PCT Thru-Hike Episode 14! Dixie deals with abnormally cold weather and strong wind as she pushes through a dry stretch in the Mojave Desert, less than 100 miles from the Sierra

I hiked the Muir trail, over 200 miles and only could resupply at Devil's Postpile. I had a good selection of food, plus a 3 LB side of bacon and I ate trout and I hunted as I had a hunting license. Marmot is actually tasty, plus blue grouse and the occasional rabbit in the lowlands. They didn't have Ramen Noodles in 1972, but they had rice and bullion cubes for flavor if you were in a place where there wasn't trout.

hiking the PCT is quite the self-awareness experience. Evening sun going down, set up tent, fall back, kick off boots and socks, hooker wipes, Neopsporin on blisters. relax in North Face sleepin bag. ah. nother 12 miles in the books. Night is peaceful. No sound of trains or traffic. Its quiet. no noise of life. you hear noise in the distance and birds. Its very healing.

Odd question. Do you wear regular underwear, or something more breathable? I've heard of some good brands that are like 20 for one pair. Curious what other hikers do. I'm always hot and tend to sweat a lot and looking for something breathable for hiking and camping.

I am loving this videos. I work as a doctor in England, get home from work and watch these blogs. I've never hiked anything but finding this trip so inspiring and interesting.

If you make homemade beef jerky and then mix that with the Bear Creek chili mix is pretty damned good. I did this in a family camping thing.

Honestly find it astounding that you can walk this far like it's nothing- I get mad when I have to walk a few miles around village
