SURPRISE: Delta international BUSINESS CLASS. domestically!

Don't you love (good) travel surprises! I had one the other day when I showed up at my gate. I frequently travel from Atlanta to Phoenix for work. These flights are usually on Delta 737's or 757's. I figured this experience wouldn't be any different. So much so, in fact, that I didn't even bring the camera I use to shoot trip reports (this video is shot entirely using my iPhone X. When I looked at the plane, though, a Delta 767-300ER (N178DN) was waiting. It had just come in from Santiago, Chile. That meant it was configured with Delta's International Business Class product, Delta One. I was excited to see how Delta does international business class. domestically on a 767! The 767 Delta One seat has been nicknamed the flying coffin because many people find it confining. I didn't. In fact, it was a spectacular way to travel most of the way across the continent! Sure, it wasn't perfect, but

Im definitely a fan of keeping the shades open. I find it extremely annoying to be on a dark daytime flight. Thats one of my complaints about in-seat video: that many insist upon closing the shades so they can see the screen. In fact, on my recent VX LAXOGG flights, the FAs requested everyone to close their shades for the entire duration. No Bueno.

Some people want to sleep. So as soon as the 10, 000 ft chime sounds the blinds go closed.
As soon as its time for landing the shades go back up.
There is nothing worse than trying to sleep and having a reader next to you who insists on keeping the shade open or even worse using their reading light! Especially at night!

There's no excuse for a dirty aircraft no matter how old the plane is. I would imagine if one were tall then they would have more problems with the seat and well. Of course, remember, that the airline can always change equipment so if you check your flight it could change and airlines have every right to do this. Cheers.

Jeb, just flew back PHX to ATL yesterday on one of these 767s. Maybe we were on the same flight! I agree, was surprised to see these being used on this route. Still had a full flight though. Perhaps we'll see more of these domestically or shifted to smaller market international routes as Delta takes in more A350s.

hi Jeb. mate just a question, have you ever filmed a episode of one of your flights, during a storm and bad turbulence, just asking, i love your videos, and will continue to follow and watch, thanks a lot mate and take care, regards Darren, ( from the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. , cheers.

I tend to leave it half open-half closed because it can be pretty bright in the sky. The last time I flew I had a headache, so I kept it that way. But I love looking out at the views below. My last flight was back in April when I was coming home to ATL from a 3 month school trip to LA.

Its been five years ago this November now but I recall an RDU-ATL flight in Delta Comfort on an ex-TWA 757 that had just arrived from CDG. It may be commonplace, but it did seem that the lighting and features were different for 2016. Please correct me if I am mistaken?

I have this flight later this month. It was a 767 when I booked and then got swapped for an A321. I've had the same flight on an A330 before too. I know it's standard domestic 'first' service just in the Delta One cabin, but I'm still annoyed at the swap!

I will always leave the window shade open if I am in a window seat, I want to see the view and watch the takeoff, landing, etc. Nothing drives me more crazy then being on the aisle, and the person at the window keeps the shade down the entire flight!

I flew the delta 767 two times (in economy of course) and i was really satisfied by the seat itself and delta's service. Usually I never eat plane food (big meal services. I only eat delta's and air france'. Last time I flew it was 2, 5 weeks ago

I watched Dunkirk on board BA218 on route from Denver to London. It was quite sad to have those tiny screens that BA sports in the 777s and 747s! Only if they had a stream your own device service like Delta - things could've been so much better!

Hey Jeb, great video, yes I feel that cabin needed some extra cleaning duties performed. Always keep my shades open so I can watch the scenery fly by. 767 is usually a nice aircraft, the seat looked nice to me. Happy travels to you.
reply

US airlines in general seem to follow a model whereby they keep the planes in their fleet until the wings fall off. That B767 must have been seriously old. Irrespective, Delta looks like a good airline.
reply

As I understand it this is the older gen biz class which is getting phased out. 350s have the new seats. Cleaning is a bummer tho. It doesnt take a multimillion dollar retrofit to clean the seats
reply

Open almost always unless in the very very unlikely chance I take a nap or if the sun is shining strait through the window strait into my eyes blinding me to were I cant eat the over priced food.
reply

When I was on the 787 I kept my window arround halfway dimmed, except for the sunrise. But on most other flights when we reatch crusing I close it so other people wont get mad at me.

You should really try business class on their 767-400 to Hawaii (from atl, msp, or det) this summer. It's like a longer east coast to Europe flight. Great video, as always!
reply

I do leave my window open but when I sleep and the sun glares threw the window, then I just close it. And why dont I use eye shades, because AA doesnt provide anything
reply

You weren't being picky, that plan needed a complete steam clean probably why the plane had been relegated to domestic. Even the seat cards were battered
reply

Keeping window shades up? I hate being forced to close window shades. One of the joys of flying is being able to watch the clouds and changing light.
reply

I usually open my window so i can take pictures of the sky. And feel more grateful for having the opportunity to see those wonderful skies: )
reply

At 4: 37 dang that aircraft lands really hard jeez, i was listening with my headphone and i can feel the effect hardly on the landing
reply

Im flying Delta as a UM in two weeks from PHX to ATL. It better be a 737, 757, or a 767 because if it aint Boeing, it aint going.
reply

I was on a domestic 767 from atl to lax and it wasn't the international cabin and I was sitting business and man I was pissed.
reply

The 767's are older aircraft, but as with most older Delta planes, they are very well-kept with newer interior fittings.
reply

I need a window seat when I fly, and that window stays OPEN! The views are the best in-flight entertainment!
reply

Window open. What is your preferred travel EDC and carrry-on for both domestic and international travel / flights?
reply

I appreciate your efforts in making those reviews! Very smooth and objective. Loved to watch more of your videos!
reply

Why would anyone call a business class seat a coffin? I guess they can trade me for my seat back in steerage.
reply
