Qantas Full Flight: Sydney to Auckland (Boeing 737-800) Richard: I retired about 15 years before these videos were even thought of. My work required a lot of flying as as passenger on airlines. I havent flown cattle class since 1968, outward on a 707, back on an Electra turboprop. Not too bad a) I was a teenager. b) the aeroplane wasnt full. I have Ppl, so if am not interested in window seats, and the worst part of the flight is the airport itself - I always flew business or Club Clas or better. I had club. lounge membership for B. A. & QUANTAS. I mention all this, because Sydney International is the most appalling airport I have ever visited. For some absurd reason, it has been plonked in a sort of remote part of the airport, so whatever class yo have bought, if you need to transfer, that ridiculous bus journey is part of the experience. To add further insult, there will be a delay. You will be corralled with all the other passengers (including screaming babies and un controlled children, lots of obese people and no where to escape to. Then Presto! Back into the aeroplane with decent seats etc. BUT no drinks - it might be be only breakfast time for Australians, but It certainly Iisnt for me.

Greetings from Toronto Canada. Several years ago I was on a fully loaded Qantas 747 flight from LAX to AUK and the flight was diverted to Fiji due to bad weather in New Zealand. We later took off from Fiji heading to Auckland and we were diverted a second time but this time to SYD due to bad weather once again in Auckland. I was on that plane for 22 hours between getting on in Los Angeles and getting off in Sydney since we werent allowed to deplane in Fiji since they werent expecting us. Im just a poor schmuck who always travels economy but I was fortunate to have been upgraded to first class so I really didnt want to get off. I got to Auckland the next day. A truly memorable flight.

Looks like you encountered some pretty rough turbulence on this Flight. One of the main reasons I use to hate Flying, but when I started flying Weekly from London to Dublin and back every week I learnt to get over it and am now pretty easy going with it. None the less another great Vid, look forward to seeing more: )

Ive spent years working around the world, mostly in SE Asia which is smack bang in the ITCZ. Hundred of flights and the AKL-SYD is the one Ive always had the worst turbulence in. Maybe because of the prevalence of lots of cumulus clouds, or the sudden landmass appearing after long distances of ocean

Im a huge aviation lover but I also have agoraphobia (especially about travelling. So being on a plane gives me mixed feelings on the extremes, it feels weird hahaha
But yeah, Qantas does make me feel better and I couldnt be on a more comfortable airline. Best airline in the world

I think Emirates stopped Australia-New Zealand 5th Freedom flights largely due to the success of their nonstop Dubai-Auckland A380 flights. Although Qantas still codeshare the current flights to Australia. Auckland gets a second daily Emirates flight which makes a stop in Bali.

Mascot airport has certainly grown from when we lived in Sydney. You just walked from international into Domestic in a few minutes.
Interesting watching the vlog. Thank you Noel. I have done the flight into Auckland from Melbourne several times.

Hi Noel I have watched your videos for years and found this one Id never seen. Upon watching it you cant believe my surprise when I noticed that you had filmed my cousin sitting in front of you with the blonde hair. Small world for sure lol.

I did this same trip in 1986, Air New Zealand, then onto LAX, with two preschoolers! Looking forward to Disneyland so they were well behaved!
No individual entertainment then, just one movie shown at the front on a large screen.

id say you were tired noel after all this traveling. sorry for late response. im now in collage and i listen to the white noise when i am studying for assignments. il start on your latest video when i get a chance

Awesome video! Welcome to Auckland! I'm a little curious seeing as we have strict passenger aircraft laws in NZ. Is your camera mounted to the window or using a flexible tripod attached to the armrest? Also liked and subbed!
reply

Thank you for this vid. My son and i are about to take a short holiday to New Zealand. It's been a few years since we last went from Melbourne to NZ so I was slightly nervous. This helped me relax a bit: )
reply

If they used a Dreamliner the turbulence wouldn't have been as bad for the unfortunate travellers.
Plenty of nervous travellers as the angst can be seen by the expression on the young lady's face.

Flights like these always make me sweat. I've flown from sydney to auckland 11 times and still I can't get over the little amounts of turbulence. I can't even handle being in the air for 3 hours.
reply

Woo. next month I will take the same trip in the reverse direction. I will try to film the whole three hours. Thanks for your hard work. Do you have a device to fix your camera to the window?
reply

Far too many shops in the Airports.
I don't know anyone who buys a flight just to go shopping in a departure lounge?
Would rather get checked in and be ready to board my flight.

25: 41 Is it just me or does the sound like it's running backwards? I'm listening this video through my headphones and after those beeps, I swore the sounds are running backwards
reply

I think you should use air New Zealand business class and premium economy. Do a review on them as you seem to have used all the other airlines.

I just want to co e here today i havent seen my family in auckland from sydney for 6 years and were going back in 18 sep of this year cant wait!

This was an old Jetconnect flight before they shut down in 2020. Their fleet was transferred to Qantas' main brand and ZK-ZQD was rr'd VH-VZI
