Had a 2008 Accent with 138, 000 on it (in 2021. It had an odd problem>>starts cold fine but would stall upon stopping at a stop sign after ten minutes with no codes. No restart for awhile. Figured the fuel pump was getting weak due to age an miles so pre-emptively changed it (of course the tank was full>>had to drive it awhile to get it low enough to not spill>>pump accessible from back seat. Problem not fixed. No codes. Didn't want to take it to a shop for diagnosis as the car was worth little so got rid of it. It had a bad heater core and the SRS light was on due to a defective sensor in the passenger seat. Not replaceable>>needed a new seat at $800. Curious to know what the actual stalling problem was caused by.

I have a Launch scanner X-431 series for the last 4 years. I wanted an Autel, but the extra cost was horrific here. My only complaint is the cost of updates, 2 years costing half what the scanner cost (with its included 2 free update years. Wouldn't mind so much if I was not paying for 50% of total updates being for shitboxes that are not even in my country. Yes I realise they have selective updates (for 6 or 12 models fro example) but I do not know what I will see every week, so need all the models in my country. Once you get used to the interface, it works fine. I also have a new Thinkcar BT scanner, with lifetime updates in the price of the scanner, for the same cost as 2 year Launch updates.

Worked in retail auto parts for many years. When I worked for AAP from 04-08. Mostly sold hard parts like brakes, steering and chassis parts. Very rarely did we see sensors or electrical parts come back. Fast forward to 2019 when I wanted a part time job. Worked at the AZ for a year or so. There I would see sensors or starters come back more frequently. AZ promotes their code reader like it’s the diagnosis. The biggest problem with retail auto parts is corporate. Because it trickles down to the personal behind the counter. Either they don’t know or care. Which leads to not asking important questions.
Then the people who care or have knowledge. They leave for something better.

I love watching Eric trouble shoot. My 95Ford 150 went nuts with so many changing symptoms I pulled the ecm replaced the electrolytic capacitors and repaired an eroded trace. It ran fine for three days and wouldn’t start unless it was cold outside. Apparently the coolant temperature sensor causes a flooding condition ( a common problem) with no codes on the OBD -1 smoke signal system. The sensor doesn’t seem to be on the Haynes schematic. I’m going to change out the sensor tomorrow. The resistance values and gain of the sensors are quite different. At least I found the fuel rail Schrader value and a had a trip down memory lane.

Plugs or wires 30 minutes in. or front O2 sensor. My experience is that usually students drive these cars because they are affordable. It is not like drunks were driving them through ditches or passing out in the car and idling for 8 hrs. But they never maintain the car because they are going to Upgrade after College or University. So they are not cars that have seen extreme service, unless it was a Dominos delivery car it just gets Miled-Out. Econo-box Hyundais simply have never been serviced or maintained other than some students change the Oil regularly. So they are usually easy to fix.

Hi Mr. O. Thank you for your video. One hour long bad-ass fixing and bad-ass comments of some off everything. Glad the fix was good for that car and costumer. In the last part of the videao i saw in an blink of an eye the signal of the downstream following the upstream sensor. That could be a defect katalic converter. Came that same signal from the upstream back into the signal of the downstream Or was that puppy fixed with only an new upstream sensor As for many time if the car is pegged oud rich, the catalic coverter also passed away during the process.

I saw part of the clamp it can't be one of those idiotic things. Heard Eric O complaining about the washer thought no way they're still around. Then I saw the screw, the block and the washer, and yelled it is one of those gosh darned things. Nissan and Toyota used those things in the 70s and 80s and were smart enough to get rid of them. Those things are a pain even without the washer. I wonder who at Hyundai dug those out of the archeological dust bin and thought yeah we'll use these, there can't be any reason everyone else abandoned them.

This is a little late and I apologize. It pertains to the Eric O After Hours video entitled Two Bucks Down Minutes Apart. You are always very complimentary to Mrs. O and she proved how much she deserves the accolades in this video. While she was helping you prep the deer she put a hand on the deers leg. That hand had a glove on it with the index finger cut back to show what A perfectly and beautifuly
manicured fingernail! What a classy lady! Enjoyed the hunting videos. Keep them comong.

