William Wallace didnt fight the British, he fought the English. It was actually 400 years before the UK even formed (in 1707. British wasnt even an identity held by many Britons (Scottish, Welsh & English) until King James the 6th of Scotland (and first of England) took over the English thrown in 1606 and sealed the Union of Crowns and it didnt even become a popular term until long after the Act of Union in 1707. Glasgow was a huge industrial powerhouse during the Victorian era & British Imperial expansion. Fine scientists, engineers, merchants (not always the best kind, economists, admirals and soldiers. Weird to see Scotland become such a PC left wing speech law anti-British self-loathing mess in the last decade. I went from a Yes vote to a No vote based on the mental hysteria over on the pro-Independence side. They filled up with Irish Republicans and anti-West far-left goons. Hopefully, Scotland will just get back to being the politically incorrect tough & crazy part of the UK, instead of the left wing pro-Islam pro-IRA whinging part.

Please dont do a Scottish accent again I am Scottish and I dont get triggered by that but it is hog-ma-nay not hog-ma-nee also, why go to Scotland unless you are going to see the William Wallaces statue and many more sites, trust me, it rains ALL the time when there IS sun though it is usually still to damp to roll around on a grass hill or something fun like that ughhh I hated that, [WARNING] I am about to talk about a PRIMARY school for all Americans that is the school before high school ok so at my old primary school we used to have 2 giant hills that we ran up and down or if it wasnt damp grass we would roll down it plus we got a fence down the side of them so we got to see passing dogs a lot but when the smallest bit of rain touched a kids head the teachers ours there would make us sprint inside

Very poorly informed lads. Glasgow was the industrial hub of England Scotland never has been part of England. It's part of the United Kingdom (unfortunately still) with England, Wales, Northern Ireland, Gibraltar and other overseas territories but England is another seperate country in its own right. It would be like calling San Francisco the tourism capital of Texas. Or Niagra falls the most beautiful part of Alberta. Also as a man from Orkney, I can assure you that saying 'the Orkneys' or 'the Shetlands' is incorrect and considered offensive to Orcadians and Shetlanders alike. They are known simply as Orkney and Shetland, the Orkney Isles and the Shetland Isles of the Orkney Islands and the Shetland Islands. But don't worry I'll forgive you. You Mexicans all make these same mistakes.

I'm planning to travel Scotland this summer, I'm the only English speaker in rest of 3 others they don't speak at all. I'm kind of worrying security matter when we are in big cities. I used to live in US, I kind of know what outside of my country like, but I want to know if any specific place in Scotland is better staying out of.

I spent some time in Dumfries and loved every minute- the people were wonderful and the shops were a delight. Our B&B host drove us up to the mountains and pulled out some chocolate bars. The goats raced down the slope and clamored for that candy so pitifully that we had to go back for more. I would recommend Dumfries to anyone

Scotland isn't like that. You need to go to the poor council estates. I personally find Scotland rather overrated and a tad ugly even in the main cities. Horrible brown buildings and a tad overrated landscape. This is by no means the real Scotland. I've lived there for years and know the place is a dump.

A great place to go in Scotland is you don't have much time but still want to do loads of things is the island of Arran. It has mountains, valleys, festivals and even a few natural pools as well as campsites and even it's own distillery and crazy golf course

A bit late but you guys should search up the north coast 500 and the north east 250, they are road trip routes which take u around the highlands. I have lived in Scotland my whole life and until earlier this year I had no idea how beautiful the highlands were,
