Been watching your videos for a couple of years now. This series will be helpful, little brothers 2000 Forester just started intermittently over heating. It is fine in the morning when the temp is air temp is cooler. In the afternoon, navigating the hills of Duluth MN, it will start overheating. The last set of HG were done 25k miles ago. The shop that did it said they used the turbo HG, It was suppose to be the FIX. Thanks for sharing your knowledge ( and the torque specs: )

Thank you so much for taking the time to put this series together! I followed along while I disassembled my 2002 Forester. Although I passed over the rebuilding of the heads because I had purchased heads to put on, everything went smoothly. What viewers need to understand is that you spent the time taping this series but we overlook the time you spent EDITING this series. Anyway, thank you so much. It was a great series and very well done.

Do you know why we would need to back off the bolts after torquing them down? I didn't have to back them off the headbolts on my 02 civic 1. 7 vtec or 99 buick century per the specs. And I cannot find any reason why we need to back bolts off. A lot of people say the bolts are not TTY and some say replace bolts all the time. Thank you so much for your reponse.

Hey Eric! Nice job, very thorough! Small tip for you. A rubber band will hold the head bolts in position for you. Set the bolt to the depth you want, twist a rubber band around the head of the bolt. Same at the other end, around any of the valve springs! There's, your third hand!

Hi Eric, I just did the same job on my 2010 Subaru Outback but the engine won't crank over. I labeled all sensors and can't figure out why it won't turn over. Of course I'm getting the Subaru CEL, brake light, etc, warnings. Not sure what to do. Any suggestions?

One thing wondered about is whilst you were putting the heads back on I do't see any tape etc blocking the intakes, maybe you did but I didn't see it. The other thing was the inside of the valve covers look pretty dirty. Any reason you didn't cleam them first?

It always worries me when I see a torque wrench being used because they are nearly always out of calibration? There is a good way to calibrate them shown on YouTube with a vice and a cheap digital luggage weigher from fleabay or amazon.

So I just finished watching all 5. I was going to pull my engine to replace head gaskets but I am now inspired to use your method. Thanks for the encouragement. For us novice mechanics, the detail you provide is great. Thank you!
