I went back to the Bushcraft Camp with my Dad and my Puppy Jaxx. Dad put together a pulley system with a tarp as a roof so that I can take the roof down if needs be. Worked a treat We also cook up some food on the fire pit and grill, as well as some Mulled Wine; ) Thanks to everyone who has subscribed to the channel, very much appreciated

Nice cover for your camp. Learn as much as you can from your dad, Mike; he's got his s#t together on improvising. Your question about bushcrafters vs survivalists in a SHTF and WORL scenario: proficiency in personal defense and group tactics would be ideal, and the survivalists and bushcrafters would likely work hand-in-hand to get by together. These folks are sharp and know that combining forces and the knowledge base would be ideal. Becoming nomadic would be the likely best choice for finding food, even if they encountered other groups, but desperation and need/want would dictate the lengths other groups would go to if they wanted what you had, and their own skill set in acquiring the resources you have. There's a movie called The Road with Viggo Mortenson, Charlize Theron and Robert Duvall that explores this possibility. I've never been to the UK but anything in the supermarkets, if no LE presence was about, would be quickly used up or taken. If firearms were in use they would rule the day until the ammo was expended and none was available to resupply, so edged weapons/bludgeons and those with the skill, ability and willingness to use them would be the masters. LIfe would regress to more medieval times and likely a more feudal way of life. Here in America it may disintegrate to the same level, but I see bands of desperate people (Zombie-like, if you will) preying on the weaker groups fewer in number. They'd pillage and move on. If a location looked too strong they'd move along. Cannibalism might become rampant with certain groups. This is touched on in the movie I mentioned earlier. Whatever happened, it would be brutal for about a year or so, and then things would sort themselves out for better or worse. The knife you have is, from what I've seen, called a brush hook knife. The weight and size gives it a bit of power. I saw it used in Game Of Thrones by the character known as The Hound. Rory MacGregor might be the actor's name. I'm not sure. Your dad, as usual, is great fun to watch. Bless his heart. Keep doing what yer doing. Take care and God bless.

the answer to your food is traps some steel some snares but the cheapest and most plentiful would be to make several windless traps for pigs or predators. Dave Canterbury does a video on these windlass traps. they are very dangerous to you and your dog but they are very cheap and effective. we are talking about a stick wound up in a skeen of rope or cordage until it is tight enough to do the job. it needs a prop stick under one end. Said prop stick is a two piece stick with a string and a bait bag tied so that when it is pulled the stick spins and hits the target animal around the neck or head. the stick that spins works best when it has a nail driven through it so as to kill the animal. a safety stick needs to be put between the two trees that said stick is wound between so as not to impale the user. Dave shows all this in his video. if you have wild pigs in your area they would give you enough calories to sustain yourself. it might be best to just farm raise these animals in a pit area instead. give feedback if possible. Love your British humor, cracks me up.

well i live in a huge city seattle wa. and i have had that same thought, so my wife the scot is teaching me medicinal and edible plant lore im a woodsman i hunt and fish and trap. she knows plant lore and bushcraft. we have figured that seattle would survive 6 months but we would be in the mountains with a select few who we know we can trust and have taught how to survive and thrive. i would say most citys would fall in to chaos with in 3-6 months those who make it to the wilderness would make it 2-3 years before they hae to venture back to the citys for supplies and things like tools and other items to extend the wilderness life.

IF there is no clean water available 2 weeks. Those that live in the countryside and shoot and fish and have knowlegde of wild plants edibles would have the best chance. So overall the most likely to survive would be gamekeepers, deer stalkers and their familes. Also framers that shoot and fish. They know how to shoot, fish and trap and have a knowlegde of the wild plants and what crops are growing on their patch of land, they usually also have some sort of livestock as well. They are also legal owners of various firearms and ammunition and they live in the countryside. Those of us trapped in an urban environment have had it.

Regular city folk wouldn't be able to survive long and would revert to looting and theft. I have the knowledge but I've never put it into practice for hunting, trapping, and processing food. I can fish and process my own fish and I can manage water. You still need those city folk to rebuild. So get yourself a reasonably intelligent person with no primitive living skills and they can help produce fuels, electricity, various other leisure items and you and another mate can do the grunt work and keep everyone alive. check out the show The Colony it's really quite interesting how they end up getting along.

Bush craft is nice for survival but basic hunting, tracking, foraging, fishing skills are key for survival. Learn to make a good fish trap, net, trot line. Also learning to make a survival bow from all natural materials is handy for small game. Pit fall traps are handy as well for some of the larger game. Also learning basic & advanced black smith techniques would put you a step above most other bush crafters. Learning to make a mold & being able to cast & create your own tools is invaluable in a survival situation where you have scrap but no way to really use it.

People call their survival bags bug out bags. What what are your thoughts and your dad's, about thinking more along the lines of bugging in. most people aren't exactly going to take their wives and families to the woods. You would have to have enough supplies to hunker down at home and be safe. Is this something you practice at all, stocking up supplies at home and being ready. Not to say or think something horrific is going to happen. Most people feel safe enough to think that's not a reality. But if something did happen would you and yours be prepared at home?

3 types. Survivalists (aggressive); bushcrafter (using traditional/primitive tech); and walking dead. You need to be able to gather people under you and manage them, but not make them want to kill you, but you need to be able to protect your group from the aggressives and yet absorb those who are good into your group. You need to be able to cultivate on a periodic cycle, hunt and trap in between times, and put it all by for the winter. Come to The Liberal Prepper on facebook for more

I love what you doing I watch all the videos of you and your dad. But one thing I notice that no bushcrafters survivalist or Preppers ever do in their videos especially if you return to an area regularly, is give back to the forest. Why not take random types of seeds and plant them. Like strawberries potatoes squash zucchini Etc maybe things that would grow back seasonally. For your use and for the animals Within. Who knows maybe I'm just rambling and this doesn't make any sense
