Devon Gee: With the V6 engine disappearing from the midsize sedan segment (and rightfully so, in my opinion, there is obviously going to be an increase in cars with lower, longer and sleeker front end designs, as theyre no longer needing to be built to accommodate a big V6. The powerful midsize sedans hurt the sales of the full size sedans and now that crossovers are dominant, manufacturers are finally able to restructure their lineups how they see fit. The [Altima] sedan, like Deni Le Vot states in his presentation, now caters to generation X and Y, demanding more stylish, sporty looks alongside technology in their cars. Doing this is not cheap, and so the V6 engines had to go in order to keep these advanced new sedans costs down. That is why the Camry looks different from the rest: it still has to carry a fat V6 engine and it is the most expensive of the Japanese sedans, at least when comparing everybodys top trim & specs. In person, people will notice the Camrys struggle to look as good as the other sedans, because the sculpting is able to be done so much better for the ones that know their place, than it is for a car that, whether it has one or not, exists on an assembly line that will also fit a V6 into it. I like this new Altima better than Accord and Camry. Cannot wait for the test drive.

It seems Nissan and the rest are learning from Hyundais new design language. just look at this new front grill and compare it to that on the 2018 sonata. The more obvious borrowed designs are found in the interior floating touch screen and horizontal dash layout. Its good to see the competition in this segment as it benefits the consumer in the long run. its a shame they get the power train right but skip the awd. I would love to see a 6 speed manual 2. 0 turbo awd in the Altima. but I guess thats asking for superman too soon. Maybe the new mazda 6 might no dash my hopes. Overall, the from grill design is a step in the right direction. I hope they keep it leanier across their line up and make their badging a bit more distinctive. The generic gloss mesh-grill everyone is going for is good but I will like to see Nissan have their own interpretation of it.

I agree with you, and its the first thing I thought when I saw it, it is easily more attractive than the Accord and Camry. I dont care for that piece of black plastic in the C pillar behind the rear side glass, its kind of tacky looking. A black, dark gray or silver color will help it disappear. The interior has a clean look though not as nice as the Accord and I guess there is no use in complaining about the tablet style display since they are all doing it now regardless of so many people disliking them. The one in the 2019 Honda Insight is one of the best I have seen in that it has a much more integrated look.

Its more attractive than the new accord i can say that much. Nissan needs to improve on the reliability of their CVTs for me to consider one. I will also pass on the variable compression engine. Just seems like its just more that can go wrong. I want to like Nissan but being a current Nissan owner (Titan pick up) their dealer support is pretty shotty. Right now beating the new Camry is going to be very tough for Nissan. Maybe if they had a warranty like the new Titans have will help them gain more buyers? Worked for Hyundai.

Ive Nissan Altima 2013 and its pathetic, its gear shifter not working its 1k to fix the shifter, Also its stopped working, AC Condenser needs to be replaced, about 1400 expense, And my car is only 5 year old and having 45k miles and started showing major issues which usually comes after 100k miles, Better I would have bought Honda or Toyota, I would Never go with Nissan in future

I doubt the AWD version will sell well. Fleets will not spend the money for it. Enthusiasts want the fastest car in the model lineup, which means the turbo version which doesnt offer AWD, and in fact the AWD will be the slowest accelerating of them all due to extra weight and no off the line benefit to the AWD (too little torque to make any difference for off the line traction.

Very nice I love the retro 80s Nissan look of the tail lamps(black outlined with amber turn signals. However I didnt notice ventilated seats. I guess theyre reserving that for the Maxima, like Toyota did with the Avalon (N/A on Camry. Its good to see Apple CarPlay/Android Auto available. The biggest question for me is how well will it perform with the Turbo/CVT powertrain.

The exterior is definitely my favorite in this class, but I disagree that the interior is the best. Its definitely an improvement, but its basically a copy of other competitors and seems to be missing some features such as ventilated seats and a 360 camera that I would expect. Im reserving judgement but I think the new Mazda 6 will have the best in class interior.

They should have had this car for 2018. A six year run on the Altima is too long The 2018 is way behind on standard safety technology. I Hope they improve the CVT transmission as well. It whines really bad going downhill. This 2019 still lags behind on horsepower and performance when compared to the Accord and Camry. Nissan continues to ignore this model.

Love the way it looks and Im excited about the possibility of AWD. Cant wait to see how it performs, and what the value proposition will be. Looking to buy a premium trim mid-sized sedan this fall, and right now the Mazda 6 GT is the best value proposition. Im interested to see if the Altima with either the AWD or the VC engine can beat it.
