For the eyelet I think the preferred type in the salt belt would be a tin-plated copper eyelet and not bare copper. It looks like you could have used an HD eyelet given it is the only eyelet on the stud. You could remove the plastic strain relief if you used a long barrel eyelet (Panduit Pan-Lug LCB6-38-L, 6 AWG lug, no inspection window, 3/8 inch stud. Not sure what you stud size is but choose a lug that matches, I picked a 6 AWG Panduit lug because it looked close to all of the wires together.
You can put three compression crimps on the long barrel lug. For an electric / hydraulic crimper the 6 Ton Greenlee Gator (Greenlee EK628LX11 with KC22 Hex Dies) can fit into very tight places and the hex dies work extremely well with no sliver ears and the crimper is very fast. However, the Greenlee Gator and dies are expensive, for me it is part of the wire line for standard crimps (mostly internal cable sets or NEC control cabinets. The Greenlee K22S1GL 6 Ton die set (KC22) goes down to 8 AWG which is very handy for automotive work, because my smaller hex hand crimpers are best up to 10 AWG. A 6 ton crimper on a 6 AWG lug will basically cold weld all of the copper strands into a single copper slug which in my opinion is better than a soldered connection, especially if you have a long barrel lug with three 6 ton crimps. If you try to solder the triple 6 ton crimp no solder will get into the lug. If you cut through the lug and clean up the cut surface face you will see solid copper with absolutely no space anywhere.
Having the Greenlee you have more options to extending a splice ground connection if you have to by using long barrel in-line tin plated butt splices from Panduit. If you don't have enough wire length just crimp on a splice use a short 6 AWG wire and crimp on the eyelet. Seal both with dual wall heat shrink. I say you have options because the Gator is so fast you can get the job done quickly even if you have to add an in line butt splice to extend the ground wire. In the end crimping with the Greenlee is just faster than soldering.
For automotive up to HD trucks (max wire size is generally 2/0 up to F350 Truck) I have a full selection of common size Panduit lugs and splices. I also stock Burndy automotive top post POS and NEG battery terminals.

Eric, if you think your inspection sticker is a pain, you should deal with emissions! Here in the grand state of Illinois, the car may have maybe one headlight, no bumpers cracked windshield, and if it passes emissions, it's good to go down the highway. Imagine if you will go get your vehicle tested and your next to a car that has all the windows duct taped closed doors that are so rusted you can see into the car. And the car passes and gets licensed for the street! Yet you're actually my truck that is 5 years old, no rust 23000 miles running perfect
FAILS! Because I adjusted the carburetor to lean! This is a true story! I was sure I entered the Twilight Zone. Then it hit me this is the illinois government zone. LOL

Just chased down a burned up radiator fan connector using stuff I learned here. The low speed fan wasn't working, I first thought to look at relays, they tested good, pulled the plug to put 12v to the fan and it worked fine, probed the front of the connector and could get voltage only when I wiggled the hot wire. Upon closer inspection, the hot side had some heat discoloration. It was fitting loose, arcing, and burning. Tested it by plugging it back in, commanding the low speed fan on then just wiggled the plug and suddenly the fan came on. Owner was right there and thought I was a wizard.

I love Prodemand for this. I make major bucks diagnosing the electrical at my work. I don't know why I like doing this. My other co-workers just lets me have the electrical gremlins that come in through the door. Then they are amazed when I find the shorts, Broken wires, Corroded wires. Helped me with a 2019 Camero with a shorted heated seat module that was back feeding voltage to keep the ECU from shutting down. The car would never shut off. Or fuel gauges gone all wonky or not working, GM grounds are my favorite.

08 Grand Cherokee owner here. Maybe they should have not used $1. 50 per linear mile speaker wire for my grounds too. Every few months there's something going out like turn signals, headlights, interior lights, cigarette lighter causing me to go to my friendly home depot and buy lengths of actual wire that promotes electron distribution. What a group of motherless bas. Where do I find a picture/drawing of all the actual ground points

I kept telling one of my lady customers that her old VW diesal was wore slap out. finally one cold winter day it gave up the ghost. the stuff she said to me made me turn her away when she came to the shop with her new car. I finally did her alignment, but never changed oil or anything else, Back then I charged 29. 95 for the alignment. was still using my Electron align machine.

I read someplace. if you let it idle for one minute, then turn on the AC and let it idle for one minute, and then drive it for about 15 minutes with the AC on, it learns faster (defrost will work in the winter. than just driving it until it eventually learns its drive cycles. I have no way to verify that, but hey, at least you feel like you've gotten the job done faster.

I have A 2017 Jeep Patriot (looks just like that 2011 Compass) and I found G104 and IT is in the Process of corroding. It doesn't look too bad because I live in a drier climate and keep it in a garage. So I'm going to remove it and shine it up and then cover G104 with battery terminal grease and maybe some tape to help the grease stay in place. Yes

How do you like that Autel scan tool We just got a similar one. It came with the new ADAS and alignment machine we just got. Have only done one ADAS calibration with it so far. Have done a bunch of alignments with it though. I'm still getting used to the scan tool portion of the tool. I normally use the Launch scan tool we also have.

To you it's just another grounding fault, but to the viewers it's another good lesson that drives the message home. There'll still be plenty of views.
My takeaway from this video is that if the crappy plastic engine cover isn't going over it's retainers properly, dab your finger in a random pool of oil and smear it on them.

It's too bad your schematic tool doesn't have reverse look up. Then you could just look up what uses that ground. Not trying to be a smarty pants but I've used PLC controls (non automotive) where you could do that. You would think they could cadweld the grounds to the body or something better. Anyway thanks for great video.

Boy oh boy I wish I could bring my car to you. Says every person in the comments. if we had one in every state identified as an Eric O cloner the country as a whole would be a better place. After paying a thousand bucks to change a damn alternator. I want to cry. Why cant I have an Eric O. It's just not fair.

Just did this exact same thing on the exact same (1 year different) model, this past week. The ONLY real difference between what you did and what I did, was which solenoid we picked for testing, and the scan tool used. hilarious similarity, except your video was much more entertaining!

Love the live type - get to see the struggle. Still picturing a guy unhooking some wires with needle nose a ground connecion on a Chrysler product --- Happens a LOT. Would have been faster if your tablet was working properly 3: 34 - cmon Autel - diagnose your image file display functionality please.

Great troubleshooting and fix. I'm wondering WHY this point oxydize. Will this could be prevented if someone sprayed it with dielectric spray to prevent oxydation inside wires. Or it occures because of vibration in that spot. Prevention is cheaper than intervention

I too like the live diagnoses. It's very nice having the experience and knowledge to be able to look at a group of similar codes, and know right away what the issues is. Check the diagram, a few verification tests, and make the repair. Great video. Thanks
