Dixie, I am so pleased you do these videos even though I am almost a 60-year-old male I want to follow all your advice more so than others just because I like the way you communicate.
Having said that I would like to purchase your book but it's only on Kindle, correct? My issue with Kindle is I am dyslexic and I need it read to me and I can't figure out how to get the Kindle app on my iPhone to read it aloud. Do you have any other options to purchase your book? Or is there a way that I can get it to read to me.
I plan to start the trail in early 2022 so I have a few years to go but I'm exccited and wanting to plan way too much: -) your definitely pulling me back from doing too much planning for I do want this to be an experience not living to a schedule

I'm honestly confused about the bounce boxes, and sorry if this is a dumb question. Who carries your stuff from town to town? Do you just leave it in a certain place and random trail angels come along and take it with them the next time they travel north (or south I guess) and leave it for you? How secure is it? Do you mean that you can bounce the priority mail boxes forward only? Like you said your mom might send stuff but you already restocked and you can bounce forward at no charge? Or are bounce boxes like hiker boxes or something? Do you write anything on it for it to be bounced? How do you address it?
These are probably dumb questions, I'm just confused.

USPS has a secret. Priority Mail zone a, b, c special boxes, which can be used for different shorter ranges, CHEAP. You need to dig on their web site to find the rates and terms, and you must use the special boxes that are free, if you can find the order page, but never stocked in post offices. 800 mile range can cost you half the full price--if you find the secret web pages. USPS would rather have you pay full price.
Holding a parcel or letter for pickup is called hold for general delivery in the US. The rest of the world calls it post restante.

How are you supposed to figure out an ETA? There are SO MANY THINGS that can happen on the trail (injury, illness, pace, weather, etc) it seems like it would be impossible to estimate an ETA for a place that is 200 (or more) miles away.

How long will they hold a package? For example, if you're in Georgia and decide to bounce your cold weather gear to New Jersey, will they hold it until you get there (assuming your ETA is four months in the future?

So when do you send out these boxes? Does someone help you by sending them as you get close to a predetermined location?
How long does a post office keep a resupply box for?

You should really mention Regional Rate boxes! Weight is limited but the boxes is around 10 cheaper per box. The USPS provides the boxes free of charge though.

thanks for this. One of my biggest concerns was/is coordinating mail- drops when I just want to get out there and hike. I'll prolly send a few but not a torrent

TIL: Bounce Boxes! Wow what a concept. Now I have to investigate if we have that kind of service in Canada, because of the Trans Canada Trail. :D
