Chevy Truck: No 4x4 Needs Transfer Case Split? What? David: A while back you Mr. O made a statement that in your opinion the particular test tool. the jury was still out. Knowledge of it's capabilities is paramount. Your humble manner in your knowledge is what keeps your subs.
The various light bulbs that you utilize offer a finality that a tester does not.
A keen observer should note that not only is service data questionable. Some tools do not offer a sense of comfort.
I trouble shoot electrical systems and you can bet your ice cream cone that I need to be 100% correct. The same as you Sir. Thanks for the insight.

OK you asked for a question! I am not questioning you or your working knowledge! But back in my day my employer who I had and still have all my respect for. would not except any excuses for not using fender covers! Now that was not only to protect the automobile but to protect all of us from automobile! (Chicago rusty cars) But I have noted that you and shops I have had work done don't use them anymore! And good shops like yours I would expect would. What changed?

Can anyone tell me why it was a bad move to put dielectric grease in the connector (at 9: 20 in the video? I have a tube of the stuff and figured that if I ever need to remove a connector that is exposed to the elements I would just throw a blob of the stuff in there as a preventative measure. Was he just saying that putting the grease in was a shot in the dark attempt to fix it, or was he saying it's bad to put the grease in connectors as a general rule?

As someone who takes my 2017 Chevy to the dealer frequently (warranty almost gone) I am thankful the world has legends like yourself with the knowledge to fix these issues. Love the videos and appreciate someone who can show off their problem solving skills on camera. Respect, a 2017 Silverado owner with a busted tail light and who knows what else! I m across the country from you but I d move in the blink of an eye if I could!

I can think of two ways it could have failed:
- Motor partially shorted, overloaded the mosfet, mosfet fried short, motor burned open.
- Mosfet failed short, burned the motor that failed open.
I'm tempted to say the real one is the second one. There is normally in car stuff some protections, that should have kicked in and prevented the mosfet from burning.

You, Wes, & the Rainman are some of the few good mechanics left!
These days, at most places it's all about firing the ole parts cannon & hope for the bestest, because the scan tool said it was faulty. Too many places have forgot how to do some ole fashioned trouble shooting to figure out WHY scan tool said part was inoperable, EVEN after they tried replacing it!

And it would cost the general how many rubles to include a gasket and o rings? The Chinese junk you sometimes have to buy often includes them. Wouldn't it show on their (GM) part a commitment to help the tech do the job right? It's nice that after you (the customer) have misfired the parts cannon, you finally get to use it up a part gathering dust. . Good video

Sweet! Thanks for sharing! I work with a guy worked at the place the wrote the tech problem troubleshooting guide. He said his bosses were non-technicians from all walks of life to translate to the techs what normal people mean by chug chug putt putt. He was fired for being a smart A. He is a smart A but he is one of the best electronic technicians I worked with.

I have an intermittent check engine light for a P0026 and P0028 code on an 05 Subaru Outback. I am more than likely moving pretty close to you in the next year, and I cannot wait to have Eric O finally fix what most other shops can't, as well as myself. Ha!
05 Outback with 215k on the engine and looks brand new underneath. Good old Colorado car!

I had new parts in my truck in their original boxes for a different problem, I had service done on my truck for another problem, I was out of town, when I got it home to do the other service, those d s at the other garage had stolen my stuff and I had to buy more, couldn't prove they'd done it, so the switch could have had the same end.
