Watch this video to go behind the scenes at Wisconsin's Largest Airport, Milwaukee Mitchell International MKE! In this video, you'll see the terminal and its recent renovation as well as other, less common spots! You'll see how TSA sorts and scans thousands of bags each day in their super high-tech facility. We'll explore their cutting edge Milwaukee Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) facility and see the many vehicles they use. Perhaps best of all, we'll even see the MASSIVE machines the airport uses to continue its operations even in the harshest of winter weather!

When I first saw the title to the video, I was thinking what airport is this. Then, I found out it was General Mitchell Field Airport, I had to check it out. There were some familiar things that I have seen from being in the airport, especially the Summerfest store, but I did not know there was a recombobulation area in the airport. I need to check out that area, the next time I fly. Overall, I really enjoyed this video report of my hometown airport. I am looking forward to more videos in the future. Thank you.

Flew into MKE numerous times when doing oversight for a project in Zion, IL. Flew into ORD a few times - such a hassle to get a car and then drive North - much easier to get a car and then drive South at MKE. Nice airport. There is a good local restaurant nearby - the Packing House - usually ended up catching the first flight of the day home, so have had several great meals at the Packing House. Nice review of the MKE airport.

Ive been there once back in 2007 when Midwest Airlines existed and had a hub there when flying from Omaha to Orlando. The planes were Fairchild Donnier Regional Jet, Boeing 717, and an MD-80 I was on. The Boeing 717 was from MKE to OMA and all seats were first class, MD-80 was from MKE to MCO to MKE and the FRJ was OMA to MKE (Midwest Connection operated by Skyway Airlines.

How about a video on MDW, Chicago's 2nd airport [named in honour of the WW II Battle of Midway]. It's presently the fastest growing airport in North America if statistics are anything to go by. Seven airlines offer scheduled service to approximately 109 airports in 6 countries. DL is the only 'legacy' carrier at MDW, but offers service on the B-757 and A320 to/from ATL.

Thank you for providing an inside look into MKE. I used to be a service executive for a major telecommunications company. My primary interface with an airport was through their IT department. They were responsible for all wireless and wireline needs, including emergency communication devices, data bandwidth and a lot more. These people are the unsung heroes of aviation.

Living 50 minutes from O'Hare and 40 from MKE, I'm fortunate to have great options when flying. Some even call MKE Chicago's third airport. With that being said, flying out of MKE is by far the preferred choice. Milwaukee and Wisconsin are great places to visit, especially in the summer. If anyone wants to visit MKE, but needs ideas of things to do and see let me know!

I grew up in Wisconsin and am quite familiar with MKE. I have seen it transform into what it is now. I also work in aviation (military not commercial) so I appreciate all that you have shared in this video as there are so many aspects to commercial aviation. I no longer live in Wisconsin but will fly into either MKE or MSN to visit family.

This is a great vlog Jeb love this Airport who have obviously gone out of their way to make travel through the airport as interesting and stress less as possible and maybe you are onto a new type of aviation vlogging in doing more like this checking out airports around the country and possibly the world so hope for more like this

Hello Jeb and thanks for the great video about MKE. I'm the photographer the took the A380 photograph at the beginning of your video. I peed n the floor a little in the bathroom there. Know how your junk get all scrunched up and stuck together on a flight? I had to go so bad I never calibrated it right and the sights were waaaaay right. By the time I corrected the shot, it was too late and the damage was done. Sorry Cheese folk.

Jen,
Thanks for sharing this video and information. I grew up passing by MKE on the roads from Chicago to Oshkosh and points North. You behind the scenes aspects were especially interesting to me as a Retired USAF Officer. With experience behind the scenes on USAF Bases too.

5: 01. Look above Jeb's right shoulder and you'll see a little green circle with a Wisconsin shape in it. That means that restaurant is stocked from Wisconsin farms. Let me tell you that means the food is better than a restaurant normally stocked by Costoco.

Flown into the airport but didnt think much of it. Took Northwest which tells you how long ago it was lol. Wish I had a longer stay to just see the city. The only thing I hated was the crosswinds on landing and takeoff not sure if you experienced that.

Jeb, thanks for showcasing my hometown airport. I fly often for work, and I feel MKE offers the best balance of destinations, while being easy to navigate. Being able to park right next to the terminal is a huge plus as well.

Great video. It brought back a lot of memories of my time in the 440th Air Force Reserves, flying in the C-130's and the refuelers at the 128th and working at Midwest Airlines. Thanks for the video.

Second-hand bookstore in an Airport! What a FANTASTIC idea. I am blown away!
. AND a direct connection with AMTRAK. A full 24h aviation museum. This airport is what an airport should be.

I enjoy this airport I flown out of it a few times and it was really cool to see this airport and the 128 Air Refueling Wing of course Is incredible to see These old tankers still fly today!

How can you call Mitchell International Airport Quirky? It is easy to get around. The longest wait at TSA is about 10 minutes. The food options are bit limited, but MKE is fairly nice.

Great Video Jeb!
Would you ever want to review the three newest budget airlines? These Airlines are Avelo, Breeze, and Aha. I would like to see your review and experience!

This is the most bestest airport ever in the universe. Only second to MWC Lawrence J. Timmerman Airport. I can't wait to see that airport review. Go Brewers! Ahhhhhhhhhh.

What a neat airport--hopefully one day I jwould like to fly through there. I really liked the used bookstore and the program for high school students. Thank you for the video.

Really love the diversity of content you push out! Got excited when you said Wisconsin and I thought it was going to be MSN, but eyes was still glued even though it was Milwaukee!

What a great airport. I had the opportunity to visit the airport years ago behind the scenes and have traveled through several times since. Definitely a jewel. Good folks!

My granddaughter has flown into Milwaukee airport. I am new to your site have you done the review of the Rapid City South Dakota airport? Another really interesting airport.

Milwaukee is the only airport I recall where the TSA people didnt seem surprised that a passenger might be wearing steel toed safety shoes. A working class town!
reply

As someone who travels to Milwaukee frequently via Amtrak from Chicago, I often have been curious about this airport. Especially since I work at O'Hare (ORD.
