My AWFUL Flight on Air India's Filthy Boeing 787
video description
Chicago to New Delhi
Not totally the fault of the flight attended but 3 hours before we landed, while I was almost asleep. The child setting next to me dropped his full soda in my lap and it soaked my seat, I was provided a small hand towel to set on after changing into my gym shorts I had packed. But not before the child got a full refill! They brought a child soda before and attention was given to me! This next part is hard to believe but the child, stomach now filled with sugar on decent throws up directly in front of him as vomit splashs on my bare feet as I had switched to flip-flops when I had changed clothes earlier in the flight. I ended up being fairly vocal to the father of the demon spawn and only then, 10 minutes before we land am I moved to a new seat THAT WAS AVALIABLE THE ENTIRE FLIGHT with a WORKING in flight entertainment, a dry seat and no child next to me.
So, there I am, first time in India. My feet have a strangers vomit on them my pants, sticky with soda, no sleep on the flight, stomach upset from the quality of food and I'll be damned. My bags were nowhere to be found. I relied very little on Air India to give me any help, my complaints fell on def ears, I was able to get a refund for my return flight and took Qatar. Insure helped with my luggage and I never saw my suitcase again.
Thanks Air India.

My first Air India experience also started out of Delhi. I can only say that I would never ever schedule a long stopover in Delhi or on Air India ever ever again as a solo woman traveller. Even if transiting, you're required to go outside of the airport and come back in again - cue being accosted by taxi drivers nonstop like in your video. Then if you have an overnight/red eye flight, the airport is covered in male passengers randomly sleeping on the ground in every corner and direction around the gates. It just felt wildly strange and unsafe and I could not rest for one moment in such an environment. All of the women began to cluster or group together for safety in a very well lit area. And then I got onto my plane. It was not better. It was the most run-down plane I had ever been in. However, I did get to sit next to some female indian engineers on the plane and they were very cool.

As an Indian unfortunately I had the same experience in 2020 when I was struggling to visit my ma who was in ICU. Terrible experience and then got stuck for 4 months because of the pandemic. I tried to connect with them by email, phone, but no one helped. Then I paid a hand and foot to buy a ticket from Vande Bharat flight. Another horrible experience. Air India never returned the $400. 00 from the previous two way flight I had paid for. Where as, other air lines returned the money to a few friends who were also traveling. Air India never responded to my emails.
My hard earned money, they just stole it from me.
I don't think I will ever support and buy another Air India ticket again.

I remember trying to get an Air India flight out of paris. I was waiting inside of one of their planes and the tv screen actually came out of it's housing in front of me. The wires were showing in the back of it. I pushed it back where it was in amazement. After about waiting for an hour inside of the plane, we got a message saying that we need to get off the plane because of a technical problem. As it was very late, I we were all put inside of a hotel near the airport. Never again!

I always clean everything I can possibly come into contact with when I am flying. I carry sanitizing wipes (the travel packages of anti bacterial wet wipes) Tray tables, arm rest, call buttons. I open the bathroom door handle with a wipe. I do not touch anything with my hand unless it has a wipe in it. I turn on the faucet with a wipe.
Planes are filthy, full of yucky stuff we can see and not see. If public transport is involved I am playing it safer than sorry.

Hi! I am an Indian by birth. Currently living in London for the past 4 years. Recently used Air India to go from Gatwick to Kochi. It was so terrible. I flew in economy. The food was shit. I thought the staff really tried their best, but not my best experience. Being a tall guy and the seat having no leg room and the flight being 11 hours long, it was just a overall horrible experience for me too. Will not fly Air India again for sure.

I tried to go there but my luggage got mixed up with a case of diet coke and I hurried back to catcha cab before the flight when I had a ticket I had to get a ticket and only had a cart and baggage so I took the next flight luckily because the flight I wanted to take was delayed to the time of the next flight which is the flight I took. Parking was easy but my car was stolen when I got back from my trip.

I flew first class from LHR to DEL a while back and have decided never to fly the airline again. The menu was passable and that was the highlight of the flight. service, cleanliness and facilities are just atrocious. I hope it gets better with it reverting to private ownership under TATAs. I personally prefer Emirates from LON to India. with Qatar a close second.

My roots are indian, tho i was born and have lived in the netherlands all my life. It has been a dream to visit India, yet I'm also not looking forward to it. The contrast is grand. going from its dirty, i hate it, never going back to what a rich culture, its great. My heart is telling me to go to really see where my roots lie, but. im apprehensive as well.

No service after paying for a Business Class seat? Everything was just so basic & also not working. Scowling stewards & hostesses? Dirty toilets? Dodgy usb ports not working? Fraying cables? Dodgy & too spicy food given? Air India - Don't call us, we'll call you!

The view was phenomenal so why would they darken all the windows instead of just letting each person decide?
I did get a laugh as the video went along and at least you could laugh.
I mean it seemed as time went on the worse the experience became.

I flew in a plane like this from Scotland to/back to London. I was only 14 and I was praying just to get home safely. It didnt help that our taxi driver was falling asleep while driving to the damn airport. It was a nightmare. Glad you got home ok.

Had a Delta flight attendant friend that worked US-Germany flights. His plane in Germany back to the US had generally just come from India and the lav floors were flooded with urine. Disgusting.

Pride is not something that is valued in India! So much for the clean, luxury, safe, professional looking environment. Japan however is the complete opposite mentality!
