I've got to get cat work done on my Jeep GC, throwing a code. at least now I'll be a little better informed female consumer. I hate getting ripped off. I've been told before that mechanics can't weld in on cats. Maybe that's true in California, but I will find out BEFORE I take the Jeep in! I've been told a lot of B'S on cat work by shops I'm pretty sure especially on my (low mileage) 2000 F Bird Formula. I feel like they get out the register and start ringing things up when they see me pulling in! Thanks for your videos, they help me ask the right questions.

great video's you keep saying you can do it too? not in some cases do not have the high costs diagnostic tools you have. Here is something simple that worked for me years back cheap tool vacuum gauge seems to be a forgotten tool, just hook it up and in an instant you can tell how healthy the valve trane is and also if a blocked exhaust in an instant as instead of dropping from 18/20 lbs to zero it will climb indicating a blocked cat converter keep those video's coming

Nice touch on the removable clamp! Un like the numb nut that cut my cat off on my nicely preserved 1990 Nissan Maxima exhaust system before I purchased it! Had to put a front down pipe on it had cut the flange off a new part and clamp because that dumb shit welded it up solid! Looking for a affordable aftermarket bolt on exhaust! If you ever seen a front down pipe for a maxima the flow on it is sorriest I've never seen! Great job again!

I once cut a cat out with a torch, and while I was patting myself on the back for doing such a great job (access was poor, another guy in the shop said, Hey! Your car's on fire!
I replied, Nah, I just cut the cat out.
He said, You'd better look inside!
I let the car down, and, sure enough, the carpet was blazing away, setting fire to the seats! We got a hose in there and saved [most of] the car, but we lost a customer.

I noticed no O2 bung on the converter? Was one down stream on the pipe? If not if you do not have emissions testing why not str8 pipe it or gut the old one? I know big brother does not like that but would have saved even more thats the route Ive taken on my older truck and welded recesses to keep the 02 out of the stream to fool the ECM once in a blue moon it lights the engine light and I do a reset.

i have the same car, i need a carb cat but my question is i had swapped out the ecm before i thought i needed it, i still have the original but the milage is different from when i took out the original, do i have to reprogram the original with the correct milage or is the milage stored somewhere else, was thinking of putting the original back in cause i believe the replacement is actually faulty

Im not a mechanic but like working on my own vesicles, mainly to keep my self from getting screwed. Like this lady buying a new computer. Watching these videos help me diagnose problems, so when I do take it to the shop they dont take me to the cleaners. Mechanic like you are very hard to fine. FYI stay away from firestone and mr. tire.

That garage _it needs a new computer blah blah. _, what a bunch of cowboys.
And it would not have made one iota of difference, still needed new cat etc.
Hope the lady appreciates the experience, knowledge, effort, resources and skill (that only EricOSMA could have provided) to get her old Buick back up and running!

I luv watching his videos. How many honest technicians are there left that don't try and up sell everything. I don't see how he can weld without protection on his arms. Mine would burn the crap out of me.
