So you can take pictures where the ground crew told you not too.

to my knowledge air azores has retired the a310s and are on to a330s for the widebodies. but they use an a321neo between boston and ponta delgada

We were actively planning a trip to the Azores prior to the pandemic. Those plans were obviously pushed back to. TBD.

Did they turn the air nozzles above passenger seat off for the entire flight as they usually do so the passengers suffocate in heat and stinky air?

Old planes equal lots of micro cracks from repeated pressurization's over many many years. Those rivets and aluminum skin only last so long.
