me: There was this one time when I saw an Alaska sign on an airplane so then I thought the plane was coming from Alaska. It was flying Westwards though and was about to land at an airport in California. Alaska is Northwest of California. I was like If that plane is coming from Alaska to California and Alaska is West of California, then why is that plane going Westwards rather than going Eastwards? It should be heading further and further away from Alaska; not heading towards it.

If you fly enough on any airline, you're eventually going to run into issues. A lot of times it's not even the Airline's fault. That being said, I've always had a pleasant experience with Alaska and they've made up the majority of any flight I've taken in recent memory.
I'm neither a frequent nor a high-end traveler however I'm flying out to Dallas in a few months and the First Class price was reasonable enough for me to afford. I've managed to upgrade a couple of times in the past but that was years ago and these flights will be on the 737 900 and the MAX, so I'm excited about my first full round-trip first-class experience even if it's not the Emirates.

Nice video. I was in the city of Seattle when you transited, on a work trip that put me outdoors much of the day when it was that HOT! Seattle's dry 110 felt like a 95 degree day in the humidity of the other Washington (DC, not to minimize the issue because 95 with humidity is brutal.
As for why RDU-SEA is not a Transcontinental route, it all boils down to how many high-yield-paying passengers and how much competition for them is on the route. RDU is a smaller market, but its competition on both ends from DL might make it more competitive going forward.

Hi Jeb. absolutely love your videos. But I disagree on Alaska. I flew them round trip last month (October 2022) First Class from LA to Seattle. Food absolutely sucked. Worst ever on a domedtic First Class. A small micro-portion salad - just some stale lettuce and 2 pieces of carrot on the outbound, and a micro portion of cheese and fruit (like 3 pieces) on the return. Alaska had the gall to serve both of these as a lunch entree! And their coffee was horrible, barely drinkable. In flight service was a C. This airline sucks. I would never fly them again.

I know I'm commenting late, but this video has me excited! Just popped up on my recommended feed and my mom and I are taking an Alaskan cruise out of Vancouver in September. We are flying from Tampa to Seattle (and onward to Vancouver) via Alaska Airlines in FC as well! Flight time looks only a little longer than your flight (at 6ish hours) so I'm hoping it counts as Transcontinental, otherwise I'll be just as confused I'm sure! Love your videos! They have me so excited to travel myself!

Jeb i had a chance too fly too charleston sc in may 2004 in first class on usair was seated in row 1a the entire flights i was on i had too connect in raleigh nc short layover enough time for smoke break i would like too share my opinions on check in 5 stars wait at boarding gate 1/2 hour 4 stars set and leg room 5 stars beverage service 5 stars ife 0 stars service 4 stars 0stars for lounge 18/25 stars flights from too pvd too charleston

Years ago I worked for Northwest Airlines in Customer Relations. I cannot tell you how many people called me to complain that they missed their flight because they were told that it was delayed and ended up leaving on time. They left the gate area and were not there when it got put back on time. Always, always, always stay in or near your gate even if you are told that the flight is delayed. You never know.

We went to Fairbanks on a mission Tito this summer we did not fly Alaskan but we flew delta there and United back both airlines were great but from the people we were with Alaskan airlines was canceling and delaying flights out and in of Alaska and Seattle left and right and they didnt fly into the smaller airport we wanted to fly out of but thats was fine because we live in Georgia

That is the price I paid r/t from Europe to San Diego in November with British Airways. The US, which has always been cheaper than Europe, is now much more expensive regarding flights, hotels and restaurants.

I flew Alaska from SFO to Newark a few weeks ago; here is my even more subjective Mike Score:
Lounge: 0/5 Im a poor economy passenger so I was in the regular terminal with the rest of the peasants
Food: 2/5: Northwest deli box was mid
Seat: 3/5: Enough legroom for economy, and it was not uncomfortable
Service: 5/5: very nice flight attendants, no problems

Seattle Alaska lounge no longer gives first class domestic ticket holders access. At JFK, you get lounge access (even AC) if you are going to LA/SNA/SFO I'll never understand why JFK to SEA is not considered a perk worthy route. Yet 3 airports in CA are considered perk worthy. Seattle is farther than any of those CA airports.

Don't use Alaska Airlines if you want to get your luggage back! They are the WORST when it comes to keeping track of your luggage! They lost mine between Seattle and SLC and ended up dumping it on my porch at 3am! Thank GOD I heard them drop it off or my luggage would have been stolen off my own porch!

Domestic first class with US carriers seems like economy on international flights especially with European carriers. British airways force feed first class passengers, a full English breakfast, coffee and a bottle of champagne on a 1hour hop from London to Paris or Amsterdam

Alaska Airlines is actually one of my favorite airlines Ive flown on. During my junior year of high school my moms friend got married in Honolulu. We flew from Detroit, to Seattle, to LA, then Honolulu. Idk why the route was so jumpy, but I enjoyed myself the whole time.

Perhaps a flight from DCA (Washington DC Reagan) is considered continental because DC is on the tidal Potomac River, so only a bit above sea level. RDU (Raleigh-Durham) is comparatively further inland, sitting at 463 feet elevation. That's arguably trivial, I get it.

The move for AlaskaAir IFE is to bring an iPad with a foleo case. Stick the back of the bit in the safety card pocket, and you get the same IFE experience as on a built in screen except better cause you can use your Bluetooth headphones: )

I miss commuting out of that airport so much. It was the best to get in and out of almost every single day. I flew for a Delta regional and commuted from RDU to LGA, JFK, DTW and MSP for years and it was always pretty good.

Nicely done as always. When I go stateside (Im Australian, its either AA, Alaska or SouthWest. Alaskan has always had fantastic service. Including a fun Portland to LA flight on a 737-900 with 18 passengers.

We flew Alaska from Cincinnati (CVG) to Seattle (SEA) for our NCL Encore round trip cruise to/from Seattle and loved it. We would certainly fly Alaska again if the itinerary would be available.

RDU is 40th in terms of number of boarding passengers, and is a smaller (but growing) market. So probably not as good catering options in addition to its size

Im from washington, have used alaska airlines every time. Its such a reliable airliner. Good food, comfortable seats, friendly staff. Who could ask for more?

Wholeheartedly agree. We have reservations for First Class in August; Chicago-Seattle-Anchorage. Alaska is 1/3 of United (my preferred airline. No brainer!
