How to Fly to the FAROE ISLANDS with Atlantic Airways!

Watch this video to see what its like to travel with Atlantic Airways to one of the most remote, inhabited places in the North Atlantic Ocean, the Faroe Islands. In this video, youll see our trip from Norways capital, Oslo to Vagar Airport in the Faroe Islands. Youll get a sense for what its like to travel from Oslos Central Train Station to the citys airport and the airport experience once wed arrived. Spoiler Alert: Thanks to a pilots strike, it was a bit of a mess. Also, because Atlantic Airways only offers service to Oslo a couple of times each week, it was even more confusing. But well clear it up for you in this video. Once onboard, youll see Atlantic Airways seat, inflight entertainment, menu, and other amenities. And, at the end, well rate it all using the unscientific JebScore! Well even show you some of the greatest highlights from next weeks video featuring the experience we had while we were in the Faroe Islands!

I've been twice - both arrivals with Atlantic, but one departure with SAS. From Reykjavik (city airport) once and Copenhagen the second time. We did a go-around early in the approach the second time due to a snow storm. Weather there changes often, so we just held for half an hour, (while the one snow plow serviced the runway) and landed no issues. A Faroese couple behind us kept us informed since the pilot only gave announcements in Faroese and Danish. I had similarly looked up their fleet and arrival procedures beforehand, so had full confidence. Wonderful airline.

The Faroes might be a pretty looking place but never ignore the fact that theres some dark little secrets that most wouldnt know. Every year hundreds of whales and dolphins are herded into shallow bays in the Faroes where they are beached, killed and butchered for their meat in the name of cultural practice. In 2021, 1428 Atlantic white-sided dolphins were killed and suffered prolonged death in the process. This practice needs to stop, majority of the people of the Faroes doesnt even consume whale/dolphin meat, why does such cultural practices still seen in 2022?

Uh yes, the Faroes, my personal favourite in the north. Been there 2 times and a third time is basically set already. RC is indeed a great airline and many european carrier could take them as an example how to do things! Nevertheless I took the Wideroe Q400 to Bergen, when I returned from the Faroe Islands this spring. Yes, 1 hour and 45 minute Dash-8 flight over open water. Couldn't let this opportunity go, when I was there

Any flag carrier that doesn't actively crush domestic competition. ie certainly not Qantas though if I want an Australian antarctic flight I will have no choice. More sheep than people, houses with grass roofs, if you didn't show the flag or say it was 90 minutes from mainland Europe, people might have thought you were talking about New Zealand.

As a plane spotter, Atlantic Airways was a disappointment. The staff was not informative or nice. I wanted to fly round trip from Vagar on a helicopter, but I as told I couldn't do that. As such, I missed what I really wanted to do. However, the islands are like nothing else I have ever seen.

Great video and a place I would love to visit but I just don't think I could because of their whaling. Does things like this ever come into consideration when you visit a place and what is the whole situation there like? Is it on the menu in places? Did you see any activities

Hey Jeb and Suzanne. looks like it's gonna be an informative and really enjoyable series of vlogs from this trip to the Faroe Islands.
Can't wait for the next one.
If only it was a 2hour flight from where I live, I will put this destination on my bucket list

A number of years ago we were on a repositioning cruise starting in England. We went to the Faroe Islands, it was fascinating. Had a teacher for a guide, he was great. The trip included Greenland and Iceland etc. ending in NY A trip I will never forget

Spent one week on Faroe Islands last summer and I was so scared of the landing after watching countless videos and listening to my friends who've been there our landing was amazing phewww and had the most amazing stay!

Great video about a place that Id love to see for myself! Also, I fly quite a bit and assess my own Jeb Score based the same factors as you. Thanks and look forward to the video about the Faeroe island you visited.

Yes, definitely take Atlantic Airways when going to the Faroe Islands. Last I knew SAS pilots dont have the extra training and software that Atlantic does, so their landing rate is much lower than Atlantic.

Great video Jeb. Glad to see I am not the only av geek who adores the route maps in airline magazines. Still enjoy them when I can get them.

The overhead announcement at the Oslo airport sounds just like the one at Heathrow! I wonder if they use the same recording/ person.