The parts store and the manufacturer have different priorities. The manufacturer is only concerned with the warranty period. The parts store could not care less. They can just say, That is was the scan tool said. Being that you took the car to them to diagnose the fault they know you have little to no real knowledge about finding and fixing faults in anything.
Having worked the vehicle repair trade, even experienced mechanics struggle with diagnostics and are limited by their willingness to learn.

You think that's bad then check this out. In appliance repair due to the flammability of refrigerant these days we can really diagnose a refrigeration issue so instead we're stuck ordering the entire parts list for the refrigeration system so when we go back we're ready for as anything. Many compressors and evaporators being sent back due to this. Of course it's warranty since replacing a compressor in most business is more than the cost of the refrigerator. Unless it's a built in model

Perfect for my son's 2018 Ford Ecosport with the 2. L engine with the P0420 code. I already have both OEM O2 sensors and now I can test them using your video as a guide. I will have to change them anyway because the OEM catalytic converter is out of stock/back order. Hopefully there is a bad O2 sensor setting the code & not the catalytic converter. Found out the converter has to be California C. A. R. B. certified in NYS & those aftermarket converters are also on back order!

I work at a major home improvement store and the Milwaukee rep came in for the first time in years for a Milwaukee Day
I told him some of our local pros were pissed and will have questions. He asked for an example and I said where the Fk have you been and why is it so difficult to get support He said he didn't like the way I was speaking to him. I told him if he can't handle the way I speak to him he's gonna have a hard day with contractors.
He reported me to HR.

Eric O’I had an O2 performance issue. Replaced it with a Bosch O2 from the Bosch Store. Then I had a Heater code. Tested heater Ok at 10%, but at 20% failed. Checked the heater resistance and found 3 ohms! At 12v that would be about 4 amps! This overloaded the heater drive. Bought a different brand O2, and checked resistance cold. Measured 6 ohms for about 2 Amps. This worked fine no codes. From now on I will ohm out the heater before installing an O2 sensor.

I'm already a regular watcher and a big fan, and my son's college beater is a '09 accent nearly identical to this one (except yellow. I've been its main mechanic for about 4 years now and it's actually a solid little runner that's given us few problems. Lots of valuable information and seeing the whole brain box and other disassembly is always appreciated. I'll definitely be referring back to this video later. Great stuff!

I've bought Autel scantools for three of the shops I work with, and I swear not a week goes by that someone doesn't tell me how much they love it. I particularly like the remote login feature, so if they're having trouble with a car, I can just log in to their scantool from my laptop and poke at the car to see if I can give them some direction, or if I'll need to make the 1. 5 hour journey to go in depth into the diagnostic.

Me over here, a GM and Milwaukee fan boy, wondering why I watch Ericthen I remember just because someone has a different opinion or experience in life than you doesn’t mean they are the enemy and I can’t support them. I’ll give you GM can make some. questionable choices (currently have a 2. 4 ecotec for a commuter) but you’re wrong on Milwaukee. Over here working on my Equinox with my Milwaukee rock hard.

Just goes to show how experience picked out that no-start condition as a flooding issue, which leads a person to check fuel trims.
It seems like any time someone gets a code for something, they replace that sensor. Then if it does not fix it, since it is new, they know that's not the problem so they buy more parts. I have seen starters replaced because the anti-theft system was not satisfied.

My 1982 Yamaha RD350LC motorcycle had numerous hose clamps exactly like that! I always lost the tiny little washers, if I undid the clamp fully. I eventually learned not to fully undo the clamps if I could avoid it, but sometimes it was one too many turns, or you simply could not remove the hose with the clamp still attached, and then bye bye washer and much cursing. Hateful little things lol

I've got a question I have a 2007 Avalon limited that I just had the evaporator core replaced they had removed the complete dash but ever since they did that my automatic lighting for my headlights doesn't work anymore, everything was working prior to that does anyone have any information they can help me with I'm relatively decent at working on cars but I'm too old to do it anymore

The starter sound effects made me think of when I worked at a Ford dealership and was apprentice to a great mechanic and humanbeing. One day he was laughing so hard he could barely talk. He had just got off the phone with a lady that was a steady customer and she had told him that when she stepped on her brake pedal it sounded like someone farting under water!
