Remind me - which brands are the legitimate better alternatives that are out there once you turn your back on TaR?
Don't get me wrong - I'm also not pleased to see their customer support turning to the worse - though they're still the only ones with a lifetime warranty and I've heard numerous people getting years old pads repaired or even swapped.
Maybe some other brands have better cs handling in their short warranty spans of a year or such. But unless you're on a through hike, you're much more likely to spread the nights of usage out over months or years, so defects are much more likely to happen later on - and that's where TaR is still the only company to have a warranty for - even if it's dwindling, sadly.

I traded in my ThermaRest NeoAir Xlite for an Exped Synmat HL and have never looked back! I have the Med/Wide version bc I'm a side sleeper and it weighs 15 oz, just 3oz more than a regular width thermarest. It's crazy comfortable and doesn't make the awful potato chip bag noise! I've used it multiple times camping in the prickly Nevada desert with no ground sheet under my tent and it's holding strong, no leaks. Also, your mom and dog are the sweetest! Hopefully someday my mom will come backpacking with me!

Wow I'm surprised by that response from TheraRest and won't be buying any of their products because of your experience. Customer support is the single most effective way to create a positive experience and they missed the chance with you! What a shame! I hope they see these comments and change their priorities.

Not even counting your subs. but that's just bad customer service. To just tell you sorry, that's the best we can do! That's just not great for people who are actively out using your product. I mean, how many other hikers talk about their gear on the trail with eachother? You probably won't be recommending that to anyone out there.

1) dogs are smart and sleep during the heat of the day.
2) curious about the Uberlite, kind of seems like it might suck.
3) use your finger to apply chapstick to your nose and other areas, sticking it up your nose is funny though!
4) lanolin trumps any chapstick and is a multi use item.
5) good stuff!

Everyone who watches your videos needed to hear this about Therm-A-Rest. This is truth revealed in actual use of gear. I have made a major investment in Therm-A-Rest equipment through the years and still have one pad they will not fix, even though they advertised it as warrantied against anything.

I know I'm late to the party, but I don't care if I had used the pad for 6 months straight, poked a hole in it on purpose, and was only going to sleep on it for one more night! THESE PADS ARE NOT CHEAP! LIGHT WEIGHT, DECENT HIKING GEAR IS EXPENSIVE! They better send me SOMETHING!

why is a company making a delicate product anyway especially if it's going to be used for backpacking? clearly they don't know their customers or it would have been tough not delicate, and really bad since both leaked on the first night, not good at all.

Thermarest is owned by Cascade designs here in Seattle along with MSR, platypus and probably another brand or two. I have always had awesome luck with their customer service so in their defense it could have just been the person on the phone.
