A bit of useless information in today s world. There is a puller that screws into the ac clutch, the opening where the bolt is should be threaded and the tool had 2 different hub thread patterns on it. Adjustment washer located behind that clutch. It s a machined washer and having something just laying around is slim to none. I started as a pro in 1991 and we did a lot of fixes and repairs in that shop.
Today s market, what you said is 100%, the clutch would cost you about what the compressor costs before getting into labor costs. Still have the same problem with that, finding a shim and adjusting that gap. If memory serves I think we did. 008 and we had a box of specific ac clutch adjusting shims. Anyway, the heat created by slipping clutch cooks the snot out of the coil and also hits that front compressor seal hard. So labor, clutch kit and compressor seal would put you way over comp. replacement cost.
I always enjoy the content man thanks for posting videos for us. I learn a lot from you

Could be many things? Resistors, capacitors, the ac, s fan the two or one engine cooling fans, the engine temp sensor not to mention wireing then the compressor and then the clutch for the compressor. its never ending not as somple as yur click bating title. The manny people with there many diffrent problems thinks this video is going to fix it but yur wrong iv had multiple problems before and there all nearly the same after mins of been on or driving. Good luck in the future im OUT.

I have definitely run into this on a few vehicles over the past 10 years. What I have had luck with is simply bending the springs to hold the clutch just a little closer to the rotor. That's all it really needs. Now is that a guaranteed fix? No. But it's cheap and easy, and you really don't have anything to lose. In my experience, you will find out pretty quickly if the adjustment didn't take and once you get it tweaked enough, it will last year and years with no issues.

Hey Mister I found your problem!
You need to find someone else to drive A While around and your AC problem will be fixed.
A While is an ingrate anyway.
Thanks to the EPA/Montreal Protocol, there are no inexpensive AC fixes. The days of the 3. 00 can of R12/134a are long gone. Now it's a receiver dryer, O-ring set, compressor, probably a line or two and a system flush. 500, thank you very much.

My wife's Volvo V70 had the same problem. The gap had become too wide for the clutch to engage. A hack I found was to wrap thin metal wires around the bolts between the clutch and the plate where the clutch rests when not engaged and so make the gap narrower. Did that 3 years ago and it still works perfectly. Took me something like an hour to figure out how to do that exactly and costs were zero!

ICING was a possibility. If you run max cold and low fan, some systems will not get warm enough inside the car resulting in icing of the lines preventing the freon from circulating. turn the system off and let the lines warm up will return it to normal operation. The fix is simple, turn up the fan or temperature to prevent the icing.

I feel. .. Incomplete, like I've read to the end of a mystery novel and the whodoneit is missing. What did the customer opt for? Will he just pull over, pop the hood and hokey pokey the clutch when it gets warm in his Subaru? Will he get just the clutch so he can come back again when the compressor grenades? What will happen next!

MrSubaru1387 shows using 3 - 5mm bolts to push the clutch plate off to adjust the air gap on a 2002. From the number of videos on it this it seems to be a very common problem. As you say, the labor probably eats up the difference between replacing the compressor and adjusting the clutch and reduces the chance of another comeback.

Morning Eric. can you please make a video that explains what to look for in scan data values. such as fuel trim etc. usefull to see you use the methods to diagnose but would be even more helpful to know what exactly to be looking for. and what they mean. Thank you, love your videos, you inspired me to open my own shop
