Is This Really Britain's Best Sleeper Train? MrMecabih: when you said the prices i was left stunned. No wonder why trains from to Cornwall and Devon are carrying air most of the time. Just checked a train from Torquay to Paddington in next week. 146 pounds! Taxi is cheaper! :O Flybe used to fly from Exeter to London City for 39quid. They are killing this form of transportation winding their price up like crazy! Absolutely nobody here chosing train over car to travel from Torquay to the North or London. Advance fare to Manchester from Newton Abbot is 170 quid. It is cheaper to fly from Exeter to Malta and catch flight from there to Manchester than using a train!

My wife and I travelled to London from Cornwall on the sleeper for our honeymoon, this was during the hot summer in 1976 and she unlocked every lock and opened every door in the cabin having a good look around.
We finally got to bed and got on with honeymoon stuff when we could hear a clicking sound, then suddenly the wall opened up and 2 guys in the next cabin stepped in, stopped and backed out so quickly that they shut our jackets in the wall.
I had to knock on the cabin door to get them to re open the wall and rescue the coats.

Back in the 90's I traveled the overnight from Amsterdam Central ST to Paris Garde du Nord nearly sure, a few times, first and only time I used sleeper car witch means your stuck their for 12hrs or so, yah with a load of hippy dippy rich boys and girls living on other ppls stories yah man, far out, how I didn't nut one of I don't know, wreckon BC their was women present so I held it, so go on main train you always get a carriage to yourself, stretch out on seats, shoes off, the conductors say nothing

Perhaps you didn't know that GWR stands for Great Western Railway, but maybe you could've done a bit more research before embarking on your journey, as it's one of the oldest (if not the oldest) and most famous railway companies in the world, and not knowing that makes you sound like you don't really know what you're talking about, which isn't great for someone making travel vlogs.

I don't understand why you do theses videos. You moan a lot about the leg room on planes. Trains that are late to small etc etc. You have got a very easy job noel which obviously pays you a lot an is a injoyble experience. Remember there is a lot people who have to work damm hard an not be able to do what you do. So you are very privileged my friend.

As opposed to the Spirit of the Outback that I rode over new year's 2022, Brisbane to Longreach that felt like I was trying to sleep through a 8 hour fairground ride. EDIT: Our twin sleeper was $850 for two and return! Not bad for a total of 52 hours on a train Haha. All meals included and were restaurant quality.

I have always loved trains, especially steam trains with the compartments, but I would feel disappointed having to sleep for most of a train journey. My grandfather was a boilermaker on the railways and my son, his great grandfather's namesake, is an engineer and team leader with the railways.

Boy, that sure is a modern train. I thought it had some good lights, in the ceiling. Also, I think its really good that the room has a little counter spot, where the sink is located, so you can put stuff aside, like a CPAP at night, & you could eat some breakfast or something.

I am a little surprised that 'Passport Control' did not rouse you from your slumberr, as you crossed the 'River Tamar' [ exiting Devon ], into the Celtic-stronghold of 'The Brythonic Kingdom of Cornwall. #CelticBritons #Brittonic

I love the videos. - I think its time to do more in town touristy to-do videos.
Im aware that lots of other people do them - but I think yours would offer a lot. - Your sensibilities and perspective are unique and awesome.

I enjoyed this as I'm travelling to Penzance next month using a rail rover ticket, and going via London and the sleeper is definately an option compared with the cramped Cross Country trains we have to endure. Thanks.

im not watching the video, i assume you're on the south coast one, its probably is but sleeper trains in the uk are absolutely shocking. never travel by sleeper in the uk, its just awful.

Not like the BR old sleeper trains that went to Scotland the bloody communist drivers used to do there best to shunt you to death. I REALLY hope the DVLA gets sold off next.

My girlfriend and I found the lower bunk on the Night Riviera very comfortable. More mile a minute club than mile high club! The perfect way to arrive into Cornwall?
