As a Kia tech, on the outside panel if you grab the bottom and give it a good pull outwards they'll pop off. I've done hundreds of these repairs with no damage to panel, even with extreme cold in midwest!
There is a warranty extension in the sliding door motors. Doesn't apply to every Sedona.
I did laugh once you put the rear seat belt in without the panel, caught that instantly and got a good chuckle. Atleast you didn't try to hide it haha, sadly I've done it and I see these repairs maybe 2 times a month.

Nice work Mr O. It's half three in the morning here in the UK. and ive really enjoyed watching this, its really helped take my mind off the bad toothache Ive got. Only another five hours to go before the dentist opens up his doors for the day. In the grand scheme of things, that rear quarter combo is a really neat piece of design the way they have intergrated it alltogether. The dealer-strips must be rubbing their hands together when they see this sort of money making kit fitted on new model cars.

It's always the skinny guy in the room that calls himself fat Tell you something dude. You don't know the first thing about being truly fat. Oh and by the way it's not a boring video. It always makes me laugh when the people making the video. Says I'm not going to bore you with this. Because they get bored with it. We're not bored at all. Show us everything except for your potty breaks. We draw the line at that. Don't cross it

Mr. O,
This job was a lot more involved than Mrs. O's repair. Now, don't leave her hang'n on taillight repair. That'll take just a minute or two. Use the ole bargaining thing. Hey, if you fix such and such for lunch, I'll fix your broken taillight. Bet you 50 bucks that will work!
Take care. Tell the Mrs. I said, chello!

The best way to research stuff like this. Instead of looking at service data: just look up a video. You can quickly scroll through it and see all the details much quicker. I can't remember the last thing I needed to look up that didn't have a video. Just about everything has been recorded by now.

As this crap get older and plastic panel cost a fortune time to get trim screws and tape. A few trim screws and tape is a lot cheaper than a 500 dollar panel that I could care less if it had a few trim screws showing and some tape. You have to do what you have to do on 8 year old vehicle and older.

I saw the rear seatbelt not being threaded through the trim piece. I am not a KIA or Hondu guy. I have missed that more times then I care to admit. Now I don't feel like a BIG DUMMY! BTW Mr. O I am stealing that line HE CAN'T EVEN FIX A SANDWICH! I can use it a t work. Great video again.

I drop nuts and bolts all the time. I learned to use a shred of paper or shop towel to keep the nut or bolt wedged in the socket. Some use a dab of grease. I like to call the Ricola tube a doo dahh tube. Used to march around the house with my kids going doo dahh all day. Drove the Mrs. crazy.

these videos might be boring to you Eric but for someone that has to work on their own door at home it's a godsend. You screw up and then say the way it should be done. To quote the Chickanic you save the DIY-er time and frustration. The sun was not a bother it looked great.

Okay, first of all, WTH is with the 20 clips to hold that panel on What a ridiculous design. Second, this video shows how this shop runs like a swiss watch because of Mrs. O. If I had to fix one of those things, the van would need a body shop when I got done.

Please let me tell you about my grandfather, He built Guaranteed Gears Service in Chicago. He was the president of the Chicago Automotive replace parts Association. Manford Myers, he bought the Bankrupt Michigan 40 and assembled the cars in his shop.

Hey, Eric, can I schedule a fluid film service with your shop or are you simply too busy I have a 24' Camry so the job should be pretty clean and easy I ask because there are not really too many legit shops near me, thanks for the vids as usual.
reply

Well you did it now the mechanics number one fupa you said it was going to be easy peasy boy are you in trouble now I see mechanic say yeah just put one nut on how hard can it be you'll be easy 4 years later they're still trying to get that nut on

If that clip broke on my car I would have super glued it together when it broke and put in the back where I could get to it easily until I could get a new one. The wife would not be happy if it started making noises. Happy wife, well you know.

My dad’s 1966 VW bus had two swing open doors hinges were made of steel on the hinges were like house door hinges the barrel was on door and frame a simple fabric strap limited the opening. No electric motor no crap plastic covers.

What I've always found frustrating about interior trim panels is that, whatever job you need to do, you have to take all the other panels off to get to the one you need to remove. I hate car designers. I'm glad I'm retired now.
reply

Thanks, not boring at all, not a job I would like to tackle.
All this complexity just so you don't have to open it with your hands. I like your attention to detail and ensure everything is torqued to factory spec, yes I know.

This is a 2018 so doesn't apply, but if you have a 2015-2017 Sedona and have problems with the power sliding door not latching closed Kia has extended the warranty on that to 15 years/unlimited mileage and will fix it for free.
reply

I would have done the exact same thing on the one retainer that was broken. Who in the right mind is going to worry about one retainer when there's 10 holding the panel on That's ridiculous and I think he did the right thing.
reply

I'm all for progression and moving forward but the plastic fantastic interiors of modern cars is the major reason I don't own them. Scared I'll need to take the door apart and break the plastic and every damned clip every time.
