One part that wasn't mentioned while in Lincoln: Across the tarmac is Duncan Aviation, the largest family-owned aviation company in the world. They work on all kinds of jets and planes, including bodywork, interior work, custom paint jobs, engine work, and so much more. They have thousands of employees located around the world at three home bases and many satellite locations. And out of those thousands, hundreds have been with the company 25+ years. They have also partnered with our local public schools and career academy, and are introducing aviation to high school kids who are interested in a career in aviation. Also, the reason why you saw the touch-and-gos is because Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha was under renovation at that time and many of these large jets were relocated to here for about a year. Another fun fact is when the Space Shuttle was in operation, the runway at the Lincoln Airport was one of the designated emergency landing sites (8th in line, but was never used for that purpose. And we have the Air National Guard here. Your pitstop in a small community opened your world up so much more. This small airport is home to a bustling aviation community!

Jeb and Suzanne, love your videos. I am just curious, when you booked your flights were all of these cities in one booking offering, GSO to ORD, LNK, DEN, and then FAT? Or did you force the connection over LNK and use two different bookings? Anyway, it is certainly an interesting itinerary. I'm thinking of doing this sometime. I take alot of day trips on DL to keep my Silver Medallion status. Ive been on many a DL CRJ 200 btwn my hometown of EVV to DTW, this service is now suspended with only ATL as our connecting DL city. I took a 24 hour weekend trip to GSO during the pandemic when fares were very low, loved Piedmont Triad Airport, very convenient and easy to navigate. I made it over to INT to see the birthplace of the original Piedmont Airlines, one of my all time favorite airlines. Thanks for the great videos. Happy and safe travels. Duane in EVV

Not the right plane for the job!
Short thin routs. That's what it was made for.
Understand that someone tried to take the airframe engines and cockpit of a fairly large buisness jet and tried to adapt it into a commercila airliner.
You can maker a small commercial airliner like a BAE 146 or similar size commercial aircraft and make a private jet out of it. That DOES NOT mean you can go the other way! When you do, you get the CRJ, which is not bad for a run like Hamilton to Toronto or Raliegh Durham to Charlottesville and on the Washington Dulles but it is totally the wrong piece of equipment for a cross-counthy flight

I live in Amarillo, TX. Amarillo is at the top of the state. We have a small international airport that is mainly used to connect us to bigger cities like Dallas, Houston, Denver, and Albuquerque. All of these are 1-2 hours flights at most. Every single airline, except Southwest, uses this plane to get us to the bigger connecting cities. I fly on this plane 10-15 times a year for work. United still uses this plane to go to Houston out of Amarillo, flying on it next week. I have never minded this plane, yes its very small, but I don't have any complaints about it actually.

its odd she finds United Airlines to be the best. i had two flights, from Portland Maine to Newark, then to Fort Myers. Both got cancelled. We rented a car to Newark and drove 5 hours. Upon arrival, we spoke to customer service, and after a while we were able to find the exact same plane, and renew our tickets on it. The flight was delayed 5 times. On the flight back we had a very tight layover, which we almost missed, but thanks to the kind pilots they let people with tight layovers off first. I guess we all have had different experiences with United Airlines!

7: 04 An update on this: Delta has phased out the CRJ-200 from all routes except EAS routes.
For those who dont know what EAS routes are, theyre federally-subsidized flights that connect larger airports to small communities that are far away from an airport with sufficient service. The flights, typically 2x round-trip daily, have to be operated by aircraft no larger than 50 seats.
SkyWest operates a handful of EAS routes for Delta in Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. Because of the 50-seat restriction, they have to use the CRJ-200 for these flights.

Great review. I remember flying this plane from George Bush Airport (HOU) to the Savannah Airport. Wasnt that bad. Flying from LAX to George Bush prior aboard a 737 was scarier since it was a hard landing. Recently flying on a ANA Airbus 321 from KMI Miyazaki to Haneda/Tokyo was shaky and hard landing. The flight attendant actually made an announcement that the plane is safe despite the turbulence during its landing to Haneda/Tokyo airport.

Our home airport is South Bend, IN, so every time we flew (via United) our trip would begin with a connection to O'Hare on a CRJ200, with a flight time of 16-20 minutes. We grew tired of dealing with that pretty quickly, though, and nowadays we just make the drive to O'Hare to fly directly to our destination.

Personally I enjoy yhe CRJ 200. Have flown them regularly between WVB and CPT 1 hr 40 and alao betweew WVB and JNB 2 hr 15. Normally there were 2 attendants on board this 50- seater aircraft. Was surprised to see that this aircraft is apparently the most hated plane.

Ive flown on this plane probably 1000 times because of the small regional airports I fly in and out of and I didnt mind them until recent years. Theyre just so dated. Not having Wi-Fi and plugs at this point is pretty much unacceptable.

What's the future for these aircraft? I personally hope places like Lincoln get good rail connections to their nearby city (Omaha airport and Omaha) which enables more service from these hubs and a better experience for all.

I had guessed four segments correctly and was close on the arrival city. I thought Bakersfield or Fresno, but was leaning toward Bakersfield. If traveling alone, I prefer the ERJ with the single seat. Great video, Thanks!

Most hated? Piedmont YS-11 perhaps or maybe it was just Piedmont. Or maybe a 9 seater prop operated and they measure and weigh you before deciding who sits where, lol! Oh my gosh, how could I forget the luxurious C-130.

The Boeing 747 you saw at Lincoln wasn't just a unique aircraft. It was Air Force One, AKA the plane that transports the president of the United States. That's probably a once in a lifetime experience

$29. 00 flight You must have had that look. If they put you by the rest rooms. That means you were security for that flight. Always flush extra it will bring a breeze of cool air though the plane

These smaller planes doing short flights (less than 2 hours) should be BYO food. Airlines should offer free bottles of water. Keep the weight and costs down. 1 toilet only and hand luggage only.

One time on a CRJ we were over weight and they had to kick one guy off the flight. On another flight, we had to sit on the ramp and rev the engines to burn off fuel because we were overweight.

I actually have this plane in a game. It's really fast and difficult to actually land. I tried to land it and went around like 4+ times. The plane just sucks in-game and in real life

I flew one of these and I will never do it again. I am 64 with wide wide shoulders. I luckily had an empty seat next to me but I felt so embarrassed that I nearly walked off the plane

Not sure why this video was made. Suffering through 14 hours on a regional plane is just silly. Could not have been a cheap trip. Guess you got a video out of it, so congrats.

there are literally 30+ non-B class airspace (small) airports in CA with scheduled passenger flights using CRJs and some even see ATRs just like in the movies: )

I rode on a crj700 and it seemed like it was falling apart at the seams. That says a lot since I flew much smaller aircraft as a commercial pilot.
