i see the Rocky Mountaineer trains through Fruita, Colorado, where I live most of the year. They are clean and handsome, and for travelers that want to be waited on every minute, it's an elegant trip. I've ridden Amtrak from Green River and Grand Junction to Glenwood Springs ad Denver many times- it's always fun to travel this train route!
A few missing comments, Jeb. I think you stayed in the iconic Hotel Colorado in Glenwood Springs, the 'Western White House' for Teddy Roosevelt, and also a hangout of gangster Al Capone. The hot springs are at the VERY BEST on cold, drippy days (I love them when it when it's snowing) What you thought was the Grand Mesa was The Book Cliffs, the world's largest continuous escarpment, stretching 200 miles from the Grand Valley of Colorado to central Utah. The handsome wild brown and white horned ungulates are pronghorn antelope, btw. In closing, thanks for not 'dissing' the Union Pacific for making the sightseeing trains wait- they do that with Amtrak, too. After all, the hard-working laborers (many Irish and Chinese immigrants) of the Union Pacific and Central Pacific built the transcontinental line in the 1860s, and we're so fortunate to have the route as a scenic corridor!

There's an old saying and a good saying Jeb you get what you pay for, sounds like you got your moneys worth, especially as Ive seen some of those Amtrak cars you've travelled on. Thank you for another great journey. As you say the journey is the trip. If you are time poor there's no point in going by rail otherwise leave your watch at home: ). Looked like lovely food and snacks too and thanks for not showing every mouthful going into your mouth as so many others think is necessary, I cut those videos off pretty shortly! Sleepers on trains might be a novelty to do once or twice but Im sure hotels are more comfortable, I seem to remember your lovely lady (Im so sorry I dont know her name) wasnt to enthralled with sleeping on the Ghan. Great stuff thank you! cheers from Western Australia. by the way did you ever do the Indian Pacific train trip In Oz when you did the Ghan? Is there other videos you dont show here?

Honestly I'm pretty surprised you didn't mention the Ski Train which has used that original route out of the city as long as I can remember. The train ride through Boulder to the Moffat Tunnel has always been an amazing trip so as far as what you guys do a bit surprised you didn't know anything about that few miles out of the city; even as a kid I remember a few trips on the original Ski Train that has used the same route. Really excited to take this all the way to Moab soon but there is an enormous history of this line that again I'm surprised you didn't bring up. You guys rock just so you know I'm not a hater. Wish I could live that pure travel life!

This video should be titled, all the reasons to NOT take this overpriced (obviously 2nd rate) junket. Everything from having to take a crappy bus ride to get to the train because the train doesn't stop at Union Station (where the trip must originate) to countless unscheduled delays along the way where you sit sidelined for hours. Despite the video hosts obvious childish attempts to excuse away the defects of the trip with But who cares it is painstakingly obvious that the logistics of this excursion need some serious work. NO THANKS.

I just watched this on TV, but you can't comment there. The food on this trip looked delicious. I went to Canyonlands and Arches many years ago, and they were the most spectacular scenery I had ever seen, until I saw the Grand Canyon three years ago. I actually cried the first time I saw the Grand Canyon. The video was great and really showed what the trip was like. Thank you.

I like the IDEA of taking the train. But I'm not so sure I would want to spend so much more and have so much less control over my travel.
All through this video, I kept thinking how I would want to stop more often and enjoy every town or scenic view! Probably for more days and nights (a good thing) and for less than $1, 000 $1, 500 for two!

Foot rets! I wish our commuter train had that. I was putting mine on my backpack. Ok, I realize your costs but I suppose a once lifetime experience makes it worthwhile. Amtrack has given rough riders experience. Ill leave it at that. Did you say the train you only operates in decent weather, not to include the winter months?

Worst travel & train experience of our lives. was onboard with 8 guests and immature children serving F&B and they lied about beverage service being limited to one glass of wine per hour per canadian law? They totally made it up to justify their slow service. STAY AWAY from this experience or nightmare in our case.

Hi Jeb just a question for you, how many high end watches do you own? I do love seeing all your videos especially the amtrak trips, have me wanting to know prices in your videos as well. My wife and I might want to go from Baltimore to Flagstaff AZ

Luxurious train? Maybe by American standards, but Japan has buses more luxurious than that and their trains are so far ahead it is no contest. They also have the benefit of not coming off the tracks like US trains.

Were considering this train for a western Canadian trip but for this one, take Amtrak. And you leave from Union Station. Scenery is fabulous the entire trip.

These are the same coaches used between Vancouver Pacific Central to Jasper/Banf. Kudos to the engineers and builders who created this marvel of a route

It sure is a nice train. Like you said Rocky Mountaineer has their own locomotives but Union Pacific is doing this route. Sure looks like a great trip.

Great video, what you referred to the grand mesa is actually the Colorado national monument. The grand mesa is 180 degrees opposite of the monument

I wonder if these videos are available for purchase on DVD?
I'm unable to travel and am very thankful to enjoy this experience through videos.

When did you travel on the California Zephyr? I dont remember observation car limited to only 2 hours in 2020 before lockdown. Thats awful!

Excellent cover of the trip. Congratulations. U are requested for less showing yourself and talking in your coming videos.
Thanks.

Yes I would like to have the experience you had on the train. Too bad I am not rich and can't afford it. Thanks for sharing.

A question: Why was the train not boarded at Union Station? Was it too long? Was the station too busy? I'm curious.

My husband saw your video and now w both want to take this trip! I think the Silver Leaf would be great for us to!
reply

I want to take a train from Vancouver to Toronto
Can anyone recommend the best one to take on a limited budget

These coaches looks much better then the Amtrack ones wy don't Amtrack replace tey coaches with this type?
reply

Is it better to start in Moab, or start in Denver? I'm thinking Moab since that train starts a little later?
reply

This is beautiful! Love the big windows, not claustrophobic like other trains and the scenery was AMAZING!
reply

The rock paper scissors from the passing vehicles and the mooner were my second favorite to the views

My first train trip with Jeb. NIcely narrated. Reminds me of the Bergen-Oslo train trip with Steve Marsh.
