BTW I used to work for the man who made those statues right around the time they were made. J. Seward Johnson Jr. owned and operated The Johnson Atelier where he and a crew of very interesting characters created those statues depicting real life moments in time. There are many different installations in and around Princeton, Trenton and the surrounding area. Mr. Johnson was an heir to the Johnson and Johnson fortune and I used to work for him and his family around his home and at the Johnson Atelier many years ago. He passed away in 2020 at 89 I believe. He moved the Atelier to the Hamilton area (near Trenton) and it’s now known as The Grounds for Sculpture which is a really cool place to visit.

Been watching yalls road trip for a long time since near the beginning of it and im impressed on how much that it has improved since the start. im happy for yall. it shows that with hard work you can still make a successful career in the United States. adding the numbers on statistics sink in a lot more when you can see them and pause them to read them. thanks for your hard work. tell Nocole that its refreshing to see a woman in her 50's that has kept herself in shape and is not a big ole blob of blubber like most women her age is.

Drove a tractor trailer in Trenton making deliveries and pick ups, and West Trenton for awhile, never had a problem, Stuyvesant Ave is kind of rough, in da hood, haha! You have to remember, it is pronounced Trenten by the locals, Trenton and Philly are very old cities, way before the West was around. When I was a kid in the '80s, I remember how excited I was to go downtown and how full of life it was.
I also remember being upset that we moved away from there at the age of 7.
I slowly but surely realized what a good move it was (even though I hated Bucks County) and now when I go there (I still have family there and I was last there about two months ago, I'm grateful that we got out.
So few do it seems.

Wow, just finished watching this video. So depressing! I would have thought Trenton would have been in much better shape. This makes me think, instead of offering aid in the form of welfare, as a nation, we should demand that folks be responsible into themselves. I have no mercy for gangbangers that are partially responsible for ruining these once great cities. You join a gang, the police have the right to shoot to kill, no questions asked.

Great video. I lived for a couple of years about 13 miles from Trenton. I must confess, I saw and sensed some papably stark differences between the two environments. Unfortunately, you never spoke with anyone on the streets in Trenton to add perspective to the video. Stats nor videos can put the perspective that engaging with two or three random individuals can provide. It's just a humble observation. Otherwise, great work!

It’s the state capital, but the state gives nothing back. It’s sad. There’s the Trenton Thunder sports, some good restaurants (Jamaican, BBQ, an active farmers market, the Punk Rock flea market. The problem is that everyone works there, or comes I to the city but leave when they finish. What’s really nuts is that Princeton is right done the road and a world away.

The internet says that statue with the info worn off is Trenton's 'Lady Victory' Monument. I've really enjoyed your New Jersey adventures. I've been to NJ a couple of times on business but saw little besides the hotels and had no idea it contained all the cool little towns that reflect a New England vibe, even though it's not one of the five New England states proper.

We go to nearby Philadelphia, Princeton, New Tork City, or Atlantic City for culture and entertainment. Trenton has very little to offer in comparison. There are a few outstanding restaurants in Trenton, and a good orchestra/theatre -- but otherwise, meh. We think of Trenton as the State House. a government seat. Growing up in NYC I thought the same of Albany.

It appears that the only reason the govt and 1% need us is for tax money. If you don’t meet their needs, a person is cast off, discarded. Thank you for this tour and commentary. I have lived in the area since the 70’s and your facts and summation of the situation is accurate. Trenton and people, It is Sad and in our country inexcusable.

I recall a quote from a President once who drove past Trenton at night and said it reminded him of the back of a Philco radio with the cover off. Not a lovely description. Guess it just got worse over time by the looks of it. You’re probably lucky you didn’t have an appointment to get in. Just more dirty politics going on in there most likely.

Wow. Never thought I'd see this place again. I traveled here often for work a few years back. Not the best area as the town is run down and the crowd can be sketchy. Great travel location though as you're in-between Philadelphia and NYC.

In all the years my husband and I have lived here in this beautiful state, we've only been inside Trenton twice. Both times we got lost trying to get out before dark. Had to flag down a police officer for directions. Both times were before cars with navigational systems.

I grew up in Trenton on Centre Street from 1986 to 1996. I remember it well and often have some fond memories of those times. Ive driven through there many times since and its still like what I remember, but the urban Blight has gotten worse.

I am from the UK, the architecture there is great. Such a shame that it is falling apart. I can't understand why that place is so bad, when towns not far away there is similar style architecture which is well looked after.

Crazy because it’s surrounded by wealth, Urban Jersey is a whole different vibe from Small towns, but you could go down 5 blocks be in a good neighborhood go down another 3 blocks and see crackheads and chicken spots

I grew up in Trenton. The flight of manufacturing to foreign shores caused the downward spiral. There were lots of good-paying union jobs in those factories. Corporate greed killed Trenton.
