! ATTENTION RECKLESS MISTAKE WAS MADE IN THIS VIDEO!
Just had to stop the video and write this, at 33: 29 you wore gloveS while fingering the drill bit. This is an abslote sin. Without glove this sin isnt dangerous at all but with glove. If the fabric catches your finger will follows then hand, arm, and you will yearn for drive belt slippage while frantically reaching for the power switch wishing you used bit without flats and set chuck firm instead of ultra tight.

Eric, not sure if your friend realizes that hitches with large offsets from frame centerline put a big torque moment on the vehicle frame. So hitch may be built like a CAT but too much trailer weight and rough driving could modify his Toyota frame as he drives. Prob best to keep gross trailer wt under 1000 lbs. best thing would be to modify trailer so drawbar height is at pull centerline.

WAY over built, though I can't says I blame ya. Reminds me of when I made hitches/receivers for the grounds crew that used 1200 and 1445 series LD John Deere tractors to pull their small trailers around with. When asked why I built them the way I did, my answer was 'Because people tend to break things, but it won't be this. '

i just read all the naysayers about legal issues one thing prove he made it but also as a certified weld i would never use wire on any heavy stuff have repaired way to many pretty wire welds that were crap i, m old school ilike stick but you did good enough job fir its entended purpose when he sells it next guy can worry

Nice job. Keep your magnets clean by putting them into a zip-lock bag. Remove the bag and all the metal goes into the garbage along with the bag. Alternately you could also cover it with tape instead if the bag get any pinholes, etc.

Flip the table on the drill, 90 and clamp on the box section, slide the rule in the square to 2-1/2 to find your center, and don't wear gloves while using rotating machinery, and lastly clean that pillar drill after use

You did my ego a lot of good, Eric. Your a great mechanic and make me look like a fool but at least I consider myself a better machinist. Of course I've been doing it as my job 3 years.

One thing I learned in a welding class is that when welding a vertical surface always weld bottom to top. I guess its not as strong as welding from top to bottom. Just a heads up!

I'm surprised you did not notch the flat plate to the size of the tubing to give it more strength than to rely on just the weld.
