Just replaced the blue water on the Hondew with 195k. Replaced the fan motors about 175k. One of the fan motors had died about 150k but I didn't notice until the second went out. Similar maddening process but a but easier than the Nissan. Napper had the best price on blue antifreeze. Napper didnt have enough qts of the zerex blue so the substituted the more expensive German blue coolant. Napper did me proud.

most cooling fan failures are just simply the carbon brushes in the motor are worn out and it no longer operates, worn motor bearings if it has sleeve bearings, or the electronics if the unit has a brushless dc motor as most vehicles are coming with to vary speed. as most vehicles they use a permant magnet DC brushed motor. some have two or 3 fans depending on the vehicle.

Ahhh and yet again, my 2000 grand Prix with 284, 000 miles has the original yes the original cooling fans and they both work on hi and low speeds. And you do not have to drain the radiator to change them.
I did change out the original radiator at 253, 000 miles. very easy to do!

Eric,
Great video - thank you! Dont these fans usually come out the bottom without having to remove much? BTW Ivan would have taken it apart and removed the baseball card and clothes pin: )

this was great - seeing how the fan motors work with that pico really made me think. so when i replace the fans now over 100k get brand new ones because they run smooth.

Just looked on your Facebook page and saw the 2015 Ford Explorer with the blown rear A/C lines and the entire rear end of the vehicle removed. Please tell me you made a video of that!

I have Asian Blue in my Subaru Forester and the Dealer is telling me that it's good for 100, 000 miles?
What do you think about that? And is it better than the Pink Dexcool?

If you unbolt the fan from the motor you'll probably find a piece of broken plastic under there. All that was really needed was a plastic fan, not a new motor assembly.
