The Legacy GT in your lot looks just like mine, except a lot more stock and probably more rusty.
Years ago, I used to work for the state motor pool and worked on a lot of state police cars. Back then, they still used Crown Vics as the primary police car. At least once a month, even more in the summer, a police car would come in with a complaint like Check Engine light on, engine running rough, or AC not working after a traffic stop. In pretty much every case, it was because the cooling fan didn't work. Oddly, they almost never complained that the temp gauge was so far past the H that it was almost back to the C. Side note: the rough running complaint was caused by Ford's overheat strategy to shut down every other cylinder and even alternate which cylinders fire in an attempt to air cool the engine. Seems to work decently well on the V8 modular engines, not so much on the others. They also set codes and turn on the check engine light when the engine temperature gets to high and a separate code when they shut down cylinders.

My Crown Vic had the same problem. twice within a week. First time was bad fan motor. Second time was bad module. Replaced both with junkyard OEM parts, all good now. For shts and giggles, I checked parts and labor prices at the dealer. IIRC, the module was 600 by itself. It was a 1, 000 job. Your customer is lucky to have you, the dealer would have raked her over the coals.

What do you think about solder coating each wire, then crimping the spade terminal onto the soldered wire? My impression is this will give a better, corrosion free connection. For even better results, the spade can be soldered onto the wire, then crimped. That is what I generally do with any non-house-internal connection.

I remember my mother killed our car. It overheated, was billowing steam. Got home with it that way. Heads were warped. When my dad asked her what she was thinking driving home like that. Her response (indignantly) was What was I supposed to do, stop on the side of the road. UM YES.

I like your attention to detail with the dielectric grease, fluid film etc. Would completely trust you with my old Honda. Though in that situation I would use a Deutsch connector, dunno if you keep them around the shop but be perfect for those kind of repairs.

Eric you just helped me diagnose the same exact issue on my '07 Town Car without having to spend a dime on diagnosis. I was about to buy an entire new fan until I watched your video and went outside to jiggle the connector. You're a Godsend, dude. Thank you.

I lost coolant just after the belt came off on a Taurus, when a tensioner pulley bearing went out. There was no water pump till the belt went back on.
Bad for the engine. Remember when cars ran dual v belts to ps and alternators?
