Replace Front Wheel Bearing - Toyota Corolla

I show you how I replaced a press in front wheel bearing on a 2007 Toyota Corolla. Please JT: I saw a neat trick the other day with a slide hammer you might want to try - put the end of your hammer up on your muffler stand or get someone to hold it - put the car up as high as possible- take something like a thin towel or leather strap and wrap it around your slide hammer weight - use something long enough that you have about an 18 inch tail on it - then put your back to the bearing and you basically sling the weight with the flexible handle handle you wrapped around it. it's like adding centrifical force to the weight - you get much more power from the weight. It surprised me. the guy I saw do it used a towel - wrapped it around the weight then twisted the ends of the towel so there was a good grip on the weight.

I am a master tech at Honda dealer.
I just use the grinder and punch the race out.
Easy. And I don't want to use the sliding hammer. It hurts my hands.
I use the hammer and the seal driver and just hammer out the hub.
Using the snap ring plier for the snap ring. used the screw drivers before. no more. I don't want to waste my time.
For the lazy guys use OTC hub grappler and a good snap on gun.
and I also got the bearing race splitter. neh, I don't want to use these. No need.

Thanks for the vid, but as a fellow mechanic I would suggest: OTC 6575 Hub Grappler Kit for on Vehicle Wheel Hub and Bearing Removal, this set will make removing and pressing a hub bearing a breeze. I absolutely detest that sliding hammer. The forcing screw on the set will make the job easy and you do not have to remove that knuckle neither. Since I had this set, I have never used my press again.

I'm 72 years old and have been in the trade for many a year. I now suffer from hearing loss, total loss in one ear and a hearing aid in the other. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE use hearing and eye protection on your videos. You, ll be happy when you hit your sixties and seventies that you did.

As a mechanic you will never ever get that bearing in perfectly seated in an even position. So your only option is to get the entire knuckle assembly with a already press wheel bearing. Trust me on that guys don't play with fire you are going to get burnt!

I know this video is 4 (plus) years old, but GREAT info with the hub removal via slide hammer as well as how to leverage the Hub Tamer. Mr. O, keep it up; yo. 're helping a lot of us out there with your tips and tricks.

My clutch is about toast so I'm debating putting a lot of effort or money into the car. This has me convinced that the correct course of action is to go till she blows and hope that's a paycheque or two from now

you went in heavy-handed on the circlip and gave yourself more work. tap gently with a small punch in each eye to free the eyes then with the circlip pliers and WD40 it will move. the mistake was the air hammer.
