A few pointers. One if you're going to do a lot of bark stripping get or make a shave horse. Also when stripping bark don't start in the middle of the log if all you're doing is stripping the bark off the log, start at one of the cut ends, the largest diameter is the best. Place the drawknife at the lowest part of the bark and draw it back an inch or two, 2. 6 cm to 5 cm then angle the blade side into the log to lift the bark off the log, then reset the blade so it runs against the log and run it to when the bark is attached to the log and lift again, rinse and repeat. This will persevere as much of the log as possible. You can also angle the blade up if you don't want any extra kits in the log body. And when drilling the holes in the logs do a two point reference before drilling into the log. One person stands to the side and the other stands behind the log, normally the one holding the bit stands behind the log. Start the drill but as soon as it catches on the wood stop and make sure it is straight up and down from both directions to get a straight hole, this will allow you to make sure it's set right and if not back the bit out some so you don't bend the tip and adjust till straight in both directions and drill.

I skimmed through the list of gear. Just two remarks: Mora indeed make very good knives at reasonable prices. Another brand to look at is EKA. I've been carrying a Nordic W12 on a daily basis for almost 2 years, from the kitchen through the garden into the workshop and back. For those who, like myself, have big hands the handle makes a fit as if it were custom-made and by giving it a few strokes on the kitchen honing bar it hardly ever needs more sharpening. The sheath is very well made too. Of course I prefer leather, but these Kydex things with a clip clasp onto any trousers or shorts without the need of a belt. But then that goes for Mora too. Second: I'm a bit surprised that you chaps don't use a carpenter-type axe like those from Roselli in Finland. I've seen one used by a british sculptor for precision work, will try to find the video back as he shows just how to sharpen it to perfection. In either case, beware of prices, which vary vastly. Lamnia (in Finland as well) are usualy well placed on that score.

Southern fried chicken, make sure you add enough salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder, (some light brown sugar too) to your base. also use buttery cracker crumbs and bread crumbs in equal parts mixed with flour to make your breading for the chicken, make sure you process the breading into a semi fine dust, similar to espresso grounds with some coarse ground like french press grounds in it. perfect chicken breading for southern fried.

Well about vikings and cleanliness, vikongs where surprisingly cleanly about them selves, mostly washing before eating and bathing/washing every saturday, combing hair and beards and putting jewlery in them and taking care of themselves. so to that point that the english when the vikings came, thought of them as vain or even feminine because of how clean they were

Stuck inside from a nasty heat wave in VIrginia. Watching you build in silence in the cold is so refreshing and relaxing. Cant stop watching. As a chef I am also impressed with your campfire cookery. That calamari looked better than anything you get in a pub. The southern fried chicken looks mouthwatering. You Brits rock This is binge worthy video

Logs are ROUND. You have a saw & auger. Straight wood for an axle. Sapling for a tongue. Would it be too much to ask for you to invent ' the Wheel, a simple low 2 wheel cart & the leverage of a long tongue? Eventually children will be watching these, & wonder if the Cavemen, let alone Vikings, were lazy or brain damaged.

too bad I only now found the notice of these. but might suggest a comfortable slightly more period bed frame. called a rope bed, there are loads of great tutotals, they aren't hard to make and are really comfortable. plus, you can make a sort of camp version that can come apart and be moved about if you need more space
