How fast is the new AMG C63?

The time has finally come for Mat to feel what it s like to drive the all-new AMG C63! Ok, that s not entirely true! He will feel what it s like to be in a new AMG C63 as it s being driven, but he ll be sat in the passenger seat. You see, this is only a prototype, with the full unveil still some way off. However, even if he s not behind the wheel, he ll still have a chance to see just what it s like when it s on the move. He ll start off with it driving on electric power alone, after which the AMG test driver will put the AMG C63 through its paces in Sports Plus mode! Oh and of course, Mat s in the car, so it would be rude to not try out a launch, a brake test and a bit of drifting! Now we know any AMG 63 is going to be an exciting drive. However, there s one key change that you AMG fanboys & fangirls may not like The V8 has GONE, and it s been replaced by a 2-litre 4-cylinder hybrid! Don t worry though, it s not all bad. The power output has increased by 150hp, with the engine and electric motor combining to deliver 680hp and 1, 020Nm of torque! It can also fly to 60mph in just 3. 4 seconds.

Hopefully, the stated electric range will be 80-90km, and in real life somewhere between 40-50, driving normally. I have a E300e and the stated range is approximately 60km(electric) but when driving like a granny at most I get 25-28km of pure electric drive. It s just disappointing to see a C63 AMG with a hybrid drivetrain, and after 15-20km of spirited driving, you ll be left with less than 500hp and 300-400 kilos of dead weight and also a halved gas tank of 30-40 liters, which the 2. 0 will eat it up in no time, driving the car and also charge the battery.

There is no way I'm selling my G80M3xD for this!
Man is not ready to go electric yet - especially given the fact its more environmentally damaging to own an electric car due to the enormous burning of fossils to produce it! Not to mention it costs more to charge one once than it does to keep your fridge on for a week.

When the AMG A class came out with the 2l turbo they have, majority of the car world knew that most manufacturers will be all these 1. 6t, 1. 8t and 2. 0t engines powering most of quick/fast cars. It s a weird one as the noise is what we want from amg, the last real amg would have to be the c63 black series.

I really dont like the idea of hybrid in performance cars, as it increases weight, price without gaining any performance advantage as weight will neutralise the power advantage, and in terms of pollution you still got fuel burning in addition to extra pollution caused while making batteries.

This car is an engineering masterpiece and even though it doesn't always sound sporty it is capable of some amazing feats of acceleration and handling. It is definitely something to consider, especially for those who like a car which you can push to the Limit and still not crash it.

yeah its boring af, cant really understand why they created the 4 door amg gt that nobody wanted cuz its basicly an E63 anyways and instead they cut 4 cylinders of one of the best selling mercedes sports cars they have. Well this segment will be dominated by the M3 now.

I don't really like electric cars and probably I'll never do. Not even I'm going to think that the purpose is saving the environment, and that the goal is another, but I'm not going to say anything else as this is not the right place. Thanks for the video though.

Doesn t seem that quick when moving. They say it s 600-whatever horsepower but it s not, only 400-something to all four wheels minus transmission losses, then extra 200hp to rear wheels for short bursts. Probably about an average of a 500hp car most of the time.

the test driver definitely seems strained trying to find good words for the car. He's not convinced himself and seems like he'd like to agree with every criticism from Matt as he try and seem strained to overturn it. RIP V8, we will miss you!

Wait so Americans are being forced to buy electric cars because you know the climate crisis, but rich people and car companies make video after video of people wasting GAS, Tires, and oil just for fun. Hmm something is off

I love how regardless of the Engineer Matt is teamed up with for these videos, they have a blast. guys start out nervous but he just makes them so comfortable they come out of their shell and really bring the interview alive.

brilliant video, Matt the sort of guy you invite to your house, dont take his shoes off, pisses on your toilet seat, helps himself to your food, and insults your family.
im guessing thats how the engineer felt.

Without a doubt an engineering feat. That being said 95% of buyer won't ever take these to the track to use its fully potential and without the exhaust note on the street all this is is a c class with a body kit.
