As this airport is closest to where I live, I've found that the Customs and Immigration area is a pain to get through when arriving back home from travelling internationally, sometimes security is bad and overcrowded as well and the TSA agents can be rude and also can be selective on which passengers they are nice too and which ones they are rude too. I've lost my ID at security and a TSA agent miscommunicated with my sister about which bin too put her phone in, which caused her to leave her phone behind at security and miss her flight, security isn't very organized at the airport and can at times be extremely chaotic and frustrating. When I went to pick up my newly adopted dog that was travelling and was cargo, and when I got to the oversized cargo area where my dog was, I was horrified on how the cargo handlers were handling my dog that was in a crate, they were just treating a live animal like it was a suitcase. Also, the food options I don't like as in some areas of the airport, there aren't many food options, like on a JetBlue flight the only thing near the gate I was at was a bagel place and the N Terminal in the area where I was at barely had any food options. Also, some of the airline ticketing workers and gate agents can be a little snooty and rude and my luggage has been lost a few times. Other than those things, the airport is pretty decent.

I live next to Seatac and drive the road next to the massive wall shown in the video every day. I have memories of going with my dad to SEA when he traveled for Boeing, we used to park right in front of the terminal. I followed his passion for travel and airlines. I worked for Western/Delta for 15 years out of the building that is now the Delta hanger, it used to house the reservation sales office as well as the planes below it. When they closed the office I left the industry after 18 years. I worked every position you could except cleaning, FA and pilot lol. Some of my favorite memories were early mornings working in baggage, on the tarmac as the plane from Alaska rolled up to it's gate position and we waited with the belt loaders, just as the sun was coming up. Seatac is extremely well run and it's neighbors don't have any complaints about it. It has come a long way baby!

One important, and sometimes hidden gem at SeaTac is the USO. SeaTac's USO is one of the best I have ever seen. It is open 24/7 and staffed by volunteers to help Military Service members who are traveling to the far East on military flights. These wonderful volunteers will store your bags, have a lounge, snacks / food, and a place for Service members to get some sleep before their flights. This is very helpful since we usually have numerous bags (especially if we are traveling for a permanent change of station) and long layovers. If you are back at SEA, I recommend you stop by and see what these folks do for our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, Coast Guardsmen, and Guardians. As USOs go, they get 5 Stars on the Steve (can't use Jeb Scale) Scale for USO lounges. Great video, and I look forward to seeing more.

Gotta love SERENDIPITY: a month (or so) ago, I booked a (return) British Airways ticket [ great-price, too ] for this December, routing DUB - LHR - YVR [ BA84/85 currently served by A380; equipment switched to B777, for 'winter' season ]; then, yesterday, I checked my booking and to my pleasant surprise [ and, courtesy of the IAG airline-interoperable ticketing-system ] I am now being routed DUB - SEA [ Aer Lingus ] - YVR [ Horizon Air Embraer E175 ] - LHR - DUB [ British Airways ]. This re-routing excites me as, I will be able to pass through US-CBP, at DUB, fly an Aer Lingus widebody A330 to 'Seattle-Tacoma International', and then transfer onto a regional US-carrier, operating on behalf of Alaska Airlines - which along with BA, is a member of the 'Oneworld' airline-alliance. Roll on winter.

I am old enough to remember SeaTac when it had just two concourses, what are today known as A and D. This would have been mid 60's. There was no parking garage and the original 1940's terminal still welcomed travelers. Concourses B and C were added, and then, all of a suddent the airport went through a massive reconstruction. (I believe it reoponed with a greatly expanded main terminal in 1973, along with the addition of the two new satellite terminals of which the North satellite has been greatly expanded) But, as this video points out a major airport on this amount of land in unusual. But it seems to work!

Hi Jeb, I enjoy all your video content. I really like this Airport series. Hope you'll be able to continue to do more of these. Also, it's funny how you mentioned that SEATAC has the second largest parking structure and West Edmonton Mall(I believe it's the 2nd largest mall in the world and largest outside of Asia) has the largest. I didn't know that even though I live in Edmonton. Wish you can come and visit our city sometime and do a piece on our humble International airport(EIA. Keep up with the good work. SeaTac was a good place to eat. Today it is average or below average and the prices are brutal. The main carrier serving SeaTac is becoming more phony by the year. In that regard, it mirrors Seattle itself.

