WHY IS THIS CAR PARK FULL OF BOEING 737s?

In the 70's as an ATC Cadet in West London we used to get Opportunity Flights with BOAC and BEA the were arranged by the TV personality Hughie Green (An ex WW2 pilot) he used to have a talent show called Opportunity Knocks, hence Opportunity Flights.
Basically at sort notice, usually the night before you could be told to present yourself, in uniform, to BOAC or BEA engineering at Hatton Cross at about 06: 00 to be taken on a training flight. No extensive use of simulators then. I got flights in VC10, B707, B747, Trident and BAC 111. The flights would usually go to either RAF St Mawgan (Now Newquay Airport) or RAE Bedford for circuits with at least 3 flight deck crews training. We'd get cockpit visits and on one occasion I got to sit in the co-pilot's seat of a B707 and have 20 minutes at the controls with the auto pilot off. So I've got a bit of a soft spot for the B707.

Seeing those MAXs parked up, reminds me of a photograph I have in one of my aviation books from the 70s: Its a stunning photo of the first ten DC 10s parked up at Long Beach, prepped and waiting to be delivered to the customer: 6 of them had crashes or serious incidents that destroyed the aircraft.
I was wondering how many people currently walking around Africa, South America or Asia, and those yet to be born, will die on those planes currently parked there, in 17 - 20 years time? You know, when that tired tin is sold on from hard duty in USA & Europe, to be flown by pilots currently in school and where maintenance is 'Freestyle' shall we say.
But hey: they won't be Americans or Europeans, right, so, who cares if the plane has serious fundamental flaws. cue ABBA; money money money.

4: 25 you can see my highschool off to the right in this shot, and the student parking (also museum overflow parking) at the back of the shot, if you look really closely you can pick out my car at one point. I also saw my neighbors car in this video (he worked at the BFI tower. The 9Air plane at 11: 10 is the only one of the planes on that side of E Marginal left, and it's in a sad state at this point, but the other lot is still full (and the displaced cars are still parking in the empty lot behind my school and the museum)

I used to live on Whidbey Island off of Everett and we drove by Boeing every time we went to Seattle. We often got to see brand new aircraft and those ginormous doors open to see them putting them together. It was sad to see it go away. All the people who lost their jobs. I feel like the time we lived there, (late 70s through the 80s) was a magical time. Seattle wasnt run over by homeless people everywhere, a person could walk through Pike Place market with no graffiti everywhere you look, it was a fun place to live

I used to drive by SFO regularly, 51 years ago. A 747 was parked near Bayshore Freeway for the public to see whilst driving past. My first thought was that it was too big to ever get airborne. I never flew aboard one. I usually flew in 727s and 737s. The US government leased old 707s to take us soldiers to Vietnam. Ragged old wrecks even then. I came home in a shiny Flying Tiger plane.

You say it's sad to see so many brand new 737-MAX parked up, ready for delivery.
But I guess it's all just the knock-on effect of the grounding of this type of aircraft and the investigation into it and behind the scenes at Boeing.
It's now 2022, the 737-MAX has been given FAA clearance to fly again but I doubt very much that Boeing will ever be the same again.

How can you start this video by walking past a Super Constellation, the most beautiful aircraft ever in the world, and then not mention it in the programme? I flew on one with Qantas from the Far East (Malaya or Singapore I cannot remember) to UK in 1956. Lew Hoad was on board and signed an autograph for me. Two days with an overnight stop in Karachi.

Your videos are really interesting, but you really should film yourself less, the selfie view really isn't very interesting, why do you film yourself talking about something with you in the front and the thing you are talking about in the back, I much rather would have a better view of the thing you are talking about. :-)

When I was in the military I was passing through (classified) air base and got to see a Blackbird (from a distance) take off on a mission. As soon as it lifted off the thing went nearly vertical and all you could see was the blue exhaust flame. then it disappeared. That was a sight to behold.

I wish it had been that quiet when I was there 3 years ago. I was blown away by the 747, it felt huuuge. I also loved seeing the history of Boeing. Another very interesting quirky thing to see in Seattle is the Hat n Boots former gas station that was restored and put in a small public park.

This is almost my dream holiday - which is to see this museum plus do the Boeing Factory Tour. I hope that it will still be possible for me to do that before I die. Favourite plane here: Concorde followed by the old Air Force One. Thanks for uploading this video

I got to fly on some 707s in the 60s. One rarity was a Rolls-Royce powered 707-420 we rode from Rio de Janeiro to NY JFK in 1969. Rode on lots of 727s in the 80s too. Flying was fun back then, but the jets were noisy & smoky for people on the ground.

Fun fact. That gate thats by the military flight center is an active crossing. Sometimes you can see all sorts of air planes going to storage or being sent to the flight line.
Also I went to the Aviation high school next door. 2008 inaugural class.

Duxford air museum is always worth visiting too. They have a Blackbird in the American Aircraft Hanger as well as a prototype Concorde, Vulcan Bomber, Lancaster bomber and a whole host of other amazing aircraft. Definately loads to see for a day out.

Verry nice, would love to visit. Only been to the USS Intrepid in NYC. There's also a small show in Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn or the Ulster Aviation Society in Lisburn Northern Ireland right beside the Air Ambulance station.

That is a great museum. I loved it. I got to see Kennedy's Air Force One. Reagan's Air Force One is in Simi Valley, and is pretty cool as well. The Concorde is damn cool, although 3 hours on that thing would be awful.

I know where you should go to and that is the Delta Flight Museum in Atlanta when the virus ends but it is a another great Aviation Museum I haven't been there but it will be on my bucket list of places to go

If that mock-up section is yours I would suggest getting some monitors to put behind the windows and have a PC or something play vid that you've recorded of out the window views on your trips

Too jerky videos. You should make much smoother videos. Get a nice gimble or list pocket gimble yo make things smoother. On a big scream those videos cause headache.
