Would You Fly to ALABAMA'S LEAST USED AIRPORT? Lisa: I'm sorry. I laughed all the way through this vlog. My family is from one of the other of the Tri-Cities. I actually lived the most miserable 4 months of my life in Muscle Shoals when I was nine years old; a few blocks from the old Fame Studio. As my family has been in that area since the early 1800's, I'm probably related to most of the people you met there. When you said you were going to stay and check out the city, my sister said He'll regret that. and we howled when you checked into the Red Roof Inn. We were relieved when you chose to go to Florence instead of Huntsville. Very good choice. Actually, there are a lot of interesting things in the area that you missed. Tuscumbia was the home of Helen Keller. The Sheffield downtown area has been restored and has some nice bars and restaurants. Spring park is a great family area. And there are some great recreational areas along the Tennessee River. But you probably had the best BBQ when you went to Ricks.

When I was younger, my sister and I used to take small planes out of Plattsburgh, NY. The Clinton County Airport on Continental Airlines. They would fly a 12 seat plane, I can't remember which model it was, but it was very similar to these. Pre TSA and pre extra security. It was very very surreal and serene going to Albany NY to catch flights elsewhere. Now Plattsburgh has a larger airport, but it was so nice having the ease of the smaller flights with the college kids flying from New York City, Albany or Syracuse, NY. Most of the time now, we either drive to Albany, NY or Burlington, VT.

The bit exploring Muscle Shoals reminded me mostly of American Gods by Neil Gaiman. Honestly, the lights not working in the room are fairly typical of American households and hotels. I've gotten used to the wall light switches running the little lights around the rooms. It's not like the UK or Australia, where it would be used to run a main light fixture, but actually turn on the little lights around the room. The lights generally need to be plugged into the top socket around the room to make that happen, but once you're used to it, it's not a big deal.

Been trying to leave this state for years and maybe move down to Florida and around Pensacola. Ive worked in Birmingham and been out to the airport a number of times - you see a lot of slums if you drive from there into downtown Bham hhhhh. Ive also worked some in the Muscle Shoals/Florence area. I now live about an hour's drive north of Birmingham But hope you enjoyed yourself here - its all about barbecue and football hhhhhh oh and big jacked up trucks flying an assortment of flags hhhhhh.

This is great! But that plane you flew in looked so small! Glad you made the trip safetly though. I throughly enjoyed your video. That is crazy that your flight was canceled and you had to take a vehicle to Birmingham, AL! Your reaction to the radio talk LOL! -you are listening to Sean Hannity! LOL! Sometimes I like him; sometimes I don't! He does speak facts but alot of times he drills things into the ground.

There was a mess during the Super tornado Outbreak of 2011 that killed 250 IN aLABAMA ALONE. PLANES WERE BEING DEVERTED EVERYWEHER A S The tops of those tornados was going had tops 60 Thousand feet high! unlike 1977 when tornados and Ice caused the of a muscle Shoals to Atlanta flight to crash and and killed 70 people trying to land on a highway in Georgia.

Also, if you're ever in the DIA or COS area again, please come say hi. I live down in Colorado Springs, and I'd be happy to show you the sights. Ex-pat Aussie, so please bring a pasty or a pork pie. My folks are from t'north of the UK, but I am not into blood pudding or warm beer.

Noel, it would have been cheaper by Uber! Just looked it up, and even with inflation and today's gas prices it's 230 bucks from Muscle Shoals to Birmingham airport. Then again, you wouldn't have had quite the same adventure driving in Alabama, so glad you enjoyed it: )

My part of the world!
lived in or near Muscle Shoals (The Hit Recording Capitol of The World) for half of my life (so far)
Even familiar with Rick's Bar-B-Q
(at that same table)
The Shoals is a Great Place.
Apologies offered for Your Poor Time there.

I was going to say, What a waste of money. that nice / large of an airport for so few passengers. Until I read up that it's a combined FBO/commercial terminal with 50, 000 flight operations a year. The 6, 000 passengers doesn't include all of the GA flights.

Love your videos. Im from Alabama, not far away from The Shoals I stopped the video at 17: 49 to say one thing Alabama is well known for the best barbecue, not decent barbecue! Welcome to sweet home Alabama! Hope you got some of that southern hospitality

I stumbled upon your videos a few nights ago. I very much enjoy seeing all your travels across the world so imagine my surprise to see you in the place I'm from. I did scream no! At my TV when you stayed at the Red Roof Inn.

The Royal Flying Service which provides health care and emergency services to folks living or travelling in the Australian outback use Pilatus planes as does at least one state law enforcement agency.

Montana airports. BIL, BZN, BTE. beautiful scenery, country-ish. and it would also give you an opportunity to review Alaska's subsidiary, Horizon. They're the last) U. S. airlines operating Q400's.

You spent $400 on the one-way Hertz rental? I wonder if it would have been cheaper to get that one guy's car out of the impound--you'd be a good Samaritan and also save some money

Great clips Noel but you have repeated your destination too many times. We know you are in Muscle Shoals. Is it necessary to repeat it every second sentence?

Have you tried Texas BBQ? Consider coming to Austin, TX. have a juicy, tasty Rudys BBQ or Franklins BBQ. Youll be amazed how delicious it is.

This might be one of my favourite vlogs of yours Noel, getting off the beaten path and finding yourself in places we'd never see.

I grew up in the Deep South. Ive spent most of my life trying to avoid the gulf coast and Alabama. A festival of bigotry and hatred.
