Buick Enclave - The Diagnosis & The Estimate When I was in the shop as the a mechanic! When people started with money or my favorite, it only took a few minutes. My comeback was that you pay me for what I know, not how dirty I get or how much I do. Now I did go by the book for job hours. And truth be told, most of the time, the people who would complain usually worked on it first and couldn't repair the problem and should have been charged double because as we all know! you have to fix what they broke first.

Hey Eric
Long time viewer here from England and this is one of my favourite so far as not only does it show off your excellence in well thought through diagnostic.
But it shows the other side of what most customers only see. the invoice.
Absolutely nothing wrong with any of your prices or rates etc.
Love the clearness of the invoice.
Sod the haters in the comments, those People forget that you can source stuff cheap on the internet, but they forget you'll be waiting for it to arrive and that vehicle will be taking up space and time. And if it's wrong you'll be waiting again for the correct part.
Your local supplier may be dearer but the customer service they offer you is what you're paying for.
Keep the video's coming and a few more estimates or invoices please.
Kind regards
Chesh

21: 12 As I found out with my 2008 Buick LaCrosse.
Loved the car but everytime I went to the dealer, it was a 300 bill or more. It all added up to constantly fixing things.
I don't do any of my maintenance anymore because of my bad back. But it cost over 100 just to change the front headlight because the battery, battery hold down, frame cross tie, and front bumper have to be removed to access the headlamp.
The kicker was an estimate for 1900 to replace the cat and two o2 sensors. Can't get away by removing the cat, can't use a cheap cat because it has to meet California regs.
So sold the car and will never buy another American brand vehicle.

When I was first in business fixing RVs and mobile homes, I had a lot of people asking me to justify my hourly rate.
They didn't want to hear that they were paying for experience or that I have bills to pay or that I'm in business to make a profit.
Eventually, I just told them that if they didn't like it, that they didn't have to have me work on their units and they were free to look for someone else to do the job.
After that, I never heard anything more about justifying costs!
Apparently, there wasn't anyone else competent enough to do that kind of work.

As I was watching I kept getting the feeling, that this was going to reflect a 'Just Rolled In' or 'Mechanical Nightmares' vibe. But with some added twists: I wonder who removed and failed to replace the horn fuse? Dealership? Neighbor? Family member? That 'aftermarket' red wire, is also a cliffhanger. What was up with that? On a side note, I own a 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE (5. 3L, reg cab/short bed, 4wd. Ordered it in spring 2017, took deliver in August 2017. Haven't had any problems with it. Yet. Although, it does have a few 'quirks' that I live with.

The honk can be turned on and off when you lock the doors. I always turned mine off because I find it absolutely ridiculous that people are honking their horns every damn time they lock and unlock their doors. Imagine this woman is COMPLAINING that she cant wake up the neighborhood when she unlocks her car. How awful. You can hear it lock and unlock. you dont need to tell everyone within a quarter mile you are locking and unlocking your doors.

I'm filled with emotion. I guess I would have been a little more of an As# Ho%e I wouldn't show the viewing public my quotes or prices, who gives a rats as what they/we think. Your shop your prices - Too high, go some place else. What was wrong with the beautiful Mrs. O Acne day? My poor wife has had multiple strokes and now tends to run into objects and gives herself black eyes.

For some of that stuff I wonder if it's a local reporter is checking garage integrity. Other shops may have said You need an expensive clockspring to fix the horn. The no-start is because you need a new starter. . SMAR legit diagnosed the problems as a fuse and fob, ODM, turn signal bearing etc. BTW, what happened to Mrs. O's face? :)

I've been watching you for over a year now and find it interesting how you work. That is a combo of new and old school technique. One question I but I do not know if toy answer questions is what is the largest vehicle you work on? Do you work on trucks like 1 ton cargo trucks? Carry on.

I just bought a timing kit for my 4runner off of flee bay and they were all in toyota parts boxes but the pulley was too small and not the correct part but the box said it was. so you might get a good deal once and a while but this time i was not lucky.

If she tried to cut down on cost--- would you have possibly got that connector from your parts yard and just spliced it in? Maybe saved a little from not buying the harness? I'm just curious if that would have been an option?

Some people dont recognize the convenience of having the horn chirp when the car is locked remotely, out of sight, and from a distance. And of course this feature can be turned on or off depending on the owners choice.

strange the fuse, still unblown, was sitting in the fusebox still in the removal tool - was there any indication of why when you talked with the customer or was she laughing too hard to get an answer?

If you ever got some heavy busload - and no clues where it comes from - on these vehicles, it could be this module. We got this failure on some Opel/Vauxhall Insignias in Germany. Just FYI.

I m convinced drivers up north should have a decontamination system in their garage so every time they pull back inside the vehicle gets cleaned and protection reapplied.
