ATL is a huge airport. 3 Weeks ago I was in Hartsfield coming from Frankfurt in Terminal F with a stopover to BNA. The plane was not delayed, so I had enough time getting to Gate B for my domestic flight. My flight return from BNA to AtL had a big delay. I had no chance getting in 15 Minutes to the F-Terminal from Gate A. The international flight home to FRA I had booked dont wait. Delta booked me on the Flight to Paris and from Paris with Air France to Frankfurt. This was no problem for me, because Delta gave me 30. 000 Delta Sky Miles on my Account. I said thank you, it can happen all the time!

I am coming up on 2M with Delta (about 15k short. I have never missed a connection in Atlanta - I have actually only missed one connection period - and that was in Detroit. Often times you remark about how truly fortunate we are to be able to fly in these incredible machines. I like to add how fortunate we are that we have such incredible airports and airport staff who make it all come together. ATL is a small city - all working together to get us from A to C, through B (ATL. Every once in a while you catch someone having a bad day, but for the most part - it is truly amazing.

Nice video. Knowing the time to get from one place to the other is good to know info. Unfortunately, I'm pretty familiar with Atlanta. My closest airport is El Paso, TX, and it doesn't matter where you're' going, if you're flying Delta, you're going to Atlanta first. Occasionally (rarely) you can find one to Salt Lake City. When I have enough time and during open hours, I frequent the USO. It's outside security though so I need quite a bit of layover.

My first ever flight included a layover at ATL, but the real story happens before my orig departure. In '95, I was boarding solo as a child from MLU to LGA to spend the summer with my dad. My mom asked the agent if she and my other relatives could escort me on the plane (pre 9/11 of course. Needless to say, they almost got a free trip to Atlanta that day as the cabin door shut and the plane started to push back.

ATL is my favorite airport to make transfers in. I've never missed a connection there. The only day it wasn't my fave was the date in Dec. 2017 when the whole airport was shut down due to a fire between Concourses C & D. Saw the firetrucks as we were landing. Was on our plane for about 8 hours after landing. But the marvelous staff there had my luggage on the correct flight the next morning.

Okay question, you get off your first flight, and you have checked bags, do those just get put on the new plane or do you have to go to baggage claim get them then go back through security and recheck. Cause I'll have a layover at LAX that's only 1 hour 20 mins and there's no way I'd make it through LAX TSA like in less than an hour and make my next flight if I have to recheck and everything

Hey Jeb wished I wouldve saw this video few day earlier had a trip to ATL Airport in boy was I lost but Thxz to the airport attendant found my way on the train to the gate n to the baggage claim
The best part of the trip was the sky lounge club at ATL Delta nice was just lil over crowded compared to the sky lounge club at ORD but over all the food was great

The SkyClub at Austin-Bergstrom AUS is similar to this at F gates. I know you visited AUS on your low cost carrier comparison, but you visited the south terminal. The Barbara Jordan terminal is the main terminal at AUS. You should definitely do a revisit to Austin flying through the main terminal, especially now that we have move flights leaving this airport

I once had a 4 hour layover in that airport so I decided to walk the whole airport. I walked the length of all concourses and then walked in between them (I did cheat and take the train if one pulled in. All in all it took me about 3 hours to walk the whole airport. I did dilly dally as you said a few times. I also tried getting on an earlier flight out.

Thank you Jeb - I have never lost my fascination with the ATL airport. as a kid, I explored old Hartsfield, which actually had an observation deck, but of course we outgrew that terminal about the time it was finished. then, the existing airport was built, but none of us knew what it was to become. See you in the skies! AND. at the airport in ATL!
reply

yee haw! Hartsfield Latoya Jackson Intergalactic Spaceport and Nail Emporium
Nowadays, if your flying international you can enter the terminal thru a seperate gate - separate parking, transport. Makes it easier than having to travel thru the entire airport. Another great video and quite helpful, I'm sure, to those who do alot of traveling.

Jeb---this is excellent. Thank you! We are connecting from CLE-ATL-George Town Bahamas in a few weeks. We simply go from our arrival terminal at Atlanta to our departure terminal to leave for the Bahamas. No need to go thru customs or passport control, correct? We do that on the return trip from what I understand. Thank you!
reply

Thanks, Jeb. Haven't been thru ATL, but I will one day and this end-to-end tour is sure helpful. I did a similar thing at Changi Airport, Singapore. Walked from T3 to T1 without using the moving walkways and trains. Took me just over an hour (I think it was 1hr 12 mins. Oh, the things we dedicated avgeeks do! LOL

I had a several hour layover in Atlanta a year or so ago, needed to get some exercise between flights! It took me about the same amount of walking time to go from one end of the airport to the other. I did take the train back to my departing terminal though! I really enjoy the rainforest section.

Help, Im 23 and I recently got a traveling. I have a lay over in ATLANTA. This is my first time traveling/ flying ever and Im doing it alone. Im coming from CLT. Is it hard to get to my gate. my plane lands at 7: 03am and my flight departs from ATLANTA 8: 38am. I need help, Im flying Delta
reply

I'll have a close to 4 hour layover in Atlanta in June because I expected to do an enrollment on arrival interview for Global Entry when I booked the flight. I did the interview at Schiphol airport yesterday and got approved, so I should have plenty of time to explore the airport in June
reply

Thank you so much for this video! I never knew that information about minimum connection time and I was getting anxious about my one hour connection (domestic to international) on my trip this fall. The walk through between all the concourses and the time it took really eased my worries!
reply

Arriving from overseas to the US can take up to 1 hour to clear immigration. A connection can be tight AF. I guess it is good to book a connection long enough to sort out eventualities. Maybe this is not that issue with ATL, but goes for other airports as well.
reply

Was wondering why it says your arrival gate is c40 but you ended up at d13? I'm a first time flyer from Boston, with a connection in Atlanta to my final destination in Tulsa, trying to make sure I do everything right!
reply

Definitely check out the underground art exhibits if you have time. It's healthy and everyone can use some more steps. If you don't have lounge access and need a quiet gate area to chill, I always go to the E or F gates
reply

thanks for this very helpful video! I'm using Atlanta as my connecting airport and it will be my first time being there, I was a little intimidated because I've heard it's a big airport and very busy as well.
reply

Just a note: Delta Sky Clubs no longer sell One-Day Passes, although some are available on eBay. As far as Priority Pass, The Club is the only PP Lounge in ATL. Priority Pass in U. S. is rapidly becoming useless.
reply

Have you or anyone had a connection in ATL after coming back into the country? I have global entry and pre check but wondering how crazy itll be even with that based on what Ive seen on social media lately.
reply

Nothing like a 32-minute connecting time - and getting a notice that your flight has started boarding WHILE you are still taxiing to the gate on your initial flight! I thought I'd never make it.

Question: I have connecting flights from Atlanta to Colombia in beginning of Jan 2023. How will be weather caste in Atlanta beginning of Jan. Will there be lots of flights cancel due to bad weather?
reply

I unfortunately only have a 1h50m layover after arriving back from a very full international flight. My hope is customs doesn't take too crazy long. haha. Thanks for showing off the airport!
reply

NEVER NEVER NEVER through your cursed country again! The only place in the world that makes you collect your bags off the carousel and take it through customs even when transiting
reply

Nice video & looks like we did, after all, finally find what those masks really are good for! They muffle your voice and make it difficult for the viewer to hear you!
reply

One time I was connecting through Atlanta and we worried that we would have to run across the airport. The gate was right across from the one we got off from lol
