Say it's not so! Another SMA brake job! You'll love'em or hate but either way here goes another. Mark: Could someone please help me with my Toyota sienna 2010, I had to drop the sub frame to fix a transfer case leak and replace some bushings. Well i got the car back together and now one of the power sliding doors latch motor does not even make a sound, I don't know what the crap is wrong with it i have tested it multiple times motor makes a sound when i used a battery to test it, While there is no power in the connector i have been trying to figure this out for hours and i mean hours if anyone could help that would be great. I have checked all the grounds that i touched and checked all the wires and they seem fine.

As an ASE certified master tech with a degree in automotive technology, 15 years of experience and hundreds if not thousands of brake jobs under my belt, I don't open the brake bleeders to push back the pistons. I've never had an issue with ABS units or anything after pushing the pistons back into the caliper, and as you said, that is how most (if not all, Mercedes with their SBC brake system may be the only exception) say to do it. If you have physical junk and debris in the brake system, that is a big problem in and of itself. Don't let the arm chair mechanics in the Youtube peanut gallery tell you otherwise.

Eric, I have to splice a new connector for a secondary pump on a 2004 Cadillac Northstar ( Shit wagon). The original pump and connector melted due to a short I guess. What is a good splice connector? I remember you say when you were young you used a brand that was No good and all the repairs you made using them eventually failed and you had to use another brand. I need the splice to be water proof and using a shrink. What would you suggest for splicing a new connector? Flux and shrink or connectors and shrink? Thank you.

Love the videos, Eric. Good information, great personality, and easy to follow. I also love the tool tips - love seeing gear in action prior to dropping cash since I'm just a weekend garage monkey.
That said, a little tip from me to you on utility knives - do yourself a favor and grab a Milwaukee Fastback instead of that two-handed unit you always use. They are fantastic - easy to open, easy to close, all one-handed, and I always feel confident it did what I wanted it to do.

Eric,
I see you do not let the fluid film spray dry up before you put the disc on. I've never used the stuff here in mn, but based on your show am trying it now.
I'm concerned with the amount of ffilm put on. that it will get slung out and contaminate the back face of the disc. Is this a non issue, or a concern to control?

I have worked on Subaru's for years. My brother asks to check his 2004 Legacy 2. 5. non turbo. I was getting ready to replace the PCV valve. Hmmm. Where have they hidden it. I am going to breakout the bore scope camera It is not any where the diagrams say it is, weird.

A sheep joke I used to tell my kids: a cow goes up to a sheep and says mooo-ve over - the sheep replies: baaa-llocks.
They used to repeat it when we were out driving past a field with cows and sheep in, their Mom used to go up the wall. She gave up in the end!

I loath wannabe mechanics that are always giving everyone unsolicited (read: unwanted and mostly inaccurate) 'advise'. These are usually the same caliber of people who follow you into the bay and try to look over your shoulder until you shoo them out.

I have a 08 Highlander changed brakes and rotors months ago and now I have a clunk every time I go in reverse. Not sure if it's because of after market rotors( 1a auto) or brake pads ( 1a auto). Followed same procedure as this video.

Eric I have been watching you for 4 years now and it is a stress relief just watching you work. It gets my mind off of turning my own wrench and just kick back and relax and enjoy. You are an inspiration to future techs. Stay safe
