I LOVED THIS VIDEO what a great one I was waiting for a Premium Economy showdown! Also at 1: 58 I would pay anywhere from $100-250 extra for a Premium Economy (extra legroom basically) seat on a 2-3 hour domestic flight. For an international trip well you’ll have to wait and see my Delta Comfort review on an international flight coming up soon!

Also I think Delta has the best Premium Economy seat of the big 3 at least in my book and why wasn’t Alaska Airlines in this comparison They have a Premium Economy on all their jets and fly a lot of 2-3 hour flights that you could’ve easily compared them in this same complaint about excluding Alaska from your Economy which is best video only flying the 3 not Alaska too.
I’m bummed as Alaska probably has THE BEST Premium Economy seat hard product even beating out Delta and a great soft product of excellent staff & cabin crews.
Finally at 3: 16 Small complaint; I’d justify booking Premium Economy even in the B717 with no IFE screens for the SHEER NOVELTY of it as the 717 is SO RARE & NIECE but AWESOME! Plus Premium Economy on the 717 gets to sit WAY FAR FORWARD almost in First way in front of the 717s wings & engines on the unique shape & vintage McDonell Douglas MD-80 inspired T-Tail & wings!

Do you ever take Avianca I have taken that for years because from SJO to SFO my first US stop is my destination so I don’t have to stay for hours in Houston, Dallas, etc. however, they’ve eliminated biz class that I used to fly for $1000. Now, economy plus is about the same and besides the seat, you pay for drinks, food, all. (Imagine, used to be napkins, silverware, personal service, courtesy bags! I have been told there is a direct flight from LAX to SJO but I don’t know if SFO to LAX is a domestic flight meaning I would need to pay for checked bags and bags are not checked through to SJO. Do you know anything about this I have made start/stop attempts to get off of Avianca but I have a ton of miles (collected mostly when they were not a shoestring operation) and I haven’t found a way to have a short, change plane only layover out of the country with my first stop in SFO. Your counsel would be appreciated!

See I don’t think of this as premium economy, it’s only extra legroom with American and delta having a little extra perk of free alcoholic beverages. And that kind of perk can have limited appeal anyway. There’s really nothing premium about the service here. I’d much rather see genuine premium service on the international routes. And it’s also important to note that United also offers that level of service to its premium transcontinental routes (EWR to either California hubs in LA or SF. I’d very much be interested to see what’s on offer on that route as it seems most United premium economy videos are done on international flights.

You are my personal favorite travel vlogger but this one (imo) missed the mark bc of brand confusion. Domestic flights have this front-of- cabin experience in the same economy cabin so I don't think premium is the appropriate word for all 3. I would say economy plus comparison. These same 3 carriers have invested $100s of millions in ACTUAL and separate premium plus cabins with substantially different seats, space, menus, and services for their coveted international routes. Those are actual premium, imo.

There are some problems that I see. Well I'm not Jeb so maybe I could be wrong but I hope he sees this and corrects me. The prices should be each airline for the same route. I heard that certain routes are just cheaper or more expensive because of the demand. If he tells us the price of the one airline for different routes, it doesn't help us with the comparison. Also I think for certain airlines, refreshments and meals depend on the miles so the second flight looks shorter. I don't know. I'm posting this at the 2 minute mark.

i'm personally a pretty small dude and only 5'10 and i fit perfect inside the basic economy seats, i am very happy for local US Flights sitting economy, but for them longer flights as i do 3x a year, i book premium economy or first class on United, i only treat myself to first class once a year though when i do the super long 16 hour flight from Washington Dulles to Cape Town South Africa! cuz that extra comfort is needed in my opinion, hope this gave an insight to you Jeb! awesome video as always! united polaris is a must!

I am 6'1 (1. 85m, and I am fine with the basic economy for domestic flights. It's literally over 2x the cost just to be slightly more comfortable in a a short 2-4 hour flight (there are far cheaper airlines with basically the same seats and I never carry-on, just backpack. The seats aren't any wider anyway. International flights this would make more sense, but at most would pay 25% more, not over 2x.
Also thanks for recording at 60fps. It reallt shows how smooth and choppy in flight entertainment can be.

I’m 6’10 so every time I fly I try to get an exit row or bulkhead seat so nobody can recline into my knees. But the price can be very high sometimes. One of my United flights a ticket was $135 and it was $150 more to get a bulkhead on a CRJ 200 and a emergency exit on an A319 but a few weeks later I was booked on a last minute AA flight on a 737-800 and had to sit in normal economy and I couldn’t even get my legs behind the seat in front of me.

Comfort (Delta, Main Cabin Extra (American, and Economy Plus (United) are not Premium Economy seats. They are economy seats with extra legroom. I know of no airline that offers Premium Economy on single aisle narrow body planes. True Premium Economy is offered by most airlines on their wide bodies. In addition to more legroom, they are also wider. First Class seats on domestic narrow bodies are similar to Premium Economy.

I think United has the best, most efficient way to board. The plane should be loaded from the back, window first. That way everyone doesn’t have to stop and stand waiting for the people in front to load the overhead bins then put their crotch or butt in the isle sitter’s face. Consult any middle school administrator and they could sort out the airlines’ boarding issues in one flight.

If you have status on American, you can pick main cabin plus for free (the day you can pick a seat is determined by your status. There has been a few times I bought an economy ticket, checked in and picked an main cabin extra seat, and then got upgraded to first at the gate. I think on Delta, it's considered an upgrade. So you have to hope the system works. Not sure about United.

I had a layover in Denver flying United yesterday, and the gate across from mine was a flight going to Greensboro. I kept my eyes open for a Jeb sighting to no avail! I had a 737-800 with one of United’s new IFE screens earlier in the week and it was basically inoperable for watching anything. Even the safety video for my screen and everyone around me was glitchy.

I like these comparison videos; thank you. I believe US domestic premium economy should reflect the airlines international premium economy cabin, even on narrow bodies. i. e. 2-2 seating, complimentary drinks etc.
SAS operate a 3 class A321 on transatlantic flights, going from something like that to what is offered domestically is a big culture shock!

For long international routes, it is a very valid offering. Most airlines include exclusive toilets for the premium economy that you only share with about 20 passengers. The better food, seat and priority boarding is also great. Now for local domestic flights, unless it is over 3 hours long I would save it to buy food wifi on board lol.

When I flew Delta Comfort from STL to MSP, it was only $10 more each way, well worth the upgrade for more space. However, the crew never offered me premium drinks, either on the way up to MSP or on the way home. Maybe it's because it was only a 45-minute flight. That was a letdown. But I'd fly it again, especially for the price.

For me Delta comfort economy is well worth it. I do it because I fly with camera gear and they can't check my carry-on (under the seat and 1 overhead. On the last 2 flights I did not have comfort seats (before I started using it for my last 3 flights) they check my carry-on because the plane was full anything with wheels was checked.

The most frustrating part of flying is when you have a tight connection and you are in the back of the plane. By far, the biggest perk of flying in Premium Economy is that it is right behind First Class which gets you off of the plane much faster than in Economy and gives you a much better chance of making your connection.

Delta Comfort is not Premium Economy btw. We flew Delta from LAX to SYD in Dec 2022. Comfort was $1400 each, RT. We paid $2500 each for Premium Economy. In 2024, those same P. E. seats to SYD are $3500! That's what happens when the Pilots get a 45% raise in 3 years, as well as all the other issues with inflation.

Premium economy from my experience with United was just seats with slightly more legroom and towards the front of economy class. It is just economy with extra legroom. Is it really worth it Only if you are on the taller side and want the slight extra leg room or want to wait a bit less to leave the airplane.
