Cadillac ATS 2. 5 Luxury: Engine Replacement - Part III Troy: I came very close to flipping a Blown Prostreet 1970 'cuda off a lift a few years ago. It was late and I completely spaced on how front heavy it would be once I dropped the Dana 60 out. I'm glad there was another guy with me. The rear end was on the transmission jack so he had to run and get a stand while I hung off the rear bumper. Since then I ratchet strap ones I wonder about to the lift arms.

Non rust belt cars are awesome. My family is primarily from eastern upstate NY but my parents moved us to Mooresville NC area in the late 70s. My cousin that was also a tech in NY would fly down for vacation every winter and buy 2 mid 80s pickup trucks. Then rent a tow dolly and drive them back to NY and sell them. Always made enough profit to pay for flight and expenses and spending money while on vacation. Trucks in NC were a dime a dozen and sold for mint in NY. Easy to make 2-3 grand or more each truck. Had a couple friends that bought car carrier 5th wheel trailers and bought southern vehicles and transported them up north. Had a few used car lots they would take orders from and find and deliver what they wanted most. Plenty of cheap late 60s muscle cars went north this way. 67-70 Camaros could be bought for 4-5 grand and sell for 3-4 times that up north.

that procedure is ridiculous, what a modern day car mechanic has to go through just to change a motor!
CAN YOU IMAGINE BEING A MECHANIC AT THE DEALERSHIP ON FLAT - RATE TRYING TO FEED & SUPPORT YOUR FAMILY
WORKING ON CRAP LIKE THAT DAY IN & DAY OUT? ( FORGET - ABOUT - IT! )
forget that nonsense, that's why I work on antiques & classic's, the engineers built them to be worked on!
OBVIOUSLY COMMON SENSE ON GM 'S PART ( WASN'T TO COMMON )!
GOOD - NIGHT - NURSE!

I am really enjoying the series. Mrs O looks really hot in the jeans and tee shirt and it shows the love and trust that Eric has for her that he would lay under a vehicle while she is lowering it towards him. (Either that or he doesn't have a big enough life insurance for her to collect. Lol)
Great video Eric. Lovely to see you Mrs O. xx

I'm glad it's you doing this job and not me. For one I don't have a lift and I don't see this job getting done without one.
Secondly, You could have pulled 20 Volkswagen engines and 10 Chevy 350'S in the amount of time it took to pull that one Cadilac engine. But I must say that is one clean car for it to need an engine.

Can't wait to get back this evening, kick back and enjoy the rest of the evening with Eric O. and an Engine replacement.
Thanks for the entertainment and time you spend in filming and editing this for us to enjoy.

Is anyone else reminded of departed comedian Sam Kinison's signature exclamation oooooOOOOOOooooo! when Eric blips the air ratchet? Not the mini ratchet but the old school slower one. No? Ok it's just me then.

That reminds me a lot of the Pontiac Fiero engine/transaxle removal. Doesn't make sense that is has to be so difficult without the transverse engine position and rear wheel drive, but it is what it is!

Just asking, remove rad, condenser, front clip, hood and cherry pick the engine out the front end leaving the transmission in the car, looks to me it s going to be a shoe horn fit for new engine going back in

Buy a lift table from Harbour Freight, 369 bucks, it makes it so much easier, I ve got a Fiat engine/gearbox on one at the moment, and when not in use it s a handy mobile workbench, Best Buy very handy

Awsome video! But wow, looks like a major pain in the Ass! I just replaced my wife jeep 4 door jk engine, and that was gravy compared to this! I would have told them you have to take it to another shop
reply

Mrs O gave you the green light for a lift table. What are you waiting for LOL. Seriously, it would probably make you more profitable if you had it and of course safety would be leaps and bounds better.

Hey little girlie, in the blue jeans so tight
Drivin' alone through the Wisconsin night
You're my last love, baby, you're my last chance
Don't let 'em take me to the Cadillac ranch

Kids don't try this at home. You're a fricken animal. This would certainly separate the men from the boys. That's downright ugly. Look at the brain on Mr. O. That is Open Soul Surgery!
reply

the car Ninja made a short recently saying it was the best investment he had made buying a lift table but then he does take out a lot of engine and gearboxes' with the cars he works on
