Ferrari 12Cilindri in-depth review - 819bhp V12 grand tourer driven

The new Ferrari 12Cilindri epitomises the brand like no other current model, thinks Ferrari of its new 9500rpm V12 grand tourer.   Replacing the 812 Superfast, the new 12Cilindri is tasked with doing a similar, but not quite the same, job, as preceding V12 Ferraris. Thanks to the existence of the racy SF90, the 12Cilindri has been allowed to be more of a grand tourer than the 812 and the F12 that came before it, they say. Is that true Join Matt Prior as he tests the new 12Cilindri and brings you all of its technical details. As a coupe, the 12Cilindri costs 336, 500 in the UK. It has a 6. 5-litre V12 making 819bhp at 9250rpm, 500lb ft at 7250rpm, can go from 0-62mph in 2. 9sec and has a 211mph top speed. 00: 00 Introduction 00: 20 Design and aerodynamics 02: 20 Engineering and technical details 04: 00 Interior, ergonomics, infotainment 07: 04 Driving impressions 15: 16 Verdict, outro For more from Autocar, including access to the full 129-year Autocar archive, visit us at themagazineshop. com/autocar

The baby's diarrhoea yellow is horrible and not a big fan of the black stripe across the front. Not quite as bad as the body colour front grille with holes on the Roma, which looks like a drain cover. It seems quite noisy for a grand tourer but maybe Matt has the exhaust on sport setting and his microphone is picking the noise up louder than it is to ears. I think it will be better when Ferrari go to a smaller engine, still hopefully a V12 but with a pair of turbos to boost low end and mid range torque. Having had Porsche 911 Turbos for many years, I really like that shove in the back at 3000 RPM.

I hope it looks MUCH better in person than in this video. The Daytona's front end was a compromise and not the designer's original goal--please keep in mind that the blank panel was in response to US regulations. Why adapt a compromised styling feature If, according to this presenter, Ferrari thinks the sci fi era of styling was the best, then why are the most desirable models (according to auction prices) from the era that just preceded the Daytona--250 GT SWB, 250 GTO, 250 GT Lusso, 250 LM, 275 GTB (that sells for over 3x the price of a Daytona.

Whatever you see in it, I don't. It's not the muscled beauty of 599, doesn't have graceful forms as 458 Italia, and is not even close to the king of design and masculinity as F12 Berlinetta.
Because the exterior is Ferrari, not the Pininfarina creation.
The ass is just ugly, the front is dull, and it looks like a duckbill.
The car's interior is now for people who cannot figure out their gender and who know for sure that they are not men or women.

It great to see Ferrari have paid homage to the ever so beautiful Ferrari 365GTB/4 Daytona while the styling is very ultra modern the front end looks gorgeous the blended glass roof looks so 21st century the rear is gorgeous too I love ever aspect of this car I only wish I could buy one if I could I would take one in black. 12: 16

I sad to be Ferrari crazy when I was a younger chap but with age comes honesty I'm not dazzled and blinded by the logoIMOOpinion this Ferrari is bloody as ugly as sin. I know the engine will be perfect but the looks are awful. There are far nicer looking cars for half the price. Just my opinion nothing more.

Nice car but I wouldn’t spend 400k plus on it (ridiculous pricing. It’s a fast grand tourer okay.
But doesn’t seem to put a laughter or even a big smile on the testers faceand that is what I definitely would and do expect from an expensive sports car! So, unfortunately Ferrari failed in that regard!

Ferraris new direction across all models looks horribly mismatched trying to do the retro-modern thing.
Loved the 812. 2017
Loved the F8 2019
I see where they want to go with the new designs but it just doesn't work for me.
I'll check back in around 2030. New Ferraris are off the dream list.

I'm sure Ferrari could do better than making a 1700kg 12 cylinder sportscar. 1500kg then I would be ok with it. With all the modern carbon fibre available this would be no problem but somehow they stick with their aluminium construction which isn't that light to be honest.

Just gets uglier with every iteration.
599 was great.
F12 was perfection. Looked and still looks amazing.
812 looked good but seemed to make changes for the sake of it.
This though. just looks terrible. The back is absolutely hideous. Shockingly bad.

The best thing about this new Ferrari is that I how it makes previous cars like the 812 cheaper to buy now. Personally Ferrari created a stunning love child in the 812 super fast, they’ve then gone to make it a younger sister and ended up with a fugly woke sibling
reply

This new GT Ferrari looks stunning. I love it, but the soundtrack, based on this video, is rather disappointing. They’ve cut the V12’s vocal chords. Even the Revuelto which is no match to the Aventador, sounds far better. Regulations are killing fine machinery
reply

Huge improvement over the unattractive 812 and tarts handbag Comp. Rear aero panels and panel between headlights need to be body colour. When ordering uncheck the tasteless carbon fibre box. Real buttons and knobs for heater controls pleaseand three pedals
reply

It so rare to see Ferrari with any link to their front fascia design from one model to the next. They've never held on to any recognisable visual identity. So it's somewhat unsual that there's somewhat of a homage in the front headlight bar design.
reply

This is a very pretty car but they should have just called it Ferrari Daytona GTB or similar. Also interesting how they have reduced engine sound to meet new noise regulations but the media has been saying Last 12 cylinder for over decade
reply

Hmmm. I can’t afford it but if I could I wouldn’t. 812 looks far better to me that this compromise Daytona look. The sound is the biggest disappointment for a V12, can’t hear it either on your road test or the short track clip.
reply

It says Daytona to me immediately and I love it. now we just need a much cheaper front mid engine car which handles from another manufacturer NA without all the bloatware. 300bhp will be nice, 4 cylinder euro 6 spec,

The width is becoming a major problem for London. Does Ferrari think about this All the width restrictors for the bridges are 2m and some flyovers too. This is 2m, so I assume it just cannot take any of those roads.
reply

Not an attractive shape, inelegant details, looks Japanese. Long boring low intensity drive with a nice but grizzled old man talking, never challenging the car, has me out of here in 7m goodbye.
reply

Not a fanFerrari should learn from Gordon Murray, Porsche, Pagani and release a driver oriented car with a manual transmissionthey could ask whatever amount of $$ they want and people would pay it
reply

You drove the car so slowly and then concluded you liked it much better than an 812. How so It seems much quieter and almost a German sedan to just cruise in. Is that the spirit of a Ferrari V12
