2020 Subaru Outback Comparison By The Numbers And Pricing

The all-new Outback doubles down on Subaru's brand of value with more room, better performance and more gadgets than ever. This video focused on how the Outback stacks up against other 2-row mid-sized CUVs with a heavy focus on pricing. If you want to know how the Outback drives, that's coming on July 29

I know its really hard to talk about any vehicle's faults when one's livelihood depends on gaining and maintaining access to the auto manufacturers. However, I still wish there there could be reviewers of new vehicles who are brave enough to point out the serious faults of a vehicle and caution people against buying it. For example, Subarus are notorious for blowing head gaskets and developing warped heads, a very expensive fix and hard to do correctly. Also, Subaru CVT transmissions are weak and have far more premature failures than most other manufacturers' transmissions.

Glad that Subaru is keeping the price similar to the 2019 model despite this being an entirely new generation. I'd love to get one as soon as they release, but as others have commented Subaru is facing a number of quality issues as of late. If I had to pick a vehicle in this class today it'd be the Passport, but I'm really hoping Subaru put all their best resources forward on the Outback and it becomes a major success. They cannot fail on this one, it's too crucial to their profit in the US.

Alex, I'd prefer to wait for full review to this format. Because I'll watch the video thinking there will more insight into how car drives and what not and you normally cover price, size, and comparison in regular review. This format is similar to when car magazine write a review based on a passenger ride from the manufacturer.

Thanks for the video. While I appreciate your detailed nature, you are leaving out - Width - A wider vehicle offers more practicality, room, space etc. The Outback is fairly narrow. I believe the Passport, for example is 3-4 inches wider. This is significant. Please try to include this and note the width in future reviews. Thank you.

In practice the top end versions of the Outback will be more expensive that top end versions of both the Edge & Murano, by a significant amount. 37. 5k is lowest I can find for a 2019 Outback 3. 6 Touring while the Edge Titanium AWD is listed as low as 32k and Murano Platinum AWD around 34k.

boooo cvt offroad vehicle. This guy is turning into another clown. Did he mention that this yet another offroad pretender with a donut spare? Pretty much half baked subaru advertisement for the ultimate fail.

Looks much better but I just can't see myself buying another Subaru after cracking a piston in my last one. I am looking at 2 or 3 row family cars so this could have been a contender in the upper XT trims.

Will they iron out their quality issues? 2019 had a terrible year for quality. CVT engine has questionable longevity and recall for welding fault under the hood was embarrassing

Good format. Enjoy the comparison charts that I can freeze frame if necessary. I suggest a night mode to see how the vehicle lights up inside and out.

It will last you for 3 years then transmission falls off as soon as warranty is out. That's pretty much sums up Subaru quality.
