Love these smaller airlines! I grew up on the NW of Ireland and remember smaller airlines like this being more common before under-funding and lack of financial viability hit them. Such a shame! Great to see Island hopper airlines surviving and thriving in the UK. That rotation on takeoff was one of the quickest I've ever seen, no doubt you all felt that! All in all, a nippy little aircraft! Fair play to the airline and the pilots. Hope they go strong!

Great little plane, built like a little tank. Flew on one in the Caribbean years ago and it's still there! Hope they keep building them for years to come. One question regarding the Islander, why do they use 2 blade props? Wouldn't a 3 or even 4 be better? Are you qualified on this plane Noel? It looks real easy to fly.

Many years ago. i was so young i didnt realize
My family went to cozumel
The plane we rode to hop to the island was a trilander
Its unique look stuck with me
It started my love of aviation i believe.
I found info on it online years ago. it was one of the first thingd i ever bookmarked

I wish young pilots could be arsed to remove the hi-viz vest before getting into the cockpit. It makes them look like a pig-rooter who didn't go to school. Can't be reassuring for the passengers. Wearing hi-viz over top of a white shirt with epaulettes qualifies you for extra wanker-points.

The Connemara -> three Arran Islands flights on 40 year old Islanders could be worth a video - its not always scheduled as such but getting all three islands on a milk run is possible. Being Passenger #9 - beside the pilot - is an experience, albeit not sure if that's still allowed!

Thankyou Noel for this video and I do hope you visit my old home of Alderney soon on the Islander where people take a car or bus to go to the next town, this was the only way to leave Alderney, so I have been no many a Islander and yes they are fun in cross winds but love them

As a wee lad living in Guernsey in the 70's, I took a Tri-lander to Birmingham with my Mum! She sat in the right seat next to the pilot, and I remember he offered her a cigarette, she said yes, and it popped out of the instrument dashboard!

Love this video. Flown in Islanders many times back in the early eighties. Took off more times than we landed as it was the often go to sky-diving bus in the UK. Fantastic aircraft and looks good from underneath as you are falling away!

For everyone mentioning the Trislanders did you know the most famous one G-JOEY now hangs in a soft play centre on Guernsey. Its fantastically incongruous, but at least it got to stay on its homeland

Looks like a fun flight. Never flown on an Islander but flown many times on a Twin Otter which I'm guessing would be the Canadian eqivelent and your right they can land almost anywhere. Great video

I remember as a teenager flying Jersey European Airways from Shoreham in a Twin Otter to Jersey and onto Dinard in France. Sincerely hope that this Airline gets the grren light for Shreham!

I just checked and noticed that Noel hasn't been to North Pole Alaska yet. It is Christmas year round there. That would be a good place to visit.
