I have a look at a Saturn Aura XR that is having issues with the security alarm. Every time you open a door the alarm goes off regardless if you armed the vehicle or not. I bring you through my entire thought process from start to finish

Another enjoyable video from South Main Auto Repair! I especially liked following your logic process to find the fault. You are a very talented young man, not only in your diagnostic skills, but also in your ability to communicate complex ideas and systems. Loved it when you HAD to open up the switch to see what was wrong with it. Out here in the sticks in Wisconsin, sometimes just to get the vehicle going enough to get into town and get a new part we also have to actually fix what is wrong before we can replace it.
I'll mention this although you probably already know about the healing properties of silicone dielectric grease. Well, it doesn't really heal, but many times it will make a contact work well enough to get by until it can be replaced. I religiously put it on every terminal and contact I see to ward off corrosion as long as possible.
I ran a service station back in the early 70's when I was first married. My wife was, and is, an indispensable part of my life and my business, just like yours. You are a lucky man.

The final solution is great BUT how you get there is the key. A few days ago I went to different stores in my 2002 Ford Ranger. Everything was fine until my last stop. I came out and bang NOTHING. Totally dead. I'm sitting there and thinking what the Heck. No crank. I then thought something else is going on. No NOTHING! total electrical failure. Did someone steal my battery? I Popped the hood and the battery was there. Now to diagnose the problem. #1 Battery, CHECK. #2 Battery cables, Check. #3 Battery cables tight, BINGO! Obviously it was a combination of loose positive cable and corrosion. Out comes my Gerber Multi tool (Not a Sponsor. Scrape the terminal and tighten. Key in, Fired right up. Age old solution when you don't know where to start. Start from the beginning.

Love the process especially on the electrical stuff. Your videos were recommended on my feed and I started watching and learning and boom 6 month down the road wife's car starts having intermittent electrical issues and thanks to your videos and the stuff I learned from them I was able to come up with a game plan and figure it out. it's was a completely undocumented problem google was not help and if it wasn't for watching you go through the process no way I would have figured it out. Never been super skilled on the electrical side of things

So far I've gone back 3 years watching all your videos and the only one that didn't impress me was the one on evaluating that one scan tool. I'd have to check back again to tell you which one it was. Brake jobs put me to sleep because unless something is really screwed up, they're all the same. Don't change a thing and you'll keep me watching. Incidentally, your sharing of your family events adds a lot of warmth to your videos, like the weekend at Letchmont State Park. It shows how much family means to you.

I would rather have the car stolen than have to try to understand that mumbo jumbo that explains how that security system works. I suppose it gets down to providing service to a customer. However, some might argue that you could open yourself to liability if the car or it's contents are stolen when you have worked on the system previously At that point you may wish you had pointed the customer to a dealer to repair and assume the liability. Just say'n.

I rented a Saturn Aura XR once, that thing was fast for what it was, I accidentally did a couple of small burnouts in it without even trying. Overall not a bad little car (at the time. You could probably find that switch at the junkyard cheap and this would be a pretty easy and inexpensive fix.

I am a huge fan of this style video as it greatly separates you from commercial crap. Same goes for Pine Hollow Diagnostics. Mrs. O appearances are great
as well as the break clean thing. I have never fast forwarded any of your vids. However its time for another case study with Ivan

At 18: 57 I think I figured it out because my family has a 2007 Saturn Aura XR midnight blue paint. When I press the lock button on the door it arms the security system. With that gadget I think its the door lock that malfunctioned.
