Hi Lot
You want to watch several video and or read a review with lots of photos on the 19 Rav4 - by a professional writer/ driver. Look at the latest Motor Trend where they compare the Honda Crv and the Rav4. (you can google it)They had some improvements that Toyota would do well to improve upon for the 20 MY to become a better vehicle. Notice Alex did not mentioned the cargo space or how wide the doors open. 60 or 80 %. I like to know those things. These small suv are hard to get a car seat in the rear seat, when doors do not open wide enought. Spare tire? Location of same? Seat comfort? I find sun visor issue with autos any more. Not big enough to keep all the sun out of ones eyes. Some of my autos had like 3 visors on some past autos. They listed things that the average driver would notice or would have found. . or was sorely lacking or needed. They are not trying to sell the auto, just driving them and giving their findings and thoughts. They have more freedom to say things. and millions read them, too. So does Toyota. I am still looking at the Rav4. but have lots of questions, still. I have driven the van and it appears ok. Sienna 18. You can not turn off the eco mode in the van. So far. my looking and driving around has found. Honda lost it while back when they started messing with the trannys and then engines. I gave up on them still wont buy a crv. They became gutless there for a few years and many problems. Lots of lawsuits followed. Have not test drove the new passport. They is why, Rav4 has sold some many. Mean while, Mazda was running around trying to find how small of an engine they could get to work in any size suv/auto. Cross them off my list, too. Hyundai got too expensive and problematic with their quality. As did Kia. Certain models were ok. They got to work out their bugs and reduce their prices on their autos. Nissan. has cvt and do not like them. Quality issues, glore, I find. The Nissan brand will be going thru a big upheaval with Carlos being fired and in jail. He was going to merge the three companies next year. but a Japanese coup got him. Japan loves Carlos and Car managers hate them and foreigners running their companies. Heck, they make a hero status of him or rock star, etc. A poll few years ago show that Japanese people wanted him run their country. Interesting. Kids read Hero comic books about Carlos. The French owns part of Renault. and that goes over well for USA companies dealing with and giving China owning controlling interest. but not in Japan. Mitsu has a few nice things. Reading about the new Mitsu Van in Europe that has the French 2. 0 diesel engine and it is a six passenger van /suv combo. Like to see that come this way. Since Nissan owns part of Mitsu. lots of questions to be answered. Not sure if it will happen. Europe is banning diesels 100% in ten years or so. we will see if diesel if for big trucks only in the future. PS. AlexNice Job.

Entune. deal breaker. Entune is the biggest piece of junk in the the ENTIRE auto industry. I dont care what version you talk about. I was looking at this vehicle for my wife, oh well. Toyota just lost a sale. I have a 4 Runner Limited which is an awesome vehicle mechanically, but the Entune system, and I am being gracious calling it a system, completely sucks. I have gone so far as to buy a Samsung Tab A with a data plan, and mount it on the dash, just to have decent infotainment functionality. Why Toyota insists on hitching good vehicles, stylish vehicles, to this crap is beyond me. The display on that dash is abhorrent. Looks like a 12 box with a cheap 6 120p display surrounded by 1990s Chevy buttons spaced way to far apart, and THEN a full inch of useless piano black gloss framing around the whole thing. WHAT ARE THEY THINKING. Toyota owners have been screaming about how horrible this system is for YEARS, and to see them make this nice upgrade to the RAV4 and then double down with an Entune system is mind boggling. Personally, Ill take my chances with another manufacturer. If you are thinking about buying this vehicle really look long and hard that dash board. You may find the display looks ok for your own personal tastes, but you WILL come to HATE the electronics and functionality of the Entune system. Believe me.

I rented one recently for two weeks, and what a piece of crap. The interior was ALL black, so you could not see shit day or night inside - no lighted buttons for power windows - you had to feel around in the dark. The All Wheel Drive button was buried in a goofy dark spot. The ride was beyond horrible, the road noise totally unacceptable (so loud you could hardly hear the radio, the view out the back and sides terrible, narrow seats, tons of plastic inside (nothing soft, the sunshades made this banging sound on the top when you put them back up, and they blocked the rear view mirror when you put them down. It was just an OK car in my opinion. I thought it shit for a Toyota. For being so popular, I could not figure out why. It was easy to get in and out of, and was OK on gas. Engine and transmission were about what you would expect, but engine was loud when you gassed it. But when you sit inside, and see the hood bounce with most bumps in the road, you dont feel secure. The shitty ride and road noise killed this car for me. I almost took it back in the middle of my trip. I have a Tundra and it is wonderful, but the RAV4 - must be a kids car. Not worth the money - buy something else. I was hugely disappointed with this vehicle.