I totally get what you mean about running to baggage claim or the gate and not really admiring the airport. I tried to be a little more attentive this time around during my domestic travels and really enjoy the facilities. LGA looks really amazing and modern. SEA feels easier when you're flying out than when you're flying in, in which case it can feel like a labyrinth if you arrived on one of the further away terminals. However, you can't beat the easy public transportation to the airport, that is a high point.

I can speak for MANY seattleans, this is not a fascinating accomplishment but an utter catastrophy, noise pollution is major and huge here even from downtown seattle which is at least 30minutes away from SEATAC.

Jeb, one of these days I really hope you can do something at your home airport GSO, where two Air Traffic Controllers (AG&RH) work that host a fantastic podcast called Opposing Bases that's at the top of the ratings for aviation. Getting a tour of their tower and TRACON would be awesome to show people how ATC works to make sure planes move safely and efficiently.

I live in Normandy Park. When its foggy and a late night international heavy lands. The thrust reversers sound like the screams of damned souls.

What they really need is for pierce County to get off the pot and approve a south sound terminal with light rail or bus access to big main terminal. Spread out the pain.

As a Seattle local, I am a big fan of SEA airport. It serves as a hub for both of my 2 favorite US airlines, Alaska and Delta. I am also a fan of the design of the airport, such as how the people movers are after security so you can move between concourses without having to go through security again. Very nice airport.

Was just at SeaTac a week ago, having to hoof it to A20, which is a bus gate to remote stand for the Delta E175. Definitely its a tight gate situation when not all of them are online. Still always one of my favorite airports despite its age. Great food and shops, many open at midnight for those red eyes.

The question is: Sea-Tac Airport was built in unincorporated King County, WA before the incorporation of SeaTac, WA in 1990 as a new Seattle suburb.
My guessing answer is false, by the way.

Love the series! For your (very) long-term list, I hope you'll come to MCI once the new terminal is open, hopefully in the spring of 2023. Or feel free to stop by sooner and get some footage of what the terminals are like now, so the new terminal will look even better by comparison! :D

Thanks for doing this video on Seattle Tacoma international airport SEA which is my home City airport. You should have also included references to Snohomish County Plaine field airport PAE in Everett WA and Bellingham Washington airport BLI which some people use instead of SEA.

That said, Id much rather work for the airline than the airport. Sure, you learn the ins and outs, but you cant log onto a website and book a free flight to anywhere in the world.

Ha! You mentioned the date November 20th, that is also my birthday! Loved this video. I think airports are the most fascinating places. So far, my favorite airport to roam around is ATL. I had about a 5 hour layover, did a lot of exploring there.

Unfortunately, SeaTac Airport has most flowing luggage in the States. I lost mine or mine was missing a few times. All was still in Seattle when I arrived final destinations. I think SEA is unbelievably too big(busy) to handle all luggage.

Seattle Airport is a nightmare, I'm English and have been there three times. Nothing is very clear, especially picking up your luggage and that train thing is so confusing. There is no-one available to give help or advice.

Seattle Tacoma International Airport is much better than Portland International Airport is because it offers more flights to more destinations which reduces the need for taking flights requiring connections.

Great video! My only feedback for you as a videographer - it's hard to read the titles for some of the people you interviewed because the font was white and it's hard to read. Just some food for thought!

I always remembered sitting in the food court gazing at the planes flying in and out of SeaTac for hours. Having worked at the airport, I certainly appreciate it a lot more than I did as a kid!

I go through SEA Airport on a annual basis flying to Oregon. I really like the mall area where there's a couple stories of windows, cause you can see out onto the tarmac. I'm a BIG FAA fanatic.

Just seens Sea-Tac Airport over the labor day weekend. Loved the airport. Even when thru the 2nd world's largest parking ramp and didn't even know it until I watched your video! Great job!

Ive flown all over and I think SeaTac is my favorite major airport in the US. I tend to be willing to pay a little extra to fly to SeaTac instead of LAX. I cant stand LAX.

I live in Spokane, in Eastern Washington and I travel to Seattle for most of my connections. YES, SEATAC is an awesome airport and I love flying in and out of there.

There is a bridge at London Gatwick (LGW) which allows a 747 to pass underneath and they regularly did when virgin Atlantic still operated them on their LGW-MCO
