I am working on a 2012 ford Focus with under 30k miles on it and it has a failed A/C compressor clutch bearing. The entire kit is available from Ford for a reasonable price. Let's see how it fits!

I have a similair car that are buiit on ford focus chassies. Have a similair A/C compressor.
im regapping my clutch right now. My compressor has stopped engaging.
Gap now is 0. 8-0. 9mm and the specs from dealer instructions are 0. 4-0. 8mm
Only had one shim and its 1. 35mm. So its too thick. I want to lower to half it size at least.
Had a 8mm centre bolt M5 but my shim is M6. OD=12. 3mm ID=6. 4mm
I dont know if my magnetic coil is OK though. Are there any way of checking this? can i check it with ohm meter or something?
AC fuse is ok and also the AC realy. I can activate the relay trough my scantool. Scantool does also see when i push the AC onoff button and commands the relay. i can hear it click.
The engine rpm rises a little also.
Magnetic clutch from dealer to my car costs 330 euro: ) and thats only for the part. plus dealer work. and i think it will be end like 450 euro.
But you made it look so easy to replace. Might need a puller tool. If the bearing is stuck on the shaft. and the coil.
Are there any good aftermarket clutches? ive seen clutches in deutchland for about 70 euro.

My 2014 Focus is leaking some ac compressor fluid, greenish and AC still cold. How many miles until it's not cold? Is it ok to keep using hte AC until it's not cold, will anything be messed up if I keep using it while it's leaking.

Great job Eric, keep up the good work.
I live in Florida and have a 2013 Focus with 53k on it. man I don't miss the rust belt. grew up in Michigan. My '13 is SO much cleaner than that car with more than twice as many miles.

I follow a few Ford groups and they said to replace the whole compressor. But my ac works fine. Just has a bad chatter when its on. And did you have to re fill the ac after installing those parts?

You know what I love? cursing at stuff when fixing a car doesnt change no matter if youre a pro or a beginner. Its just usually a lot worse and a a lot more often when you are the latter.

i totally agree bro, i have a 2013, ford told me with mine i have to buy the whole compressor and can not change just the barring, ford is becoming pathetic if you ask me

My outer clutch plate (the one with the three bars on the outside) doesn't engage. I have everything plugged in and the AC turned on. any thoughts as to what this might be?

Unfortunately these compressors are common to leak around front seal and side of compressor and you need to replace compressor. good video if it just has a noisy bearing

2: 23 my Haynes manual makes no mention of the magic finger gesture being necessary to remove the liner. Must be some dealer TSB issued not available to the public