I own a 2017 and my complaints on this model are, squared wheel wells but even worse incomplete trim. The front nose is a block wall with less visibility over the hood and low front bumper with no approach angle to scrape curbs and driveways. The center console is wide and tall it is not ergonomic intrudes into knee room for 6 foot or taller drivers and is a pressure point on the side of my knee. The infotainment Center can no longer be replaced with an aftermarket so you could get the features you want like Android auto or CD or navigation Etc. for a mere few hundred dollars. The vents have been redesigned so I can no longer use my magnetic vent mount charger for my phone. The rear seat recline lever has been moved from a practical position by your hip to behind your shoulder where I cant hardly reach and I dont think they recline as much. The engine is much noisier. They have improved the seat back bolstering and steering wheel position adjustability. The main deal breaker for me is the wide center console hurts my knee, with the incomplete wheel well trim second.

No turbo. Thats why I buy Toyota. They dont buy into the new flavor of the year craze other manufacturers do. Toyota sticks to dependable and reliable technologies thats what I like about Toyota. If toyota wants more power in the rav4, the would simply put the v6 from the Camry into the rav4 again, no turbo needed. Not sure if the engine bay have the room in this gen but I love the v6 in my Rav4 which has plenty of power. I like the 19 rav4 styling but my 2010 rav4 have tons more cargo capacity when I fold the seats down completely flat, I use it like I would a pickup truck. I love that I had a full spare on the swing rear door it gave my rav4 a full size trunk underfloor storage compartment where the spare would otherwise be located, if the rear door would swing open just a little more it would have been perfect.

Great review and explanation of the different AWD systems. Im curious as to why they did the torque vectoring rear axle. More for off road ability or for hammering through mountain roads? Id have to think its the first scenario. Not many people who buy these are going to be ripping through canyons regularly. Its a Toyota and that counts for a lot but I still think a new CX-5 Turbo AWD for the same money is just more car. Too bad the space in that car is so small. They blew it there but are still selling pretty well now after all the great reviews. That car is now pretty quick with that turbo. Under 6 seconds 0-60. Mazda people asked for a turbo in that car and they got it.

Definitely the nicest looking RAV4 to date IMO, but Toyota got rid of the Locking-Center-Differential Button. Big mistake There is no substitute for 50: 50 power ratio to all four wheels in deep slushy snow (for those of us who live up North) or for off road. It also appears all manufacturers are starting to remove CD players. I get it that we live in a hi-tech society now but Compressed/Bluetooth music is garbage in Low-End music playback systems. Even though CDs are compressed as well they have a much higher quality sound even when played in cheap CD changers which is what you have in automobiles.

Toyota should offer a turbo option, though they have an adversity to using turbos. Nevertheless, the new 19 RAV4 thumps the new 19 Forester performance-wise 0-60. Subaru REALLY screwed up by deleted the turbo option, and not increasing the amount of HP/torque enough to compensate for the additional weight of the 19 Forester. No one wants to drive a Yugo-like performing vehicle. It can be dangerous in passing situations, merging onto interstates with poorly designed entrance ramps, and its a pain to drive an underpowered vehicle hauling heavy loads and/or driving in mountainous areas.

I own a 2006 RAV4 (with the spare on the tailgate)- extremely dependable, and great all around except for 1 thing - the noise. Just cant get it why Toyota would not give a better insulation to this relatively large with predictably more noise-generating resonating surfaces and cavities. Even a small thing like an insulation pad under the hood probably will dump down the engine noise. But not: Toyota stubornly does not want to put there a pad like Honda and Mazda does. Is there a particular reason for keeping the RAV4 loud?

I really want to say, why why toyota will reduce the screen size in the lower trim? I know that is detail, but sometimes detail will change peoples final decision. In my own opinion, toyota you really need to put more time on designing of the interiors. People will spend tons of time sitting in the car, good interiors really does matters. Focus on details, toyota will be better. Right now way too far to compare with Honda and Mazda. That is just my own opinion after I researched all competitors.
