I had to change the resistor, and solder in a new pigtail connector on my 05 chevy colorado, which should have been fixed in a recall, considering how many of these burn up the connector pin and the resistor. Luckily I looked this up and found out that there was a tsb for this problem and didn't have to chase the problem down. My next vehicle will probably be a Toyota or a hondu, even though growing up my gramps would get fired up if anyone in the family bought a foreign car, called them jap scrap, of course he was a w. w. 2 vet and a little prejudiced towards American built cars. I buy what lasts me the longest, and is well built, got this vehicle from a family member at a good price or I'd be in something with a better reputation. I have had pretty good luck with it over the last 6 years, this is the only thing besides brakes and tires I've had to deal with, but it was maintained properly before I got it, and that does help. I live in michigan, so I can appreciate your struggle with the rust monster. Thanks again Eric, for another great video, short or long, they are always good entertainment, and keep me up to date on the newer vehicles. You need to have your wife do another fix it video, you guys are pretty funny.

+South Main Auto Repair I had no burned connector, old resistor was stuck in 3rd setting on all commands. The black with white stripe going to the resistor is the ground feed and it had 34 Ohms of resistance, which I found to be off if its supposed to be a heavy ground supply. T-tapped a ground into the black with white stripe, soldered that for a good connection. All the settings work but then I noticed the new resistor would crap itself if the truck was turned on and running, in either of the top speed settings, even with the new ground. The blower motor would lose its ground feed at the motor from the resistor, with a new resistor! Parts are crap now days. Ordered up another one. Nothing else it could be that I can figure out at this point from my scanner readings.

WOW! -infernal computer controlled heater motor! =defies the KISS formula!
like computer controlled alternators =WHY?
-how is average mechanic gonna diagnose problems short of replacing EVERYTHING until problem found?
you are FAR BETTER than 90 % of mechanics I know-who keep changing unnecessary parts until
-recall in 1970s when Volvo among others (Mercedeze, etc) had 1st BOSCH fuel injection
-modules usually buried under drivers seat-and entire ECU had to be DEALER replaced
I discovered that ONE transistor was faulty since running (unsunk)at 3w-so replaced 5 w 2 transistor with 17 watt 4 item/unit
-so 10 PERMANENT REPAIR instead of 250 ECU replacement-that also soon failed again due to SAME BAD DESIGN

South Main Auto Repair. I just replaced my blower motor speed controller/resister/control moduel. Whatever the hell it's called. But my fan speed is still intermittent. Fan will cut out intermittently at all settings, a. c. /max a. c, heat, and at all speeds. It will cut out and about 40 seconds later come back on, sometimes for a while, sometimes only for a second. Any recommendations on where I should be looking next?
It's currently at ford and they tried replacing the module that communicates from the a. c. to the nav system and that didn't work. They said they're going to try putting it back to stock to see if it still does it but I don't have much faith in them to fix the issue.

I had today off and I thought take a ride and see if I could visit EricO. so I headed out to SMA from E. A. New York and then about and hour and 45 min later I arrived at SMA and was greeted by Mrs O. and introduced me to The Man. Him and I talked for a little while about some mechanic stuff witch was pretty basic. because for me I am a carpenter(by profession) and a DYI mechanic and the I have to pay someone to fix my vehicles if it out of realm of capabilities. Anyways the point of this comment is to say Thank you Mr and Mrs O for being so nice and thanks for SMA swag. Also thank you for taking the time. You two are awesome!

My comment vanished. I was talking about how I had a f150 same year with a blower stuck on the 3rd setting. Changed the resistor when the PWM signal was good and responsive. It acted right for 30 min then would shut off and turn back on a minute later on the two high settings. I checked the blower found the ground missing then i checked the black with white stripe feed to the resistor and it had 36 ohms of resistance, which seemed quite high. T tapped a new ground in to it only to find I had a bad resistor out of the box. Ordered a new one, that wont have to deal with the ground problem now.

My 04 grand Prix blower motor run turn on by its self when cars off. After I get back from a drive. the car will be shut off for 15 min the blower motor will turn on run for 5 min than shut off and not go back on tell I repeat the process. I have a new blower motor and control processor acdelco brand. it had this problem before and after I replaced those parts. Shops around my town can't figure out the problem!

Correct me if I am wrong, Heaven forbid. Did you already pre-diagnose for what the fault was before showing us how to diagnose it or did you just GUESS what the problem was and then diagnose it while doing the video. If you diagnosed it prior to doing the video, then you could not miss being wrong. No disrespect intended, Just curious.

On the Chevy TrailBlazer, they melt the harness and fry. I had to replace mine twice. Its pretty much a given on GM vehicles that it is replaced. Thank god the prices went down on them. Oh, you have a choice on where to get them. OEM comes from Canada, after market says Mexico. They are prone for going bad after a while. Ford, no idea.

Hello Eric! This is my first comment to SMA. I can't tell you how informative your videos are to an amateur like myself. I wanted to ask if you have come across any/many cases of lower intake manifold gasket failures on SBC/350's and the symptoms /diagnosis you followed. Thanks again.
