Sell your car for free with Carwow: It’s time for a little vs large showdown! Mat’s brought along his own Suzuki Jimny, and it’s about to go head-to-head over the quarter-mile against an absolutely huge Hummer H2! So let’s see how the two compare. Starting with the Jimny, it’s powered by a 1. 5-litre naturally-aspirated 4-cylinder that can produce 101hp and 130Nm of torque. This power is sent to the rear wheels only by a 5-speed manual gearbox, and it tips the scales at 1, 135kg. As new, it cost just 22, 000. Then we come to the Hummer. The H2 is powered by a 6. 2-litre naturally-aspirated V8 that can put down 398hp and 563Nm. All this power is sent to all four wheels via a 6-speed automatic gearbox, and it tips the scales at a colossal 2, 850kg! When new, the Hummer H2 cost from around 45, 000. So the Hummer is well up on power, but it’s SO much heavier! Will this weight difference prove decisive There’s only one way to find out for sure LET’S RACE! Thanks to BACKFIRE-MEDIA for joining us with their Hummer!

Jimny is pure diamond as a SUV. It is available in Indian market and I have seen few. Unfortunately we Indians only care for the big size, so people buy bigger but not compatible SUV from brands like KIA, MG, Hyundai etc which are not true SUV like Jimny at all.
But what Jimny offers is the small size to drive in any Indian congested and broken roads, huge amounts of customisation option and most importantly go some serious off-roading if the driver is experienced.

The main reason why Jimny has crazy Off the line acceleration because they are designed to tow heavy vehicles or hill-climbing on steep elevation so they can pull them out easily. I owned my 1994 Jimny and 1998 Carry so i know exactly how they worked.
They dont have amazing 0-60 like they only can do about 15 seconds to reach that BUT in 0-30 they can do just in under 4 seconds which bring the main point of car itself.

I used to have a Yukon denali xl which has the same drive train as this hummer. The transmission was horrendous. The gears were super tall and when you just stuck it in drive it would shift way early and bog down. I did a cam and head swap along with headers, intake and tune. If I put the shifter in 1st and shifted it myself it was way better. 2nd gear would hit 95 mph it was geared so tall.

If he put on new brake pads a couple of weeks ago he must’ve thought something was up. Seems they need bleeding or the pads are glazed. Imagine 2, 850kg (or 3T including the driver ) rear ending a family due to poorly service brakes. Glad I don’t share the roads with that wheeled wrecking ball.

LOL - The very tall gearing in the Hummer just causes the engine to fall completely out of it's power band. If one could manipulate the gears manually, it would go much quicker. But, it's probably a good thing that it doesn't, sinceThe braking on that thing is just so 70's.

Public service announcement. If you consider buying a Hummer of any kind please know that you have no sense of taste, and are either a 4 year old child, or a complete bell end. The Hummer says more about Backfire media than anything else they have, and will ever do.

i have never seen a v8 that runs that slow. It is funny how Americans have convinced themselves that they have the best cars, look at that hummer, it's slow, and can't brake uses millions of litres of petrol per km. I feel like i can beat it in a foot race.

The Hummer is not that better considering ist power. Being fat and big is not good for a sprint. The Jimny is quite a useful little workhorse, the Hummer is more for posing or offroading where there is plenty of space, the Iraqi desert lets say.

Something is wrong with that hummer, mine doesn’t take that long to stop, besides who owns a truck like that knows how to maintain the distance due to the weight of it. And those small tires that they are using are not a big help.

Well as a person from the US that Hummer is having an issue or he is not pushing the gas all the way down. Here they do the 1/4 mile in 16. 1 sec (dry) and top out at around 100 mph. That being said brake boosted start for the 16. 1.

You guys don't know how to drive, the hummer was changing up at low rpms, I sure it mast have a sports mode. Yes we can make a low powered vehicle win if we look at the variables that suits the jimmy. Want me to drive it for you

This sort of drag race is so much more interesting than here's 3 600bhp 4wd 1900kg boosted automatic saloons. Let's see which one is 1tenth quicker than the other. Oh it's the BMW!
Keep them coming!

I love how he mentioned that an American V8 is very underpowered for the size but on the contrary much more reliable than any European v8 with the exception of the Mercedes M113 series motors.

13: 00 there’s obviously something wrong with that vehicle or it’s on garbage tires. 75 meters is 246 feet or so and a 2003 Hummer H2 according to Motorweek testing stopped in 150 feet
reply

If that brake distance is normal for a hummer, then I can fully understand why the American accident rates are so diabolical. That stop distance should straight up be illegal.

That revving of the engine at the end was definitely someone annoyed at the end comments from matt safe to say the young lad definitely didnt like being embarrassed about his brakes.

USA vehicle safety standards so state if your vehicle doesn't mow down at least 30 pedestrians 4 other vehicles and a storefront then you're not trying hard enough

Imagine a Suzuki Jimny with a GR Yaris engine and proper chassis suspension tuning. 280hp in a 1. 1ton SUV would be so fun and epic. A true all-rounder.

Hummer is actually 4 speed instead of 6 speed and something’s off with his transmission tuning bc it shouldn’t have shifted that early at WOT
