I have a look at a 2000 Ram 1500 5. 9L that was already at another shop and they billed the customer 325 and never fixed it! I don't know about you but I'd be a little upset

I have an old 91 Sentra. 1. 6 loaded no power seats or windows. A/C I PUT A REBUILT CLUTCH. IT WORKS. MY FRIEND MECHANIC OVER FILLED THE COMPRESDOR BLEW THE POPOFF VALVE. I connected to the other wire by passing it. now my compressor stays on awhile. I MUST GET MORE FREON. THE LITTLE PART ON DASH MUST BE SUN OR TEMP RELATED. SO. I must operate it manually until I find out what it is. nothing in book or diagram. need to double check book. black in color w red clear plastic on top looks like LEDs in it but dont know. I PULLED ON IT THUS THE WIRE CAME OUT. IT IS THE MYSTERY PART. JAPAN MADE. GREAT CAR. 5 SPEED XE MODEL B13. The moral of the story is; If they say Free Diagnostic. Drive right by. There is nothing free in car repair.
If they are not charging for the Tech's time, he isn't a real Tech. Simple as that. He is a parts fitter. They are going to suck you in and make up his wages on parts that you may not need.
You don't believe me? Go back and look at that fuse board. Seriously? This is basics.
So pleased Eric does these videos because it shows up so much that is wrong with the industry.
Techs aren't valued, the big bosses think they don't need them because the code reader tells them everything and they can just employ part fitters.
So they think anyway.
Hopefully Mr. O has just found another loyal customer.

Problem is finding people such as yourself to do some of the diagnosis that us regulars can't do. However you always show how to do it with common tools. Wish I had my truck in with you to diagnose two bad fuel injectors. After 5 hours and two rounds of carbon cleaning (which I don't believe the truck needed it, they determined the fuel injectors. Now I just sit and wait for them to come in due to a national backorder. A part like that should be brought to the front line to be made as it can cause drivability issues. And yes I am going after GM for not covering the fuel system knowing they have bad injectors.

Well, first and for most, One auto shop is not going to say: You can get a better job done at this so-n-so shop So naturally you are going to talk shit about one of your competitors.
In my experience, ( and ill speak for myself, It has been, You can have a room full of: Expert Mechanics and none of them will agree on anything at all. Period.
While I would agree that some shops make more mistakes then others. And then there are folks like you that are braggarts and make the entire industry look bad.
Just shut up. Do your job. Be glad you are employed, And keep your nasty opinions to your damn self dude.

Always change the computer first. Start with the most expensive item.
Nothing like having more stuff break while youre working on it.
Ever since you worked on my starter, my ( pick the item ) doesnt work anymore. One of the main things I learned in high school auto shop that showed me quite clearly that was one of the last things I wanted to do for a living.
That and a few jobs ( especially relatives cars ) where it cost ME a lot of money to fix their car.

I have a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500, about a year ago I was getting random misfire P0300 codes, I replaced all spark plugs (found 1 bike in half) and coil packs, problem continued. I then replaced the fuel pump and the problem went away. I am now having the same problem once again, after start the vehicle hesitates to go until I throw in neutral and hit gas pedal a few times. Do you have any insight on this issue?

My PT cruiser used to do that same thing. Throw a bunch of lights and codes, would not shift, idle like crap, drive and run like crap. Replaced my ECU, problem solved. But now it does the same things intermittently again once in a while. Luckily i've got a new car so no more PT cruiser junk for me xD

I'm only 8 minutes in and realized this happened to my 2001 Dodge Ram. There was a wire in the stearing column that was to short from the factory. So the mech. had to extend the wire. I think it was pulling or pinching when you tilt the wheel. Hope this helps any old school Ram owners. B. K.

You're a pretty good service technician brother. I do HVAC install/service and it's always good to see someone doing the right thing instead of half-assing it. There's a lot of clowns out there! I like working on my own vehicles so I will be subscribing to you for future reference/knowledge.

Eric you're awesome
Really it happens quite often these day's, that the customer has been ripped off by another shop & then they come thinking that everything will be fixed for free at-least people should think that even a doctor won't diagnose you for free
