2024 Ford Bronco Sport Review - Is This The Best Small SUV In America

Ford's Bronco Sport has been a big hit. Not just because of the retro styling, although that's certainly a reason, but also because the BS (unfortunate acronym if there ever was one) is just so darn good. Other companies have dabbled with the retro vibe, but the baby Bronco's retro shape means a roomier and more practical interior. It's also the only small SUV in America with a hatch glass that opens allowing you to stuff a 10-foot ladder inside (and hanging out the back) without figuring out how to tie the hatch down to the hitch receiver. The only real question left is: should you wait for the updated 2025 Or get a screaming deal on a 2024

I have to disagree with Travis and Alex regarding the new larger touchscreen infotainment on the 2025 and later Bronco Sports. It will not be an improvement. I tested out that system in the current Ford Escape, and it is execrable. Simple things like tuning the radio, or turning on your heated seats, are buried under submenus or hidden behind two or three swipes on the screen. The interface is awful and sorely fails the ease-of-use test from either the passenger's or the driver's position. In contrast, the infotainment stack of the 2024 and older Bronco Sports is the portrait of simplicity and ease-of-use.
I own a Subaru Outback XT, which has a massive central touchscreen where most climate and all music controls are. There are hardly any buttons in the infotainment, and I have lost patience with it. In contrast, the 2024 and older Bronco Sports are so much more usable. As I have been shopping for a replacement for the Subaru Outback XT, the Bronco Sport is now the top contender based largely on its practical shape and also based on its great infotainment. In short: big screens without buttons and knobs are worse than little screens with buttons and knobs.

24 Bronco Sport Badlands has the same clearance as a 25 With SAS. SAS is a $4k Upgrade For that $4k on a discounted '24, you can get an HRG 1. 5 lift, front skid, and mid skid. Then you still have $2k for other accessories. As for rear Shackles, get the '24 with tow kit and buy a hitch shackle. Not to mention that '24 are now selling for under Invoice.
Unless you want Sync4 (which removes physical HVAC controls) and the side tie-down latches, why spent probably near $10k more for a '25 with SAS.

I wanna see more small off roaders I didn't like the Jeep Wrangler thing is huge compared to an old samurai. It's so wide the tires stick out a mile and yet it's so cramped inside for what reason you don't gain Enough by shrinking the cab to make it worth it bring the cab level with the wheels and I can drag the sill over stuff on rock rails then you would have a more functional jeep but no I wanna see more vehicles like this with a more off road focus personally

It was always fun to find a Ford Special Edition flyer in the Sunday newspaper. Unique colors, designer interiors, feature/equipment upgrades; some special edition vehicles came with badges in key areas to let onlookers know you're not driving an ordinary car. Sometimes a simple tape stripe package can add interest to a slow selling car. Maybe the Freewheeling trim will be followed by a Country Squire edition for people needing a fake-woody fix.

This is the spiritual successor to the first and second gen escapes. My 2010 limited with 145k miles is my trusty steed and I want one of these so badly and love their character. But that 3 cylinder engine and all the complaints. I don’t off-road as much as I used to and am more on the road so a CX50 or 25 Equinox makes more sense to me. also drove a 25 forester and hated it (I sound spoiled )

2025 is a step backwards when it comes to interior usability. A kot of hard buttons are removed, the tray under the screen where i keep my phone is gone, the sunglasses compartment above is replaced with toggle switches haddly anyone would use. They didnt fix the annoying hood glare and added more screen space to assualt the eyeballs with

While I haven’t driven one yet, walking around dealer lots, I’ve been impressed by the combination of interior and exterior customizations (including some cool seat color/trim combinations) that the other mainstream manufacturers just don’t offer in a package like this. Thanks for the review guys.

Another year of not making a hybrid Bronco Sport, another huge missed opportunity. (Sigh) However, I _love_ the Freewheeling trim, I think they nailed the retro look just perfectly. And to answer Alex's question, that was indeed a factory option on the O. G. Bronco.

Not Only Can I possible Hit my head on the Center rear Latch and cause Massive Head Truma, But after Driving 688 miles in the Bronco Sport at 75 miles a Hour, I immediately Grab the Exhaust Pipe under the car and Got third degrees Burns on Both my hands.
reply

Nope, burn it. I would love a 2 door bronco classic with the 2. 7tt, but this thing is no better than the renegade or trailblazer it was built to compete with, just an absolute garbage market segment and every vehicle in it sucks

There are a ton of complaints about and problems with the Ford 1. 5. You didn't mention that in your review. Did they re-design this engine for this model in the past year or so If not, I don't see how you can recommend it.

If I was interested in leasing I’d consider this car. I like to buy & own my cars for at least 6-8 years and this car won’t last that long. Everyone I know that bought a Bronco has had major problems.
reply

I love that there is zero piano black plastic on the dash or center console. I just hate that stuff (dust and fingerprint magnets. I like the simple HVAC controls, too.

I bought my 24 BadSport basically fully loaded. I got over $5k off MSRP. And that is before they add the SAS package on the '25. So an almost $9k swing.
reply

I like the two-person, casual, conversational format. It makes the information about the vehicle easier to digest and less like a torrent of data.

A 3-cylinder turbo will burn out at 100k. In the 2000's, Ford put in a lifetime air filter. Its life expectancy was 150k. Planned obsolescence.

The best small SUV is a UV. The 2 door Wrangler has solid axles, a 2 speed transfer case, a hardtop option and a 6 speed manual standard.
reply

Alex and Nick, The fact you can option a Bronco Sport to the point where it costs more than a real Bronco simply boggles the mind.
reply

Yes I have a badlands 2025 in order! I own actually a 2022 badlands and this thing is amazing! No matter the weather I’m confident!
reply

This car sucks in every trim, now it's sucking retro style (it's just a oversized escape underneath. Want off road Go for a Wrangler
