2024 Subaru Crosstrek In-Person First Look
video description
I would be in support of a Crosstrek hybrid like their previous PHEV model -- but why not bring the PHEV system to the Forester instead? That should have happened a generation ago rather than relegate it to the Crosstrek, resulting in compromised trunk capacity.

Wish they d put the 2. 4L Turbo in it. Would be the perfect car.
Uhhh The Outlack tablet is awful. I d jump on the prior gen Crosstrek now just to avoid it.
I d call this more of a refresh/update not an all new model. All ICE cars will likely remain stagnant as we usher our EV panacea future.
Look forward to range anxiety for future skiing and outdoor adventure trips.

I'd probably get the CrossTrek over the Impreza, especially since the plastic cladding on the former is tastefully done and not excessive like it is on the Mazda CX-30, for example. Wish the 2. 5L version was built in Japan as well since that would be the version I'd get, unless the 2. 0L/CVT combo was modified to provide a better performance than the outgoing model.

Subaru have become incredibly boring and all their models are very much the same, just seems to have been no innovation over the past decade. I'm awaiting delivery of a new Outback XT, but can't say I'm overly excited about it as the Australian model has a lot less power and torque than the US models, and they look just like every other outback over the years.

Hate the large screen, hate it in Ford products too. Idk why some auto makers are so insistent in making people fight with the bottom quarter of these screens to put the de-fogger on the windscreen. It's climate controls they don't need to feel special just let me change where the airs blowing without needing to depend on the lane keep assist to save my ars.

glad to see the heated seats aren't buried in some infotainment menu. The more physical or at least dedicated HVAC controls outside of a screen the better. Putting them in a screen just gives them the capability to software lock them unless you pay extra, or worse a sub fee. Having a physical or dedicated button means they can't hold them hostage.

Bringing back the 2. 0 engine is kind of a miss. It's adequate for putting around, but there are times where I want more power. I do like it for the most part though.
Edit: not having rear vents is a HUGE miss. Probably not a deal breaker for most, but definitely is something wanted if you're transporting more than 2 people

Subaru came out with a plugin hybrid cross-trek a couple of years ago, but to my dismay, it was not sold in Colorado. Colorado is Subaru country! Why? Will they offer the plug-in hybrid here (Colorado) in 2024? We need to replace our 2003 Toyota Highlander, and the hybrid cross trek was at the top of the list.

I was going to wait for this all-new 2024 Crosstrek until I heard the announcement that they would do away with the manual transmission in the USA, that's when I decided to get the 2023 model that still comes in a manual transmission. I'm a bit disappointed that Subaru decided to make this decision.

It's interesting to see the gold accents on the crosstrek, somewhat reminiscent of the Subaru Wilderness trims. That said, a Crosstrek Wilderness would fly off the lot. And yes, I realize it would be a jacked up version of a jacked up version, but lifted crosstrecks exist in the wild

In a couple of years I might buy my wife a 2022 Crosstrek. We both despise that 12 touchscreen. I m looking at a 2019 outback. I can replace that touchscreen with an aftermarket one and disable auto start/stop with a wiring harness in the eyesight system.

So, nothing to write home about: the same engines as before, no turbo, no plugin hybrid, and it looks like they killed the 6-speed manual (and probably, the hybrid too. Subaru has turned into a boring brand for college students, soccer moms and retirees.

Sorry to see the manual transmission go away (for here in the USA. Always was a debate to go with the underpowered 2. 0 with a manual or the more horsepower engine with the CVT though. I like the updates they've done to the styling.

For only 70 more, Subaru has got something going. On another note, aren t the Crosstrek s still made in Japan? our new 23 Crosstrek serial # starts with J I thought that designates that it was made in Japan?
