Confusing, Chaotic and EXHAUSTING! Low Cost Flying in Vietnam Michael: as i havent been to Viet Nam in over 15 years, tell me this: does anyone still refer to HCMC as Saigon, or just parts of that now thriving metropolis? fond memories of the city back in the day while traveling, transiting and soaking in the lovely, friendly vibes. it seems first-world issues have come to VN now! too bad. i think i was very lucky to do my VN explorations when the country was still under-developed and exotic compared to the mini-economic powerhouse it has become. alas, another lost paradise (see anthony bourdain's myriad accounts acclaiming his love of the country)

Great video. Pacific Airlines A320 was a former Jetstar livery. No food or drink on the short flight? So, I am looking forward to flying on Vietnam Airlines from Singapore to Saigon on A321 and to Bangkok on either A350 or B787 in two months. I was last flown on VN was on the summer of 2001 from HKG to Hanoi on A321 and Hanoi to Saigon on B767-300ER. I visited both places in 2001.

My last flight from Vietnam was Hanoi to Vientiane, Laos on a Lao Airlines A320 that was originally to be delivered to Air Afriqiyah who selected BRIGHT GREEN seats brand new. Lao got a good deal on the pair of jets, no need to change the seats and thankfully they have a touch of green in their logo. You MUST visit Laos in this part of the world. Maybe that's after Singapore!

Noel as always a fun vlog
I loved Danang when I was there
Vietnam airlines is good except for the French pilots who thing they are all still, flying fighter craft
To bad you didnt get time in Saigon ( no one but gov officials call it Ho Chi min city )
Noel im surprised you didnt leave more time for connections

This looks a lot like my Easyjet flight from London Gatwick to Amsterdam. Except that on Easyjet I had to get my luggage tags at a kiosk, then stick them on my luggage myself, then find the conveyor belt to put my luggage. I also had to check my carry-on bag. No free soda on Easyjet like here. No reclining seats either.

Booking a low cost airline to connect to a different one and not leaving ample connecting time is a rookie mistake no one should ever make. Penny PinchAir isn't going to care that you might miss your next flight and they won't pay the money to sign your ticket over to a different carrier.

I flew from Bangkok back to Newcastle on Friday with emirates, connection In Dubai and was saying to my fella, I wish I could bump into one of my you tubers like Noel while im at the airport!
I kept an eye out just in case
Ps. Im a very nervous flyer, I watch your videos to help the anxiety

I bet it was a close one, I've waited over an hour at luggage reclaim in Saigon before
And business class with VN airlines is poor, the food quality is low, and they serve the cheapest wine/spirits and beers, it's pretty disappointing and nowhere near business class on Singapore airlines.

Vietnam is nutty. Full of mopeds carrying weird and wonderful stuff. Seen live chickens trussed up by their legs and an upside down table with 6 chairs on the back. No safety concerns at all.
Went to an all you could eat buffet here but they only supplied you with one chopstick.

I can only afford low- cost flying, so I don't fly at all as I find it so uncomfortable, dispiriting and just downright unpleasant. My upcoming trip from northern Italy to the UK will be by means of my elderly Fiat Panda. At least I don't get ripped off for the luggage.

I'm only 40something but never thought I'd hear Da Nang and beautiful resort in the same sentence in my lifetime. Then again I never thought I'd see a sitting IS President go to VietNam for a peace summit.
Congratulations to the people of VietNam on your comeback!

You are obviously a very optimistic traveller if you thought that a two and a half hour connection to an international flight in HCM City was ideal.
I spent a night there before flying back to Australia in August after flying down from Hanoi on Vietnam airlines.

Flying out of my local home Airport. hope you enjoyed beautiful Danang, best city in SE Asia. PS that was an expensive cheap flight. I normally fly to Saigon or Hanoi for around 700, 000 to 1, 200, 000 VND. on Vietnam airlines. ( $35-50 USD)

Yes, airports in Vietnam tend to do this with the boarding gates. I sense that this confusion is a risk that one takes when flying low cost. I hope that your connection was a smooth one. Thank you for sharing this video!

Vietnam was the first international country i ever visited (im Australian) back in 2018. We didnt spend much time in Da Nang but now i wish we did! We were lucky enough to fly the Singapore A330 and A380 back to Sydney!

Pacific Airlines, for a period of time, was known as Jetstar Pacific as part of the Australian Brand, but now they are just Pacific Airlines again!
Well, that explains the identical cabin design.

I flew with Jetstar from Adelaide in South Australia some years ago. We had two changes of gates from the original assigned gate at the airport. Each one was about as far apart from the other as you could get!

I just recently flew Southwest Airlines from St. Louis to Los Angeles. Needless to say, it resembled your flight in this video. And it included a series of delays that led to us taking off four hours late.

Flew the route about 3 weeks ago on Vietjet just after the typhoon. Surprised to be sat in front of the curtain on a budget flight. Bamboo from SGN up to HAN on the 787 was a pleasant experience in Biz.
reply

6: 10 this aircraft looks like it was just operated by Jetstar Pacific which is the reason for the weird livery, Jetstar Pacific was Pacific Airline's predecessor as you already explained at 6: 40
